Definitions
- the present invention relates to a height-adjustable neck support system for an office chair, in particular for an e-gaming chair, for adapting to different head and neck support heights for users of different sizes, and a chair with such a system.
- Gaming chairs also known as eGaming chairs, are becoming increasingly popular.
- a gaming chair is a desk chair that is used to play computer games.
- the gaming chairs have a sporty and eye-catching design thanks to their special look and presentation.
- a separate intended head and neck pillow and a separate lumbar pillow are clear signs of gaming chairs.
- Gaming chairs like office chairs, usually have seat height adjustment, armrests and a rocking mechanism that can be locked if necessary.
- the seating comfort in gaming chairs is often much higher than in classic desk chairs, which is due to the special cushions (source: www.stern.de).
- the (separate) neck pillow is usually pulled vertically over the upper part of the backrest of the chair by means of elastic loops (e.g. rubber bands) which are firmly attached to the pillow.
- the upper portion of the backrest typically tapers upwards to function as a headrest.
- the neck cushion can be attached to the chair at the desired height using the elastic, horizontal loop.
- the disadvantage here is that the horizontal and vertical position of the neck pillow can change during use as a result of use. This changes an optimal position previously set by the user into an (ergonomically) poor position. The user finds the (unintentional) change in position of the neck pillow disturbing. This can lead to the user having to interrupt his current activity in order to reposition the neck pillow optimally or again.
- the gaming chairs are also characterized in particular by their striking appearance. Due to the unstable positioning, it can happen that the neck pillow covers optically relevant (decorative) areas of the backrest so that, for example, the logo of the chair manufacturer is no longer visible. This is undesirable. Furthermore, light sources integrated into the chair, which are not uncommon in gaming chairs, can be covered by the neck pillow.
- a neck support that can be attached to the chair in a fixed position (also retrospectively in the sense of a retrofit kit).
- a height adjustment is desired that covers a larger adjustment range than conventional (stationary) neck supports.
- the desired expansion of the adjustment range should preferably not result in functionally relevant areas of the chair being covered.
- the document DE 10 2010 020 165 A1 relates to a headrest and a piece of seating furniture.
- the document DE 34 13 814 A1 relates to a dental patient chair with a headboard attached to a belt.
- the document EP 1 716 786 A1 relates to a chair and armchair with an adjustable headrest.
- the document AT 505 212 A1 relates, according to its abstract, to a seat comprising a support frame and a support unit connected to the support frame.
- the support unit has a cover made of knitwear, which forms a support surface with a seat area and a back area.
- the cover is continuous between the seat area and the back area, and the bearing surface of the cover has zones that follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the cover.
- the zone has greater elastic deformability than the other zones in accordance with DIN EN 14704-1.
- the neck support can be connected to the mounting plate in two opposite orientations. Since the support edge is arranged eccentrically, the support edge can be adjusted in a larger adjustment range when the neck support is oriented in the opposite direction than would be possible with a single orientation of the neck support. Thus it is possible for very short users and very tall users to use the same neck support can be used by rotating the orientation of the headrest. Nevertheless, the maximum area covered by the neck support system at maximum deflections of the neck support upwards and downwards relative to the holding plate—with an unchanged position of the holding plate—does not change. This means that relevant areas of the chair are not covered, although the range of height adjustment for the headrest has been extended.
- the length of the adjustment range is preferably defined by a maximum or maximum possible offset of the adjustment devices in the opposite adjustment directions.
- the support edge is positioned further away from a center of the adjustment range in the first orientation of the neck support during a maximum offset of the adjustment devices in the engaged state in one of the adjustment directions than in the second orientation during the maximum offset of the adjustment devices in the same adjustment direction.
- the adjustment mechanism includes at least one positive guidance element, so that the adjustment devices are positively guided in the adjustment directions.
- the constraining elements cause the neck support to be movable relative to the holding plate only along desired directions.
- the forced guidance elements also ensure that the neck support can be captively attached to the retaining plate.
- the adjustment devices are designed as latching devices.
- One of the latching devices can preferably comprise toothed racks which are arranged at a distance from one another and which extend parallel to the longitudinal extent of the neck support.
- the extent of the toothed racks define the directions of adjustment. Therefore, the toothed racks are preferably oriented parallel to the longitudinal extent of the neck support.
- a division of the teeth defines an adjustment interval.
- Two gear racks are provided to move the neck support in either orientation (stepping or stepping).
- the other of the latching devices preferably defines an elastically mounted latching lug, which in particular comprises an (omega-shaped) spring plate.
- the detent engages in the toothed racks and thus enables a gradual adjustment of the neck support relative to the holding plate according to the pitch of the teeth of the toothed racks.
- the spring plate is preferably designed in an omega shape, so that the projecting part of the spring plate resiliently engages in the valleys of the toothed rack. In this case, the detent is pretensioned in the direction of the valleys of the toothed racks.
- the neck support has a support body, with the support edge extending parallel to a width direction of the neck support and protruding furthest out of the support body in a depth direction, with the width direction being oriented horizontally when the system is attached to the chair.
- a cross section of the neck support in a plane perpendicular to the width direction corresponds to an unequal triangle.
- the shape of the isosceles triangle results in the off-center location of the support edge when the latch extends along the hypotenuse of the triangle.
- the first adjusting device is preferably arranged on a side of the neck support which faces the holding plate in the engaged state, and the support edge is arranged on a side of the neck support which faces away from the holding plate in the engaged state.
- the neck support rests flat against the retaining plate.
- the adjustment devices are inaccessible to the user and not visible, so that there is no risk of injury and an aesthetically pleasing overall impression is created when the system is installed.
- the holding plate comprises a base section and an edge section which are shaped in such a way that the holding plate can be inserted into the chair with a form fit.
- the form fit allows the retaining plate to be inserted into the chair. Fixing rubber bands, Velcro fasteners and the like can be dispensed with.
- the form fit ensures the fixed orientation of the holding plate on the chair.
- the second latching device is arranged on the bottom section of the retaining plate.
- the retaining plate is designed in the shape of a bowl, so that the edge section is oriented obliquely, preferably perpendicularly, to the floor section, and with a contour of the floor section and/or a contour of the edge section being adapted to a contour of an upholstery space of the chair and/or to a contour another chair element is adapted.
- the overall aesthetic impression is further enhanced.
- the system is mounted on the chair without any visually disturbing elements.
- the neck support rests directly on the chair and is therefore integrated into the chair.
- the adjustment mechanism also includes a safety mechanism, which is arranged in particular at at least one end of the adjustment range and which is activated in a normal state and mechanically limits the adjustment range, wherein the safety mechanism can be deactivated by the user in order to secure the adjustment devices by a relative movement of the adjustment devices via the To disengage the adjustment range for a change in the orientation of the neck support.
- a safety mechanism which is arranged in particular at at least one end of the adjustment range and which is activated in a normal state and mechanically limits the adjustment range, wherein the safety mechanism can be deactivated by the user in order to secure the adjustment devices by a relative movement of the adjustment devices via the To disengage the adjustment range for a change in the orientation of the neck support.
- the adjustment directions are oriented parallel to a longitudinal extension of at least one of the adjustment devices, with a length of at least one of the adjustment devices preferably defining the length of the adjustment range.
- a chair with a corresponding neck support system with the contour of the retaining plate in particular being adapted to the contour of the chair for positive, stationary positioning of the system on the chair.
- FIG. 1 1 shows a gaming chair 10 with a height-adjustable neck support system 12 that is attached to the chair 10 in an upper area of a backrest 14 .
- the 2 shows the chair 10 of 1 without the system 12.
- the Cartesian coordinate system of all Figures 1 to 9 is spanned by a height direction H, a width direction B and a depth direction T.
- a height of chair 10 and system 12 extends along height direction H.
- a depth of chair 10 and system 12 extends along depth direction T.
- a width of chair 10 and system 12 extends along width direction B.
- the system 12 is shown in a use situation, ie in an assembled state.
- the directions H, B and T are defined in particular with respect to a backrest 14 .
- the height adjustable neck support system 12 generally includes a neck support 16 and a support plate 18 .
- the system 12 can also have a (fabric) cover 20 that can be pulled over the neck support 16 for reasons of hygiene, cf. Figures 3 and 4 .
- the cover 20 will not be discussed in more detail below since it is irrelevant for the height adjustability.
- the system 12 will be described in more detail below with particular reference to the neck support 16 and the support panel 18 .
- FIG 3 12 shows an exploded view of the system 12 in a front view.
- the 4 12 shows an exploded view of the system 12 of FIG 3 in a rear view.
- the figure 5 12 shows a perspective view of the system 12 of FIG Figures 3 and 4 in an assembled (interlocked) condition.
- the neck support 16 is wedge-shaped and has a supporting body (cushion, for example made of foam) and a base plate (optionally provided separately for this purpose), cf. 7 .
- the neck support 16 generally defines a support edge 22 (see dashed line in 3 ) on which a user (not shown here) can support his neck while using the chair 10, i.e. while sitting, in order to lay his head in an area above the supporting edge 22.
- the wedge shape of the neck support 16 is preferably concave along the width direction B in order to accommodate the neck as ergonomically as possible (ie in particular in a form-fitting manner).
- the neck support 16 In a plane that is spanned by the height direction H and the depth direction T, the neck support 16 has a triangular cross section that corresponds to an unequal triangle, as described below with reference to FIG 8 and 9 will be explained in more detail.
- the system 12 includes an adjustment mechanism 24 which has at least two adjustment devices 25 which are designed in particular as latching devices 26 .
- the adjusting mechanism 24 can be equipped with a hand wheel, for example (in steps), in a latching manner, steplessly (not shown) or via a gear (not shown).
- the adjusting devices 25 could, for example, also be used as a slot-slot nut connection, be designed as a magnetic strip magnet stone connections or as a similar connection of mutually corresponding elements. In the following, a gradual latching mechanism is assumed as an example.
- the adjustment mechanism 24 has, in particular, a first latching device 26-1 and a second latching device 26-2, the first latching device 26-1 being, for example, elongate and connected to the neck support 16 (cf. 4 ) and wherein the second latching device 26-2 is formed, for example, in a punctiform manner and is connected to the holding plate 18 (cf. 3 ).
- the latching devices 26-1 and 26-2 can be brought into engagement with one another (in a longitudinal direction) in such a way that the neck support 16 can be permanently and releasably connected to the retaining plate 18 in a first orientation O1 and in a second, opposite orientation O2 (cf. 8 ) is connectable.
- the adjusting devices 25 and in particular the latching devices 26 are set up in opposite directions of adjustment R1 and R2 (cf. Figures 7-9 ), which are oriented parallel to a longitudinal extent of at least one of the latching devices 26, here the latching device 26-1, within an adjustment range Vges (cf. 9 ), preferably stepwise, to be moved relative to each other.
- the neck support 16 is thus rotated by 180°, as shown in 4 illustrated by an arrow to move from the first orientation O1 (cf. 8 , left) to the second orientation O2 (cf. 8 , right) to switch.
- the latching devices 26-1 and 26-2 are disengaged by sliding against one another, as will be explained in more detail below, in order to be able to rotate the neck support 16 accordingly in the separated state, so that the latching devices 26-1 and 26-2 can then be engaged with one another again by sliding them into one another.
- the neck support 16 could, for example, also be permanently (and captively) connected to the holding plate 18 via a rotary joint (not shown).
- the neck support 16 can be rotated through 180° without separating the neck support 16 from the holding plate 18 .
- the user pulls on the neck support 16, for example, disengaging the adjustment devices 25 (not shown) in this way, while the neck support 16 remains permanently connected to the retaining plate 18, rotates the support 16 and then pushes it back into the retaining plate 18 in the opposite direction to re-engage the adjusters 25.
- FIG. 6 shows a perspective view of the holding plate 18 of FIG Figures 3 to 5 .
- the retaining plate 18 is shown in isolation.
- the retaining plate 18 is preferably an injection molded plastic part.
- the holding plate 18 is shell-shaped.
- the holding plate 18 is formed from a base section 28 and an edge section 30 .
- the bottom section 28 is preferably designed as a flat surface.
- the edge section 30 protrudes from the plane of the bottom section 28 .
- the edge section 30 is oriented obliquely, in particular perpendicularly, to the plane of the bottom section 28 .
- the edge section 30 is C-shaped here when you look perpendicularly at the back of the holding plate 18 .
- a contour 40 of the edge section 30 could also run differently.
- the edge portion 30 could consist of two separate parallel spaced portions, i.e. the connecting vertical portions of the C-shape, but still extending along the contour 40.
- a "contour” of an object is understood to mean a curve or a course of a curve that separates the object from its surroundings for an observer.
- the contour of an object depends not only on the shape of the object itself, but also on the direction from which the viewer observes the object.
- the term “contour” is not (only) to be understood in the classic sense of an (outer) outline.
- a “contour” can also be defined by a dividing line between adjacent objects (e.g. cushions), as will be explained below for cushion spaces 42 as an example.
- the contour 40 of the edge section 30 coincides with a contour 36 of the cushion gaps 42 (cf. 2 ) of the chair 10 in order, by inserting the retaining plate 18, in particular the edge section 30, into the gaps between the upholstery 42 along the depth direction T to produce a form-fitting connection between the chair 10, in particular the backrest 14, and the retaining plate 18 in the height and/or width direction H and B.
- the edge section 30 can be non-positively (in the depth direction T) detachably fixed in the padding gaps 42 .
- the second latching device 26 - 2 is connected to the holding plate 18 .
- the second latching device 26-2 is set up to accommodate a spring plate (with an omega-shaped cross section), not shown here.
- the spring plate is in the exploded view of the 3 illustrated.
- This recording for the spring plate is in the 6 preferably formed in one piece with the holding plate 18 .
- the latching device 26-2 can also be provided separately and can be connected to the holding plate 18 in a different way (eg by means of an adhesive).
- the latching device 26 - 2 is arranged on a front side 32 of the holding plate 18 .
- the front side 32 is in an engaged state of the latching devices 26 (cf. figure 5 ) facing the neckrest 16.
- a rear side of the holding plate 18, not designated here in any more detail, is in a mounted state of the system 12 (cf. 1 ) facing chair 10.
- the edge portion 30 is shaped so that the retaining plate 18 can be positively inserted into the chair 10, as shown in FIG 1 is shown.
- the rim portion 30 optionally includes tab portions that act as barbs to prevent the retention panel 18 from easily detaching from the chair 10 .
- a contour 34 of the bottom portion 28 (in a plan view of the retaining plate 18) in the 6 is indicated with a chain line is adapted to a contour 36 of a (multi-part) upholstery 38 of the chair 10 .
- the contour 34 of the bottom section 28 defines again a course - and thus also a contour 40 - of the edge section 30 (in a bottom view of the holding plate 18), as already mentioned above.
- the upholstery 38 of the chair 10 consists of several parts 39, for example the parts 39-1 to 39-4, which have corresponding upholstery spaces 42 (cf. 2 ) define between them.
- the padding intermediate spaces 42 define the congruent contour 36 and are dimensioned such that they can preferably completely accommodate the edge section 3 (in the depth direction T).
- the padding 38 is made of an elastic material that allows the edge section 30 to be inserted (immersed) and holds the edge section 30 in a non-positive manner (in the height and/or width direction H and/or B) in the inserted state, so that the retaining plate 18 in the depth direction is detachably fixed.
- the parts 39 can be made of different materials with different elasticities.
- some of the parts 39 are not padded at all.
- at least one of the adjoining parts 39 that define the space or spaces 42 between the pads is padded.
- it is possible that all parts 39 are not upholstered and that the edge section 30 has a corresponding elasticity.
- contours 34, 36 and 40 are adapted to one another in such a way that the retaining plate 18 can be inserted into the intermediate padding spaces 42 in a form-fitting manner.
- the bottom portion 28 could also have a larger area than illustrated so that it extends beyond the rim portion 30 (not shown).
- the retaining plate 18 can also be connected in a fixed manner to the chair 10 in a different way, i.e. without a form fit.
- the chair 10 could, for example, have snap fasteners, Velcro strips or the like, preferably in the upper area of the backrest 14 (not shown here).
- the holding plate 18 is provided with corresponding elements (not shown here) in order to produce the stationary connection between the holding plate 18 and the chair 10 .
- the adjustment mechanism 24 may also include one or more constraint elements 44 .
- the forced guidance elements 44 are used to force one, several or all locking devices 26 along the adjustment directions R1 and R2.
- the forced guidance elements 44 ensure that the latching device 26 can only be moved along the adjustment directions R1 and R2 and the connection between the neck support 16 and the retaining plate 18 is captive.
- a plurality of constraint members 44 are shown protruding from the front face 32 of the floor portion 28 .
- Two, for example, pin-shaped positive guidance elements 44-1 and 44-2 are arranged centrally in relation to the width direction B and are arranged spaced apart from one another in the height direction H.
- Two further constraining elements 44-3 and 44-4 are arranged on the outside in the width direction B.
- the restricted guidance elements 44-3 and 44-4 each have an L-shaped cross section along the height direction H.
- the constraint elements 44-1 to 44-4 are positioned relative to one another to cooperate with other constraint elements 44 (not shown) disposed on the neck support 16, as discussed with reference to FIG 7 will be explained in more detail.
- the relative positioning and shape of the forced guidance elements 44 of the holding plate 18 is adapted to the position and shape of the forced guidance elements 44 of the neck support 16 in such a way that the desired forced guidance is brought about. It is understood that the in 6 shown arrangement and shape of the forced guidance elements 44 can also be chosen differently.
- the adjustment mechanism 24 can include a securing mechanism 46 .
- the securing mechanism consists of one or more securing elements 48 which are arranged on the neck support 16 and/or on the holding plate 18 .
- the securing element 48-1 is arranged in the width direction B between the centrally arranged restraining element 44-2 and the outwardly arranged restraining element 44-3.
- the securing element 48-1 protrudes from the front side 32 along the depth direction T and can be pivoted about an axis of rotation, not shown in detail here, which extends parallel to the width direction B, as indicated by an auxiliary arrow in FIG 6 is indicated.
- the hatched areas illustrate sliding and bearing surfaces that interact with the latching devices 26, the positive guidance elements 44 and the securing elements 48 of the neck support 16, as is described below with reference to FIG 7 will be explained in more detail.
- the back 50 may be integral with the neck support 16 or may be implemented as a separate base plate 52 onto which padding (support body) for forming the neck support 16 may be attached.
- the first locking device 26-1 of 7 is formed by two racks 54-1 and 54-2.
- the racks 54-1 and 54-2 extend in parallel and spaced from each other substantially along the depth direction T in FIG 7 .
- the toothed racks 24-1 and 24-2 are laterally attached to an elongate restraint element 44, so that the teeth of the toothed racks 54 are aligned in the width direction B.
- the forced guidance element 44-5 interacts with the pin-shaped forced guidance elements 44-1 and 44-2 of the holding plate 18 (cf. 6 ), which engage in a centrally arranged groove of the restraint element 44-5 and ensure sliding support there. Like in the 6 are also in the 7 Sliding and bearing surfaces of the neck support 16 shown hatched.
- the teeth of the toothed racks 54-1 and 54-2 are arranged in such a way that they engage with the spring plate of the second locking device 26-2 (cf. 3 ) come into detent engagement.
- the second latching device 26-2 defines a latching lug which (resiliently) engages in spaces between the teeth of the toothed racks 54 in order to gradually move the latching devices 26 against one another by a movement along the adjustment directions R1 and R2. It is understood that only one of the racks 54-1 and 54-2 is engaged with the detent, depending on the orientation of the neck support 16 relative to the holding plate 18.
- further restricted guidance elements 44-6 and 44-7 are provided.
- the forced guidance elements 44-6 and 44-7 are offset outwards in the width direction B relative to the forced guidance element 44-5.
- the restraint elements 44-6 and 44-7 each extend essentially along a longitudinal extension of the neck support 16, ie in the 7 parallel to the vertical direction H.
- the restricted guidance elements 44-6 and 44-7 of the neck support 16 interact with the L-shaped (outer) restricted guidance elements 44-3 and 44-4 on the retaining plate 18 (cf. 6 ) together.
- the restricted guidance elements 44 - 6 and 44 - 7 also have an L-shaped cross section, for example, which protrudes from the rear side 50 in the depth direction T. It goes without saying that the restricted guidance elements 44-3, 44-4, 44-6 and 44-7 are adapted to one another in terms of their dimensions.
- the neck support 16 of 7 two securing elements 48-2 and 48-3, which with the securing element 48-1 of the neck support 16 of 6 work together.
- the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 are arranged in an outer region of the rear side 50 of the neck support 16 and are spaced apart from one another in the width direction B.
- the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 protrude from the back 50 in the depth direction T and are resiliently mounted in the back 50 in order to be depressed with the securing element 48-1 of the holding plate 18 in the event of a change in the orientation of the neck support 16 .
- the user When pressed down, the user lowers the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 manually to the level of the rear side 50, so that the neck support 16 can be separated from the holding plate 18 by a movement in the adjustment direction R1.
- the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 serve as stops for the toothed racks 54, which prevent the neck support 16 from separating from the retaining plate 18 as a result of a movement along the adjustment direction R1.
- a length of the toothed racks 54 and/or a position of the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 in the height direction H define a length of a maximum possible adjustment range that is associated with the 9 will be explained in more detail and which is denoted by Vges.
- 8 1 is an illustration of the two different orientations O1 and O2 that the neck support 16 can assume with respect to the support plate 18, which is to be fixed in place and attached to the chair 10 with the orientation unchanged.
- the neck support 16 is shown schematically in the form of the first latching device 26-1, and in particular in the form of the toothed rack 54, and in the form of the support body with the triangular cross section.
- the retaining plate 18 is shown schematically only in the form of the second latching device 26-2.
- the locking devices 26-1 and 26-2 are in the 8 shown in a normal position. In the normal position, the locking devices 26-1 and 26-2 are located exactly in a center (H0) of the adjustment range Vges.
- the adjustment range Vges is defined in each of the deflection directions R1 and R2 by a maximum offset of the latching devices 26-1 and 26-2. The maximum offset is in 9 for the orientations O1 and O2 of the neck support 16 are shown.
- the orientations O1 and O2 of the neck support 16 differ in that the support edge 22 is positioned in a lower portion (orientation O1) of the neck support 16 or in an upper portion (orientation O2) of the neck support 16.
- the neck support 16 can be switched between orientations O1 and O2 by removing the neck support 16 from the mounting plate 18 and rotating it 180 degrees before reinserting the neck support 16 into the mounting plate 18, which does not require active actuation of the securing elements 48 , since the securing elements 48-2 and 48-3 are beveled accordingly (cf. 7 ).
- the orientation O1 is in the 8 shown on the left.
- the orientation O2 is in the 8 shown on the right.
- the locking devices 26-1 and 26-2 (with their respective centers) are each at the height H0.
- the supporting edge 22 is arranged lower in the orientation O1 than in the orientation O2.
- the various extreme positions P1-P4 of the neck support 16 are illustrated.
- the neck support 16 is in the orientation O1, ie the supporting edge 22 is arranged in a lower region of the neck support 16.
- the neck support 16 is in the orientations O2, ie the supporting edge 22 is in an upper region of the neck support 16.
- Position P1 defines the highest position that support edge 22 can assume in orientation O1.
- the latching devices 26-1 and 26-2 are offset from one another at a maximum (in the direction R2).
- the position P2 illustrates the lowest point that the support edge 22 can assume when the neck support 16 is in the orientation O1.
- the latching device 26-1 of the neck support 16 is offset at most in the direction R1 relative to the latching device 26-2.
- the second latching device 26-2--via the mounting of the retaining plate 18 on the chair 10-- is stationary and in particular does not change its orientation.
- the position P3 again shows the lowest position of the support edge 22 and the position P4 shows the highest position of the support edge 22.
- the highest and lowest positions are in FIG 9 indicated by Hmax1, Hmax2, Hmin1 and Hmin2.
- a size of the (entire) adjustment range Vges is independent of the orientation O1 or O2 of the neck support 16. A comparison of the orientations O1 and O2 shows it is clear that the neck support 16 can always be adjusted by the same maximum distance in the directions R1 and R2.
- the (entire) adjustment range Vges is made up of two partial adjustment ranges V1 and V2, which in turn are determined by the adjustment directions R1 and R2.
- a length L V of the adjustment range Vges is essentially determined by a length L R of at least one of the latching devices 26 .
- this is twice the length of the first latching device 26-1, ie the length of the toothed rack(s) 54, which is much larger than an extension of the latching lug of the second latching device 26-2 (in the height direction H), minus the length of the second latching device 26-2.
- the locking devices 26 - 1 and 26 - 2 could also be interchanged with regard to their positioning on the neck support 16 and the retaining plate 18 . Nevertheless, the length L V of the adjustment range Vges would be determined by the length of the latching devices 26 .
- the eccentric arrangement of the support edge 22 is caused by the cross section of the neck support 16 (in the TH plane).
- the cross section is an unequal triangle, so that the supporting edge 22 is off-centre in relation to the latching device 26, which essentially determines or co-determines the length L V of the adjustment range Vges.
- positions P2 and P4 are advantageous because position P2 is suitable for very short users and because position P4 is suitable for very tall users.
- Conventional neck pillows would attach to a different location on the chair 10 to accommodate different body sizes. This is not necessary with the system 10 disclosed herein.
- the holding plate 18 remains in the same place, and the coverage area of the system 10 does not change either, despite an extended adjustment range Vges.

Description
The present invention relates to a height-adjustable neck support system for an office chair, in particular for an e-gaming chair, for adapting to different head and neck support heights for users of different sizes, and a chair with such a system.
Gaming chairs, also known as eGaming chairs, are becoming increasingly popular. A gaming chair is a desk chair that is used to play computer games. The gaming chairs have a sporty and eye-catching design thanks to their special look and presentation.
A separate intended head and neck pillow and a separate lumbar pillow are clear signs of gaming chairs. Gaming chairs, like office chairs, usually have seat height adjustment, armrests and a rocking mechanism that can be locked if necessary. The seating comfort in gaming chairs is often much higher than in classic desk chairs, which is due to the special cushions (source: www.stern.de).
The (separate) neck pillow is usually pulled vertically over the upper part of the backrest of the chair by means of elastic loops (e.g. rubber bands) which are firmly attached to the pillow. The upper portion of the backrest typically tapers upwards to function as a headrest. The neck cushion can be attached to the chair at the desired height using the elastic, horizontal loop.
The disadvantage here is that the horizontal and vertical position of the neck pillow can change during use as a result of use. This changes an optimal position previously set by the user into an (ergonomically) poor position. The user finds the (unintentional) change in position of the neck pillow disturbing. This can lead to the user having to interrupt his current activity in order to reposition the neck pillow optimally or again.
As already explained above, the gaming chairs are also characterized in particular by their striking appearance.
It is therefore desirable to provide a neck support that can be attached to the chair in a fixed position (also retrospectively in the sense of a retrofit kit). In particular, a height adjustment is desired that covers a larger adjustment range than conventional (stationary) neck supports. The desired expansion of the adjustment range should preferably not result in functionally relevant areas of the chair being covered.

This problem is solved by a height-adjustable neck support system with the features of claim 1.
The neck support can be connected to the mounting plate in two opposite orientations.
The length of the adjustment range is preferably defined by a maximum or maximum possible offset of the adjustment devices in the opposite adjustment directions.
In other words, this generally means that the longer at least one of the adjusting or latching devices—compared to other adjusting or latching devices—is designed, the greater the adjustment range and the greater the extension of the adjustment range, especially the further off-centre the headrest edge of the neckrest is positioned.
In an advantageous embodiment, the support edge is positioned further away from a center of the adjustment range in the first orientation of the neck support during a maximum offset of the adjustment devices in the engaged state in one of the adjustment directions than in the second orientation during the maximum offset of the adjustment devices in the same adjustment direction.
Preferably, the adjustment mechanism includes at least one positive guidance element, so that the adjustment devices are positively guided in the adjustment directions.
The constraining elements cause the neck support to be movable relative to the holding plate only along desired directions. The forced guidance elements also ensure that the neck support can be captively attached to the retaining plate.
Insbesondere sind die Verstelleinrichtungen als Rasteinrichtungen ausgeführt. In particular, the adjustment devices are designed as latching devices.
One of the latching devices can preferably comprise toothed racks which are arranged at a distance from one another and which extend parallel to the longitudinal extent of the neck support.
The extent of the toothed racks define the directions of adjustment. Therefore, the toothed racks are preferably oriented parallel to the longitudinal extent of the neck support.
Eine Teilung der Zähne definiert ein Verstellintervall.A division of the teeth defines an adjustment interval.
Two gear racks are provided to move the neck support in either orientation (stepping or stepping).
The other of the latching devices preferably defines an elastically mounted latching lug, which in particular comprises an (omega-shaped) spring plate.
The detent engages in the toothed racks and thus enables a gradual adjustment of the neck support relative to the holding plate according to the pitch of the teeth of the toothed racks. The spring plate is preferably designed in an omega shape, so that the projecting part of the spring plate resiliently engages in the valleys of the toothed rack. In this case, the detent is pretensioned in the direction of the valleys of the toothed racks.
It is also advantageous if the neck support has a support body, with the support edge extending parallel to a width direction of the neck support and protruding furthest out of the support body in a depth direction, with the width direction being oriented horizontally when the system is attached to the chair.
In particular, a cross section of the neck support in a plane perpendicular to the width direction corresponds to an unequal triangle.
The shape of the isosceles triangle results in the off-center location of the support edge when the latch extends along the hypotenuse of the triangle.
The first adjusting device is preferably arranged on a side of the neck support which faces the holding plate in the engaged state, and the support edge is arranged on a side of the neck support which faces away from the holding plate in the engaged state.
In the engaged state, the neck support rests flat against the retaining plate. The adjustment devices are inaccessible to the user and not visible, so that there is no risk of injury and an aesthetically pleasing overall impression is created when the system is installed.
In particular, the holding plate comprises a base section and an edge section which are shaped in such a way that the holding plate can be inserted into the chair with a form fit.
The form fit allows the retaining plate to be inserted into the chair. Fixing rubber bands, Velcro fasteners and the like can be dispensed with.
The form fit ensures the fixed orientation of the holding plate on the chair.
Ästhetisch störende Haltebänder sind nicht vorhanden.Aesthetically disturbing straps are not available.
Furthermore, it is preferred if the second latching device is arranged on the bottom section of the retaining plate.
In a particular embodiment, the retaining plate is designed in the shape of a bowl, so that the edge section is oriented obliquely, preferably perpendicularly, to the floor section, and with a contour of the floor section and/or a contour of the edge section being adapted to a contour of an upholstery space of the chair and/or to a contour another chair element is adapted.
By adjusting the contours, the overall aesthetic impression is further enhanced. The system is mounted on the chair without any visually disturbing elements. The neck support rests directly on the chair and is therefore integrated into the chair.
Preferably, the adjustment mechanism also includes a safety mechanism, which is arranged in particular at at least one end of the adjustment range and which is activated in a normal state and mechanically limits the adjustment range, wherein the safety mechanism can be deactivated by the user in order to secure the adjustment devices by a relative movement of the adjustment devices via the To disengage the adjustment range for a change in the orientation of the neck support.
In particular, the adjustment directions are oriented parallel to a longitudinal extension of at least one of the adjustment devices, with a length of at least one of the adjustment devices preferably defining the length of the adjustment range.
Furthermore, the above-mentioned problem is solved by a chair with a corresponding neck support system, with the contour of the retaining plate in particular being adapted to the contour of the chair for positive, stationary positioning of the system on the chair.
It goes without saying that the features mentioned above and those still to be explained below can be used not only in the combination specified in each case, but also in other combinations or on their own, without departing from the scope of the present invention.

In general usage, a "contour" of an object is understood to mean a curve or a course of a curve that separates the object from its surroundings for an observer. The contour of an object depends not only on the shape of the object itself, but also on the direction from which the viewer observes the object. In the present text, the term "contour" is not (only) to be understood in the classic sense of an (outer) outline. A "contour" can also be defined by a dividing line between adjacent objects (e.g. cushions), as will be explained below for

A size of the (entire) adjustment range Vges is independent of the orientation O1 or O2 of the
In relation to the normal position, the (entire) adjustment range Vges is made up of two partial adjustment ranges V1 and V2, which in turn are determined by the adjustment directions R1 and R2.
As already indicated above, a length L V of the adjustment range Vges is essentially determined by a length L R of at least one of the latching devices 26 . In the present case, this is twice the length of the first latching device 26-1, ie the length of the toothed rack(s) 54, which is much larger than an extension of the latching lug of the second latching device 26-2 (in the height direction H), minus the length of the second latching device 26-2.
It goes without saying that the locking devices 26 - 1 and 26 - 2 could also be interchanged with regard to their positioning on the
The eccentric arrangement of the
In particular, positions P2 and P4 are advantageous because position P2 is suitable for very short users and because position P4 is suitable for very tall users. Conventional neck pillows would attach to a different location on the
