  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a drive point, and Figure 2 is a schematic side view of a drive point and an arrangement.
  • The drive point 100 comprises two series of ribs, namely a series of outer ribs and a series of inner ribs. The series of outer ribs comprises outer ribs 2 that extend from an outer circumference 14 of the drive point towards a centre axis C of the drive point. On the other hand, the series of inner ribs comprises inner ribs 3 that extend from direction of the centre axis C towards the outer circumference 14 of the drive point.
  • In one embodiment, such as shown in Figures, a space 8 between two neighbouring outer ribs 2, and also a space between two neighbouring inner ribs 3, is larger than thicknesses of said ribs. The thickness of the rib 2, 3 may be constant, or decreasing towards the centre C of the drive point, or increasing towards the centre C of the drive point.
  • The outer rib 2 is provided with an inner face 5 that is faced towards the centre axis C of the drive point, whereas the inner rib 3 is provided with an outer face 6 faced towards outer circumference 14 of the drive point.
  • A gap 4 is construed between said the series of ribs for receiving a distal end 10 of the tubular driven pile 1, as shown in Figure 2. The gap 4 is defined by the inner faces 5 of the outer ribs and the outer faces 6 of the inner ribs 3. The profile of the gap 4 is selected such that its width W between the outer and the inner faces 5, 6 decreases from an upper end 11 of the gap to a lower end 12 of said gap 4.
  • The drive point 100 may be manufactured from a metal material, such as steel. Manufacturing method may be e.g. casting, machining, welding, or combination thereof.
  • The drive point 100 is dimensioned according to the dimensions of the pile 1. The diameter of the drive point 100 is larger than that of the pile. In one embodiment, the diameter of the drive point 100 is 50 mm - 150 mm larger than the diameter of the pile. In an embodiment, the diameter of the drive point 100 is 100 mm larger than the diameter of the pile.
  • The diameter of the pile 1 is typically in the order of magnitude of 75 mm - 500 mm, but may also range up to, for example, 2 m or 3 m. The wall thickness of the pile is typically in the range of 5 mm - 15 mm, but may, for example, range up to 25 mm.
  • Figure 4 is a schematic side view of a detail of the drive point shown in Figure 2 . In one embodiment, the width W at the upper end 11 of the gap is in range of 1 mm - 100 mm, such as 3 mm - 30 mm, preferably 5 mm - 18 mm.
  • In one embodiment, the height of the gap 4 in range of 10 mm - 1000 mm, such as 20 mm - 300 mm, preferably 30 mm - 100 mm.
  • In one embodiment, such as shown in Figure 4, the outer and the inner ribs have at least substantially equal height. In another embodiment, the outer ribs have different height (lower or higher) compared to the inner ribs.
  • In one embodiment, such as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the outer rib 2 is connected to a shell 7 of the drive point at its entire height, or at least the height thereof between the upper end 11 to the lower end 12 of the gap.
  • In one embodiment, at least two of the inner ribs 3 are arranged to unite in the centre axis C of the drive point. In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, all the inner ribs 3 are arranged to unite in the centre axis C of the drive point.
  • In one embodiment, number of the outer ribs 2 is same as the number of the inner ribs 3. In Figure 1, the number of the outer ribs (as well as of the inner ribs) is six, and in Figure 3 said number is nine. It is to be noted that the number may selected in range of two to ten, or even more than ten. However, the stability of the attachment may be improved if there are at least three ribs in at least one of the outer and inner series of ribs.
  • In one embodiment, the width of the rib at the upper end 11 is in range of 5 mm - 30 mm.
  • In another embodiment, there are more outer ribs 2 than inner ribs 3. In still another embodiment, there are fewer outer ribs 2 than inner ribs 3.
  • In one embodiment, such as shown in Figures, the outer ribs 2 are arranged to be aligned with the inner ribs 3. In another embodiment (not shown), the outer ribs 2 are arranged an alternate way with the inner ribs 3.
  • As discussed above, the width W of the gap 4 decreases from the upper end 11 of the gap to the lower end 12 of said gap 4. In an embodiment, this decreasing of the width is realized by arranging the outer face 6 of the inner rib 3 to slant in respect to the centre axis C of the drive point. In this embodiment, the inner face 5 of the outer rib may be parallel or slant in respect to the centre axis C.
  • In one embodiment, the inner face 5 of the outer rib 2 is arranged to slant in respect to the centre axis C of the drive point. In this embodiment, the outer face 6 of the inner rib may be parallel or slant in respect to the centre axis C.
  • In one embodiment, both sides of the gap 4 are arranged to slant in respect to the centre axis C of the drive point. In one embodiment, the angle A is equal on both sides of the gap 4. In another embodiment, the angle A of the inner face 5 differs from the angle A of the outer face 6.
  • In one embodiment, the slant mentioned above means an angle A (shown in Figure 4) of the face 5, 6 in respect to the centre axis C that is selected in range of 0,1° - 60°, preferably 2° - 20°.
  • In one embodiment, such as shown in Figure 4, there is a bevelled section at the upper end 11 of the slant for easing introducing the pile in the drive point.
  • In one embodiment, the angle A is constant at least essentially all the height (in direction of the centre axis C) of the gap 4. In another embodiment, the angle A may vary in the gap 4.
  • According to an aspect, the drive point 100 is a part of an arrangement that further comprises a tubular driven pile 1. An embodiment of the arrangement is shown in Figure 2. The distal end 10 of the tubular driven pile is arranged in the gap 4. The gap 4 is dimensioned such that the distal end 10 of the pile is attached by wedging in the gap 4.
  • In one embodiment of the arrangement, the distal end 10 is attached in the gap 4 such that there is a passage 13, in at least one gap, between the distal end 10 of the tubular driven pile and an inner bottom 16 of the drive point. Thus, there is a route or passage under the distal end 10 of pile that connects the inside of the pile 1 to outside thereof.
  • Figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of another drive point. In an embodiment of the drive point, the inner rib 3 comprises an inner surface 9 arranged at a distance from the centre axis C of the drive point. Thus, there is an empty room 15 in the centre of the drive point 100.
  • Figure 5 is a schematic perspective view of an illustrative example of a drive point. The drive point 100 comprises just the series of inner ribs 3 only, but not the series of the outer ribs 2. This kind of drive point 100 may have a light and simple structure. An example of this embodiment is shown in Figure 5.
  • In another illustrative example, the drive point 100 comprises just the series of outer ribs 2 only, but not the series of the inner ribs 3. This may provide a light and simple structure, too.
