Description

The present invention relates to the recovery and disposal of the excrement of dependent or sick persons, and in particular of their excrement and urine. In the prior art, numerous recovery devices are known, consisting of a generally flexible container, such as a plastic bag, which can be used in particular in combination with a container intended for this purpose, such as a bedpan, a bucket or a chair pan, or a child's potty.

These bags are single-use and usually have a drawstring closure that allows them to be hermetically sealed after use to trap the droppings inside and prevent them from escaping. For example, the American patent US 5,346,311 which describes a flexible bag formed with a peripheral portion, and a locking strap contained within that peripheral portion.

Various patents have been filed to protect the combination of such bags with various complementary devices to facilitate their use or installation. Examples include international applications WO92/02239 And WO93/17643 or the French patent FR 2751529 of July 25, 1996 which protected a particular form of bedpan liner element and which also included a superabsorbent gelling agent.

But whatever the respective advantages of these different inventions, none of them solved the significant difficulty linked to the risk of involuntary or accidental contact of the person handling the bag (in particular care or health personnel) when putting in place and, even more so, removing and closing the said bag once used. However, particularly in a hospital environment, it is essential to combat the spread of all kinds of infections and in particular those which may be linked to the spread of germs or toxins from human excrement via the hands, hand-carried infections.

Examples of bags for collecting vomit are known in the prior art, such as document DE9006151U1 which describes a bag with an open top having a fixed retaining ring welded to the bag which can be inserted into a retaining rail of a support to which the bag is intended to fit to provide good support of the bag for the patient and allow the vomitus to fall into the bottom of the bag. The present invention differs from this prior art in that the bag does not have the same structure as that of this prior art and does not require to be adapted to an external device for its grip and to avoid contact with the dirt.

To make it impossible for the user to come into contact with the various excrement contained in the hygienic bag, the present invention provides for using a hem at the top of the bag inside which the tightening tie slides and for positioning this hem in such a way that, depending on the different situations in which the bag is put in place, the user always has the possibility of accessing the tightening tie from the outside.

The present invention claims that whether the bag is intended to be used independently or used inserted into a container, the hem is made on the external face of the bag, that is to say that the part of the bag which will cover the tightening tie is folded outwards so that one (or more) opening(s) is (are) made in said hem so that the user can position his (or her) hand(s) to manipulate said tie and close the bag while remaining entirely outside the bag and without it (they) being able to come into contact even involuntarily with the contents of the bag.

This hygienic bag, which can hold secretions or excrement and, more broadly, any substance with which it is necessary not to come into direct contact, particularly for health reasons, includes:
a hem (1) located on the outer face of the bag, a tightening tie (3) inserted inside said hem, one or more holes (4) made in the outer hem of the bag at the level of the passage of said tightening tie.

The invention also covers a method of installing a hygienic bag in which the user opens the bag by positioning his or her hands in one or more openings (2) of the hem (1) of said bag, accessible from the outside of the bag, and, once positioned, spreads the walls of the bag by the action of his or her hands outside the bag in order to implement said bag in a position capable of allowing its use and safe handling, without contact of the hands with the inside of the bag, a potentially contaminated area.

Claims (2)

1. Hygienic bag suitable to receive secretions and dejecta and, more generally, any substance with which direct contact must be avoided, in particular for sanitary reasons, and comprising a hem (1) situated on the outer face of the bag, said hem (1) can be folded over towards the outside on the outer face of the bag, creating one or more openings (2) into which the hands can be placed, a closing tie (3) inserted inside said hem, one or more orifices (4) made in the outer hem (1) of the bag for the closing tie to pass through (3), such that the user can position his/her hand(s) to manipulate said tie and close said bag while keeping them entirely outside the bag.
2. Method for fitting a hygienic bag according to claim 1: the user opens the bag by positioning his/her hand(s) in one or more openings (2) in the hem (1) of said bag, accessible from the outside of the bag, once said hem has been folded outwards onto the outer face of the bag, and, once so positioned, spreads the walls of the bag by the action of his/her hand(s) on the outside of the bag in order to place said bag in a position suitable for safe use and handling without the hands coming into contact with the inside of the bag, an area which is potentially contaminated.
