Description

The present invention generally relates to a light guide forming part of a light signaling device of a motor vehicle, such a light guide typically comprising a light source and a guide portion of transparent material, to guide light towards an exit surface visible from the environment outside the vehicle.

Light guides are known in the prior art with several distinct light guide portions cooperating with a light guide or a main guide portion, as shown in the document EP3118060A1 , but this document does not provide any solution for fixing all these guide portions, and this results in a manufacturing complexity to hold all these components together. In addition, a modification of the shape of the main light guide then entails a redefinition of the whole assembly, which then increases the design and tooling costs. EP 3 67 618 A1 discloses a light guide of a signaling device known from the prior art.

An object of the present invention is to respond to the drawbacks of the prior art mentioned above and in particular, first of all, to propose a light guide which offers a simple fixing solution and which allows adaptations of design or design, without requiring long and costly development operations.

For this, a first aspect of the invention relates to a light guide of a vehicle light-signalling device comprising at least one light source arranged to emit at least one signaling light, the light guide comprising:
  • a first guide portion defining a first optical path,
  • a second guide portion defining a second optical path, following the first optical path,
characterized in that the first guide portion and/or the second guide portion is integrally formed with:
  • positioning means arranged to block at least three degrees of freedom between the first guide portion and the second guide portion,
  • locking means comprising at least one flexible portion, arranged to lock the blocking of said degrees of freedom, by elastic deformation of said at least one flexible portion.

The light guide according to the implementation above comprises positioning and locking means integrally formed in the first or second guide portion (the guide portions are separate and independent parts), so that it does not there is no need to provide external fixing, which simplifies the overall system. Typically, these guide portions are made by molding a transparent plastic material. This is for example PMMA (poly(methyl methacrylate)) with a refractive index of 1.49 or polycarbonate with a refractive index of 1.59, and the integration of these positioning and locking means is easy, by simple design of the manufacturing mould. In other words, these two guide portions which integrate their own coupling means between them (made of the same material), provide an integrated fixing solution.

Advantageously, the positioning means are arranged to block at least five degrees of freedom between the first guide portion and the second guide portion. Even more advantageously, the positioning means are arranged to block six degrees of freedom between the first guide portion and the second guide portion, so as to immobilize the two guide portions together.

Advantageously, the positioning means comprise a plurality of support pads arranged on an output surface of the first optical path or on an input surface of the second optical path, and arranged to bear respectively on the input surface of the second optical path or on the output surface of the first optical path, so as to block at least a first degree of freedom in translation along a first direction. Such support pads can for example block a translation in X, and also one or two rotations along an axis perpendicular to this direction.

    • a first output surface, arranged at the output of the first optical path of the first guide portion
  • a second guide portion comprising:
    • a second input surface arranged to capture and direct the light emitted by the first output surface towards a second optical path of the second guide portion
    • a second output surface, arranged at the output of the second optical path of the second guide portion
characterized in that the first guide portion and/or the second guide portion is integrally formed with:
  • positioning means arranged to block at least three degrees of freedom between the first exit surface and the second entry surface,
  • locking means comprising at least one flexible portion, arranged to lock the blocking of said degrees of freedom, by elastic deformation of said at least one flexible portion.

Advantageously, the positioning means are arranged to block at least five degrees of freedom between the first exit surface and the second entry surface.

Advantageously, the positioning means comprise a plurality of bearing studs arranged on one of the first exit surface or the second entry surface, and arranged to rest on the other of the first exit surface or of the second entry surface, so as to block at least a first degree of freedom in translation in a first direction. Such support pads can for example block a translation in X, and also one or two rotations along an axis perpendicular to this direction.

Le deuxième degré de liberté est typiquement selon la direction Y.Advantageously, the positioning means comprise a plurality of hooks arranged on one of the first guide portion or the second guide portion, so as to mate with the other of the first guide portion or the second guide portion, so as to lock the first degree of freedom in the second direction, and to block at least a second degree of freedom in translation. Advantageously, the positioning means and the locking means comprise at least one flexible lug arranged on one of the first guide portion or the second guide portion, so as to mate with the other of the first portion guide or the second guide portion, so as to block at least a third degree of freedom in translation and to lock the first guide portion on the second guide portion. The third degree of freedom is typically in the direction Z. It is possible to envisage engagement or coupling by elastic interlocking, otherwise called clipping or clipping.

Advantageously, the first guide portion and/or the second guide portion are thin and/or planar guide portions. In other words, the guide portions have a cross section (typically perpendicular to the optical path, i.e. the path of light) which has a width that is significantly less than its length, and the total optical path has a length also significantly greater than the width of the cross section.

Advantageously, said at least one light source is fixed to the first guide portion.

Advantageously, the light guide comprises two light sources, each arranged to emit specific signaling light.

A third aspect of the invention relates to a motor vehicle, comprising at least one light guide according to the first aspect of the invention.

Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the following detailed description of an embodiment of the invention given by way of non-limiting example and illustrated by the appended drawings, in which:
  • the figure 1 represents a general view of a light guide according to the invention;
  • the picture 2 shows a rear view of the light guide of the figure 1 ;
  • the picture 3 represents a first guide portion of the light guide of the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 4 represents a second guide portion of the light guide of the figure 1 ;

  • the figure 8 represents another detail of the light guide of the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 9 shows two schematic embodiments of the light guide of the figure 1 .

The figure 1 presents a light guide according to the present invention, comprising a first guide portion 10 coupled to a second guide portion 20. By convention in the present application, the first guide portion 10 defines a first optical path which is upstream (c that is to say close to the light source), and the second guide portion 20 forms a second optical path which is downstream (that is to say that the first guide portion 10 is located between the source of light and the second guide portion 20). Typically this is the second serving guide 20 and in particular its exit surface which will be visible to the customer.

In this way, it is easy to provide, for example, the first guide portion 10 with a standard shape, and to model the exit surface 20s of the second guide portion 20 to respect the appearance constraints, so that the guide light comprises a first guide portion 10 standard usable on several vehicle models and a second guide portion 20 whose output is specific to a given vehicle.

The picture 2 represents a rear view of the first guide portion 10 which embeds the light sources, which are here one or more light-emitting diodes (LEDs or LEDs) mounted on an electronic circuit 40.

La figure 5 montre en gros plan ces plots 31.The invention also proposes an integrated fixing solution for securing the first guide portion 10 and the second guide portion 20, as shown by the figures 3 and 4 . In fact, studs 31 are formed on an entry surface 20e of the second guide portion 20, which bear against an exit surface 10s of the first guide portion 10. These studs 31 therefore form part of means of positioning, and which block a first degree of freedom, here a translation along an X axis of the vehicle. The figure 5 shows in close-up these plots 31.

The positioning means also comprise hooks 32b formed on the entry surface 20e of the second guide portion 20 (visible figure 4 ), which are housed in openings 32a formed in the exit surface 10s of the first guide portion 10. These hooks 32b and openings 32a are part of the positioning means, and then block a second degree of freedom, here a translation along a Y axis of the vehicle. The figures 6 and 7 show in close-up and from two different angles the assembled parts, with the hooks 32b engaged in the openings 32a.

La figure 8 représente un gros plan de la patte flexible 32a engagée avec le taquet 33b.In addition, a flexible tab 33a is provided on the first guide portion 10, to cooperate with a catch 33b of the second guide portion, to block the last degree of freedom in translation (in the direction Z), and also to s Engage after deformation and elastic return on the cleat 33b (by clipping or clipping or elastic interlocking), so as to also form locking means, in addition to being part of the positioning means. The figure 8 shows a close-up of flexible tab 32a engaged with cleat 33b.

In summary, the studs 31, the openings 32a, the hooks 32b, the flexible tab 33a and the cleat 33b form means for positioning the first guide portion 10 on the second guide portion 20 and are integrated on these parts (made for example in a single block by injection/moulding in a single material). Part of these positioning means also form locking means, so that the first guide portion 10 is firmly fixed to the second guide portion 20 to form the light guide according to the invention.

The figure 9 represents two alternative embodiments of the light guide according to the invention which is coupled to two types of light sources 41 and 42.

In the left view, the light sources 41 and 42 are stacked or offset along a direction normal to this view, fixed on a printed circuit 43, and facing a single input surface of the first portion guide 10, which is coupled with the positioning and locking means with the second guide portion 20.

In the view on the right, the light sources 41 and 42 are separated, so that the first guide portion 10' has two entry surfaces, and a single exit surface, which faces the entry surface of the second guide portion 20'.

In any event, only the second guide portion 20 or 20' is visible from the outside, so that only the latter would have to be modified in the event of adaptation to a new vehicle. In addition, the interfaces (positioning means and locking means) between the first guide portion 10 or 10' and the second guide portion 20 or 20' are identical, and always integrated directly into the body of these parts, which are then of easy to manufacture and assemble.
