Description

A MOTOR SUITABLE FOR QUICK CONNECTION
  • The present invention relates to an electric motor suitable for quick electrical connection.
  • Electric motors comprise the stationary stator, the rotating rotor and the terminal group for energizing the stator windings from a source. Said terminal group comprises the terminal plate with stud bolts, the terminal block, the whip group and the nut. In order to make the terminal group connection, first the whip cables are connected to the motor winding ends. After connecting the whip group integrated with the stator winding ends to the cable shoes, the shoe is connected onto the stud bolt. Finally, the nut is placed onto the cable shoe. In this structure, the principal function of the nut is to fix the cable shoe by taking the stud bolt as the reference axis.
  • Using the nut as the fixing element necessitates an additional process for completing the electrical connection of the motor. This in turn causes the electrical connection of the motor to be completed slowly. Moreover, the use of nut increases material costs and the length of the stud bolt to be increased. The length of the stud bolt being high results in increasing the height of the terminal box. Increase in the height of the motor terminal box causes the height of the motor to increase.
  • In the state of the art United States of America Patent Documents No. US5665939 and US2014111044, connection methods for facilitating the motor electrical connection are disclosed.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of an electric motor with a terminal connection form which enables the motor electrical connection to be performed quickly.
  • The electric motor realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a special claw structure at the cable shoe. The claw structure on the cable shoe and a terminal plate with which said structure forms a holding surface are provided. Thus, without requiring any additional connection element such as nut, etc., terminal connections are realized. By eliminating the need for any additional connection element, the size of terminal group elements such as stud bolt, etc. can be decreased, which in turn enables the dimensions of the motor terminal box to be reduced. Thus, a compact motor structure is obtained. In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection between the cable shoe and the terminal plate is performed by using a terminal plate with T-shaped hollow structure.
  • The electric motor realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of the electric motor and the terminal box with the cover thereof being open.
  • Figure 2 - is the top view of the electric motor and the terminal box with the cover thereof being open.
  • Figure 3 - is the perspective view of the terminal group and the connection thereof.
  • Figure 4 - is the sideways view of the terminal group and the connection thereof.
  • Figure 5 - is the view of the assembly of the terminal group.
  • The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
    1. Electric motor
    2. Body
    3. Rotor shaft group
    4. Door
    5. Foot
    6. Fan cover
    7. Terminal box
    8. Terminal block group
    9. Nut
    10. Cable shoe of the prior art
    11. Terminal plate of the prior art
    12. Stud bolt
    13. Metal bridge
    14. Whip cable
    15. Cable shoe of the present invention
    16. Terminal plate of the present invention
  • The electric motor (1) comprises
    • a body (2) which constitutes the outer component,
    • a rotor shaft group (3) which constitutes the rotary component,
    • a cover (4) which provides the isolation between the inner and outer environments, and
    • a foot (5) which enables the body (2) to be seated on a floor, a fan cover (6) which covers the fan, a terminal box (7) and a terminal group (8).
  • The terminal group (8) comprises a terminal plate (11); a stud bolt (12) which is fixed onto said terminal plate (11); a plurality of cable shoes (10) via which the motor winding ends are directly connected to the terminal group (8); a metal bridge (13) for short-circuiting the cable shoes (10); and a nut (9) for fixing the cable shoes (10) onto the stud bolt (12).
  • The connection of the terminal group (8) of the electric motor (1) starts by fitting the cable shoe (10) over the stud bolt (12). A nut (9) is used as an additional connection element for fixing the cable shoe (10) to the stud bolt (12), and with an additional process which is tightening the nut (9), the electrical and mechanical connection is completed.
  • In the electric motor (1) of the present invention, an additional element such as nut (9), etc. is not used. The cable shoe (15) of the present invention is fitted over the stud bolt (12) and then fitted into the terminal plate (16) of the present invention without requiring any additional connection element, thus forming a holding surface and completing the electrical and mechanical connection. The process which does not contain any additional connection element such as nut (9), etc. provides that the assembly can be more easily and quickly completed in the electric motors (1) having a plurality of cable shoes (15).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, as an additional connection element such as nut (9), etc. is not required, a stud bolt (12) with a lower height with respect to the prior art can be used.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, since no additional connection element is required, the height of the terminal box (7) can be reduced with respect to the prior art. Thus, an electric motor (1) with a more compact structure can be designed.
  • In the production of the electric motor (1) of the present invention, an additional connection element such as nut, etc. is not used especially in models with a plurality of cable shoes (15) while making the connection of the terminal group (8), and the cable shoe (15) of the present invention is quickly and easily mounted to the terminal plate (16) of the present invention. Thus, the need for an additional connection element and assembly time for connection elements is eliminated.
