Description

The invention relates to a folding device for flat material webs, in particular for folding or continuously folding material webs based on cellulose, paper, plastic and/or wire mesh and/or based on combinations or laminates of the aforementioned materials. The material web to be folded can be a wire mesh-reinforced material web based on cellulose, paper, plastic or similar materials. The folding device according to the invention has an infeed table for the continuous feeding of the web of material and at least one folding bar with a folding blade fixed thereto, which is set up for specific folding heights. The folding beam can be moved up and down in cycles, so that folds can be introduced into the material web with the folding knife acting on the material web. The web of material is expediently folded in the manner of bellows by means of this folding device, specifically in particular continuously folded in the manner of bellows.

Folding devices of the type mentioned above, see for example US 5,961,435A , are known from practice and from the prior art in various variants. The folding knives are usually fixed to the associated folding beam with screws, bolts or similar fixing elements. Each folding knife is set up for specific folding heights and has a corresponding knife height h.

Insoweit besteht Verbesserungsbedarf. If the height of the folds to be made in the material web is to be changed, in the folding devices known from practice the folding knife fixed to the folding beam must first be dismantled and replaced with another folding knife of an alternative knife height h, which is set up for alternative folding heights. These measures are expensive. The continuous operation of the device is interrupted by such a folding knife replacement for an undesirably long period of time. Incidentally, the disassembly or assembly of the folding knife is also error-prone. As a result, these known measures are also included relatively high effort and relatively high costs. In this respect, there is a need for improvement.

In contrast, the invention is based on the technical problem of specifying a folding device of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the folding knife of the folding beam can be changed in a simple, inexpensive and functionally reliable manner.

To solve this technical problem, the invention teaches a folding device of the type described at the beginning, which is characterized in that at least one further second folding knife is fixed to the folding bar and that by rotating the folding bar about an axis of rotation R extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the folding bar instead of the first folding knife the second folding knife is available for introducing the folds into the web of material.

It has already been explained above that the continuously supplied webs of material are preferably webs of material based on cellulose, paper, plastic and/or wire mesh or combinations or laminates of these materials. According to one embodiment variant, the folded webs of material are used for filter media. It is within the scope of the invention that the folds are introduced into the web of material with the proviso that the web of material is folded like a bellows.

It is also within the scope of the invention that a folding beam and the folding knives connected to it are arranged perpendicularly or essentially perpendicularly to the feed direction or to the longitudinal direction of the material web. A folding knife expediently extends in the longitudinal direction of the associated one Folding bar, preferably over at least most of the length of the associated folding bar. It is recommended that a folding knife be fixed to the associated folding beam by means of fixing elements such as screws, bolts, clamping elements or the like. It is within the scope of the invention for a folding knife to protrude beyond its knife height h over the edge of the associated folding beam.

According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the first folding knife and the at least one further or second folding knife are each set up for different folding heights. The at least two folding knives expediently protrude to different extents over the associated folding beam. - A highly recommended embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the first folding knife and another second folding knife are arranged on opposite longitudinal sides of the folding beam. By rotating the folding bar around the axis of rotation by an angle of rotation of 150° to 210°, in particular 160° to 200°, preferably 170° to 190° and very preferably 175° to 185°, the respective other folding knife is then preferably ready for folding to disposal. According to a very proven embodiment, the two folding knives are arranged on opposite long sides of the folding bar and by rotating the folding bar about the axis of rotation by 180° or by about 180°, the other folding knife is available for folding.

According to one embodiment of the invention, at least three folding knives are fixed to the folding bar at a mutual distance and the folding knives are changed by rotating the folding bar by an angle of rotation corresponding to the distance between the folding knives. Expediently, the at least three or the three Folding knife fixed evenly distributed over the circumference of the folding beam. The rotation of the folding bar to change a folding blade is then expediently carried out by 120° or by approximately 120° or by 240° or by approximately 240°.

It is within the scope of the invention that the folding knives of the first folding bar are set up as upper knives and that a second folding bar is arranged below the first folding bar, which has at least one counter-folding knife, which acts as a lower knife for interacting with a folding knife of the first working as an upper knife Folding beam is set up. The statement that the second folding bar is arranged below the first folding bar relates to the erected state of the device with the first folding bar on the upper side and the second folding bar on the lower side. The interaction between a folding knife of the first folding bar functioning as an upper knife and a counter-folding knife of the second folding bar functioning as a lower knife takes place as follows: During the up and down movement of the first folding bar, a folding knife of the first folding bar functioning as an upper knife slides directly over the surface a counter-folding knife of the second folding beam that functions as a bottom knife. In this way, functionally reliable folds can be formed in the continuously fed web of material and the web of material can in this way be folded in particular in the manner of bellows.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the second folding bar has at least two counter-folding knives. By rotating the second folding bar about a second axis of rotation extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the second folding bar, the first or second counter-folding blade fixed to the second folding bar is then preferably available as the lower blade. Two counter-folding knives are recommended fixed on opposite sides or on opposite longitudinal sides of the second folding bar. Expediently, a changeover between the two counter-folding knives takes place by rotating the folding beam about its axis of rotation, specifically preferably by rotating it through an angle of rotation of 180° or approximately 180°. At least three counter-folding knives, in particular three counter-folding knives, are fixed as lower knives on the second folding beam.

The same features and measures as described for the first folding bar preferably apply to the second folding bar or to the counter-folding knives fixed thereto, in particular with regard to the number and/or arrangement and/or fixing and/or rotation or rotation angle of the folding knives or counters -folding knife. In order to avoid repetition, reference is therefore made to the features of the first folding beam.

A particularly recommended embodiment of the invention is characterized in that each counter-folding knife of the second folding bar is adapted to a folding knife of the first folding bar with regard to the desired folding heights and that a folding knife and a complementary counter -Folding knives can be converted into a folding position. In the context of the invention, the folding position of folding knife and counter-folding knife means in particular that after the rotation of the first or second folding bar, the folding knife interacts with the corresponding counter-folding knife during the subsequent folding process.

Für einen Wechsel eines Faltmessers des ersten Faltbalkens und für einen Wechsel des Gegen-Faltmessers des zweiten Faltbalkens können die beiden Faltbalken gleichzeitig oder in etwa gleichzeitig um ihre Rotationsachse gedreht werdenTo change a folding knife of the first folding bar and to change the counter-folding knife of the second folding bar, the two folding bars can be rotated around their axis of rotation at the same time or approximately at the same time

In principle, however, the two folding beams can also be rotated one after the other.

It is recommended that the knife height h 1 of a first folding knife is at least 1.2 times, preferably at least 1.3 times, preferably at least 1.4 times and very preferably at least 1.5 times the knife height h 2 of a second folding knife of the folding beam. Furthermore, as has been proven, the knife height h 1 of a first counter-folding knife is at least 1.2 times, preferably at least 1.3 times, preferably at least 1.4 times and very preferably at least 1.5 times as large as the knife height h 2 a second counter folding knife of the second folding beam.

The invention is based on the knowledge that with the folding device according to the invention a very simple and inexpensive change from one folding knife or counter-folding knife to another folding knife or counter-folding knife is possible. Elaborate disassembly and assembly work is not required with the device according to the invention. A quick change of the upper and lower knives is only possible by rotating the folding beam. In this respect, the operation or the continuous operation of the device is only briefly interrupted. It should be emphasized that these advantageous measures can be implemented at relatively low cost. The invention is thus characterized by simplicity, little effort and low cost.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing that merely shows an exemplary embodiment. They show in a schematic representation:
1
a view of the device according to the invention,
2
a side view of a folding beam of the device according to the invention with two connected folding knives and
3
according to a section through the object 2 .

The figures show a folding device according to the invention for flat material webs 1, specifically for the continuous folding of these material webs 1. In the exemplary embodiment, it may be a wire mesh-reinforced material web 1 based on cellulose. Expediently and in the exemplary embodiment, the continuously fed web of material 1 is folded in the manner of bellows. The enlarged section of the 1 shows the folds 7 introduced into the material web 1 with such a bellows-like fold. - In the 1 is also shown that the material web 1 is fed continuously via an infeed table 2 and is guided between two folding bars 3, 4 arranged behind the infeed table 2 in the feed direction. To produce the fold, the first upper folding bar 3 is moved up and down in cycles so that the bellows-like fold is realized in the web of material. The folding beams 3, 4 expediently extend perpendicularly to the feed direction or to the longitudinal direction of the material web 1.

Two folding knives 5, 6 are preferably fixed to the upper folding beam 3 and, in the exemplary embodiment, project over the folding beam 3 on opposite sides of this folding beam 3. The folding knives 5, 6 protrude beyond the edge of the folding beam 3 by their knife height h. - Recommended and in the exemplary embodiment, the lower second folding bar 4 has two counter-folding knives 8, which preferably and in the exemplary embodiment protrude on opposite sides of the second lower folding bar 4 over the edge of the folding bar 4, namely over their knife height h. The two folding knives 5, 6 of the first upper folding bar 3 function during the folding as an upper knife and the two counter-folding knives 8 of the second lower folding bar 4 function as lower knives during the fold. The folding knives 5, 6 of the first folding bar 3 have a different knife height h. The knife height h of the counter-folding knife 8 of the second lower folding beam 4 is also expediently different. In order to switch from one folding knife 5 to the other folding knife 6 during folding, the first upper folding bar 3 is preferably rotated and in the exemplary embodiment rotated about an axis of rotation extending parallel to its longitudinal direction, in particular and in the exemplary embodiment rotated by 180°. This is for example in the 3 indicated by a corresponding arrow. To change the counter-folding knife 8 of the second lower folding bar 4, this is also preferred and rotated in the exemplary embodiment about an axis of rotation oriented parallel to its longitudinal direction, specifically preferably and rotated by 180° in the exemplary embodiment.

Changing from one folding knife 5 to another folding knife 6 or from one counter-folding knife 8 to another counter-folding knife 8 can therefore be achieved by simply rotating the first folding bar 3 or the second folding bar 4 about the respective axis of rotation R. This rotation change of the folding knife 5, 6 or counter-folding knife 8 can be carried out easily, quickly and with little effort. Complicated assembly and disassembly work is not necessary in comparison to the measures known from the prior art. In contrast to the folding devices known from practice, the operation of the folding device according to the invention only has to be briefly interrupted to change the knives. In this way, an increase in production speed is also achieved.
