Abstract
The present invention relates to a household appliance in which energy transmission into the drum is performed wirelessly, comprising at least one permanent magnet provided around the annular cross-section of the drum and fixed with respect to the body, and at least one inductor rotatable together with the drum with respect to the body, capable of generating a potential difference according to the magnetic flux changing thereon.
Description
-
Technical Field - The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a drum, such as a washing machine and a dryer.
-
Prior Art - In washing machines and dryers, the laundry items are placed into a drum rotatable about an axis. While rotating, the drum rotates the laundry items, thereby enabling a smooth washing and/or drying of all of the laundry items therein. Electrical applications which may be performed in the drums of washing machines and/or dryers have become more common with the advances in technology. For example, many applications such as illuminating the interior of a drum, measuring the temperature in a drum, detecting the colors of the laundry items in a drum, require electronic components and energy to operate these components. In the state of the art, this required energy is transmitted to a drum by using components such as a slipring. Since mechanical parts like the slipring are frictional, they may cause the transmitted energy to become parasitic, the drum to rotate loudly, and the related appliance to break down often due to abrasion on said mechanical part. Using a dynamo on a drum lead to losing high amounts of energy due to friction, consequently reducing the energy efficiency of the related household appliance.
- State of the art United States patent document no. US2014355247 mentions a washing machine with an electromagnetic structure enabling transmitting energy into a drum.
- None of the state of the art documents include a solution such as the one in the present invention.
-
Brief Description of the Invention - The aim of the present invention is to realize a household appliance enabling energy transmission into the drum.
- Another aim of the present invention is to realize a household appliance in which energy transmission into the drum is performed wirelessly.
-
Detailed Description of the Invention - The household appliance enabling energy transmission into its drum, comprises in its most basic form,
- at least one body having an enclosed shape with at least one internal volume,
- at least one preferably cylindrical drum provided in the internal volume of the body, suitable for placing therein the laundry items desired to be washed or dried,
- at least one permanent magnet provided in the internal volume of the body around the annular cross-section of the drum, fixed with respect to the body, and
- at least one inductor provided on the drum, rotatable together with the drum with respect to the body, capable of generating a potential difference according to the magnetic flux changing thereon.
- In its most basic form, the household appliance enabling energy transmission into its drum, comprises at least one body having an enclosed shape with at least one internal volume. At least one drum is provided in the inner portion of the body, suitable for placing therein the laundry items desired to be washed and/or dried. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the drum is shaped as a hollow cylinder. At least one permanent magnet fixed with respect to the body, is provided around the annular cross-section of the drum. At least one inductor is provided on the drum, rotatable together with the drum with respect to the body. While the inductor rotates together with the drum, the distance between the inductor and the permanent magnet changes. The magnetic flux on the inductor changes as its distance to the permanent magnet change. As a result of this change in the magnetic flux, a potential difference is generated between the ends of the inductor. Thus, in the household appliance of the invention, the inductor generates electricity as the drum rotates. Since the inductor is fixed with respect to the drum, electricity generation does not cause any friction. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the components in the drum requiring electricity are supplied via a resistor provided between the ends of the inductor.
- In the preferred embodiment of the invention, a plurality of permanent magnets are provided around the annular cross-section of the drum. Preferably, the permanent magnets are arranged at equal angles around a circle.
- In an embodiment of the invention, the ends of the inductor directly supply at least one load. The load may be any electrical or electronic component such as, but not limited to, a light source, heat sensor, camera, color sensor and the like.
- In an embodiment of the invention, the outlet of the inductor is coupled to a rectifier. The alternative current generated by the inductor is thus converted to direct current.
- In an embodiment of the invention, the electricity generated by the inductor is stored in at least one storage means. Said storage means may be, but not limited to a battery, accumulator, or a capacitor. Thus, electricity can be supplied into the drum even when the drum does not rotate.
