Abstract
A description is given of a duvet cover made up of a basic structure (1) consisting of a bag of rectangular/square shape (according to the single, queen or king size) having dimensions corresponding to the duvet for the type of bed on which it is to be applied plus the part useful for tucking. This product is to be visualised as "a frame and a picture". It is to be provided above with a large rectangular window (5), and a covering cloth layer (2) intended to close the window (5) through coupling means (3, 4) placed between said basic structure (1) and said covering cloth layer (2).
Description
- The subject of the present utility model is a duvet cover that allows facilitated insertion of the duvet.
- The duvet or continental quilt is a type of bed linen extremely widespread in Italy and not only as a replacement for, or as an alternative to, classic blankets, or quilts, and used with duvets of different weights or alone even in spring/summer periods.
- The duvet is formed by a soft "bag" full of down, feathers or synthetic alternatives, which is inserted into a removable cover, the so-called duvet cover.
- The duvet cover is created as a bag sewn on three sides and opened at the bottom to insert the duvet, like a large pillowcase.
- Such a bag-like conformation of the duvet cover makes the insertion of the duvet therein somewhat laborious, an operation that must be carried out at every weekly change, since it was created to be used in direct contact without the use of the upper flat sheet for hygiene reasons.
- Moreover, it is necessary to have several duvet covers in order to change the aesthetic appearance of the product, which is found to be uneconomical.
- In recent years, in order to try to facilitate the insertion of the duvet, especially in the king size, i.e. the larger size, some companies have tried to offer duvet covers consisting of two cloth layers joined together by zips or snap fasteners.
- However, these solutions have not proved satisfactory, both because of the rather high cost and because, after some washing and ironing operations, the duvet cover was defective or could no longer be closed.
- The object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the duvet covers of the prior art illustrated above.
- In particular, the objects of the invention are:
- to provide a duvet cover that allows a quick and easy insertion of the duvet, especially in the king size;
- to reduce the cost for the purchase of the "aesthetic part" only and to allow the consumer to personalise their bed according to personal taste for colour and pattern combinations;
- to provide such a duvet cover, which can easily be transformed to change its aesthetic appearance, without substantial cost increases, and therefore for companies it could be an opportunity to move the market and fight the poor quality competitors who offer products at low prices that follow "fashion";
- for companies, moreover, it will be possible to use the "aesthetic part" for two sizes currently on the market, the single and the queen, sale and unsold stock of which are a real problem today because of the changing habits of families, who often no longer use one or the other size of bed according to the age of the children, and it is therefore more difficult to plan production.
- These and other objects are achieved by the duvet cover according to the invention that has the features of the appended
independent claim 1. - Advantageous embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the dependent claims.
- Substantially, the duvet cover according to the invention is made up of a basic structure consisting of a bag of rectangular/square shape with dimensions corresponding to the type of duvet on which it is to be applied, king, queen, single, provided above with a large rectangular window and a covering cloth layer intended to close the window by means of coupling means placed between said basic structure and said covering cloth layer.
- Further features of the invention will be made clearer by the following detailed description referred to one of its embodiments purely by way of a non-limiting example, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
Figure 1 is an extremely simplified view of the duvet cover according to the invention, showing its two components separately; -
Figure 2 schematically illustrates the use of the duvet cover on a bed; -
Figure 3 shows schematically a bed with the duvet cover according to the invention. -
Figure 1 shows, in a very schematic manner, a duvet cover according to the invention, consisting of two parts: abasic structure 1 and a coveringcloth layer 2. - The
basic structure 1 has a rectangular/square shape, whose dimensions vary according to the type of bed on which the duvet is to be placed: king, queen or single, and is made from two cloth layers sewn on the four sides or a single cloth layer folded on itself and sewn on the remaining three sides. - On one face of the
basic structure 1 made in this way, that is on its upper cloth layer intended to remain visible during use, a largerectangular window 5 is formed, for the insertion of the duvet, which is closed by the coveringcloth layer 2, by means of suitable means of coupling. - Purely by way of example, these coupling means in
Figure 1 are shown asbuttons 3 provided on thestructure 1 and eyelets orloops 4 on the coveringcloth layer 2. It is however clear that other coupling means are possible, such as snap fasteners, zips, Velcro, and the like. - The duvet cover configured according to the invention allows the duvet to be inserted very easily and quickly into the
basic structure 1 through its largefront opening 5, which is then closed in an equally easy and rapid manner with the coveringcloth layer 2, by the coupling means 3, 4. - Thanks to the composition of the duvet cover, consisting of a
basic structure 1 and a coveringcloth layer 2, the user can easily renew the image of their bedroom in an absolutely personal way, at low cost, having available several covering cloth layers of different colours and/or patterns, to be combined with one or more basic structures. - Likewise, manufacturers of duvet covers will be able to offer collections with one or a limited number of
basic structures 1 and different coveringcloth layers 2 that follow fashion colours and patterns, to be combined with the basic structures, with a much lower cost of production and therefore of sale to the public. -
Figure 2 shows schematically the use of the duvet cover according to the invention on aking bed 10. - The drawing farthest left schematically shows the bed with only the
basic structure 1 of the duvet cover, while the drawing on the right shows the application of thecovering cloth layer 2 shown in the central drawing. - These illustrative drawings clearly show how it is possible to vary the aesthetic appearance of the bed simply by changing the covering
cloth layer 2. -
Figure 3 is a schematic view of aking bed 10 prepared with a duvet inserted in a duvet cover according to the invention. - The basic structure of the duvet cover according to the invention will be produced in the three sizes on the market: king, queen, single bed.
- Only two sizes will be sufficient for the covering cloth layers: one size for the king and one size that fits both a single bed and a queen bed.
- By way of example, the three sizes mentioned above are given below, with the understanding that sizes different therefrom could also be adopted.
- 1. King basic structure: 250 x 250 cm approximately (170 cm plane arm to arm width + 40 cm per side x 200 cm head to foot length + 50 cm seam for tucking and mattress height).
Covering cloth layer: 190 x 170 cm (including 10 cm per ruffle part). - 2. Queen basic structure: 200 x 250 cm approximately (120 cm plane arm to arm width + 40 cm per side x 200 cm head to foot length + 50 cm seam for tucking and mattress height).
Covering cloth layer: 150 x 170 cm (including 10 cm per ruffle part). - 3. Single bed basic structure: 150 x 250 cm approximately (80 cm plane arm to arm width + 35 cm per side x 200 cm head to foot length + 50 cm seam for tucking and mattress height).
Covering cloth layer: 150 x 170 cm (including 10 cm per ruffle part). - From what has been disclosed above, the advantages of the duvet cover according to the invention, which allows an easy and quick insertion of the duvet therein and the varying of the aesthetic appearance of the same at low cost, are clear.
- Naturally the invention is not limited to the particular embodiment previously described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, but numerous detailed changes may be made thereto, within the reach of the person skilled in the art, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention itself, defined by the appended claims.
