Description

    Technical Field
  • The invention in general relates to a lifting arm mechanism for lifting the counterweight sets which are used for supporting the balance of knuckle boom cranes.
  • The invention in particular relates to a lifting arm mechanism for lifting the counterweight set which is used for supporting the balance of the load being hoisted, in knuckle boom cranes.
  • Prior Art
  • Today, in currently used knuckle boom cranes, the counterweight sets which are used for balancing the hoisted weight, are attached to the crane body. These counterweight sets attached to the crane body, cannot move along the horizontal and vertical directions. They can only rotate through 360 degrees along with the crane body it is attached to.
  • In the prior art, knuckle boom cranes with fly jib, the fly jib stays on the body when it is not mounted. When the crane is operated about its axis around the hub, the motion of the counterweight set connected to the crane body, hit the fly jib and the crane cannot rotate. Since the mentioned counterweight set lacks the ability to move in horizontal and vertical directions, the fly jib is required to be removed from the chassis. Removing the fly jib from the chassis requires using a forklift or a crane.
  • Due to these problems encountered in the state of the art, time and labor losses occur. Due to the required means to be used in order to take the fly jib off the vehicle, economic losses occur.
  • Regarding the patent survey of prior art, the technical content of the application no. TR2010/06277 relates to a knuckle boom cranes designed as construction machinery for commercial use and used for hoisting by being mounted onto commercial vehicles such as trucks. It comprises front and rear inner shells which may have vertical moving pistons that move the fixing stabilizers, which come in contact with the ground, in the vertical direction, front and rear outer shells through which the front and rear inner shells perform linear motion, case beds which provide bearing for the front and rear outer shells performing linear motion, a chassis to which the case beds are fixed, and a tower which performs rotation through 360° around the slewing ring introduced on the chassis which is mounted to the truck.
  • Regarding the patent survey of the prior art, as seen in the technical content of the patent application no. TR2010/06277 , motion of the counterweight set along horizontal and vertical axes are not provided. Therefore, blocking by the fly jib and interfering with the operation is still a matter of concern.
  • Regarding the patent survey of the prior art, US2007/122261 discloses the preamble of claim 1. More in details, it discloses an apparatus for detaching and attaching a counterweight. The counterweight disclosed in US2007/122261 is selectively raised and lowered with respect to the frame through pivoting of a second link by a second drive portion. There is no teaching in US2007/122261 to motivate the skilled person to solve the problem of hitting the jib by moving it along the X axis and the Y axis.
  • Regarding the patent survey of the prior art, JPS4977341A discloses a movable counterweight that is provided for flatness and balance of a crane boom. As understood from the description and the figures of JPS4977341A while driving position, disclosed design cannot change the center of gravity of excavator with changing position of counterweight. With the present invention, while driving position, the weight distribution for per axles can be controlled with transposing the counterweights on the counterweight pools that is located on the behind side of truck cabin. On the other hand, while working position, with the same counterweight will be more counter moment within creasing the distance between the counterweight and center of rotation.
  • Regarding the patent survey of the prior art, JPH08333776A describes a counterweight fitting/removing device. Changing center of gravity is necessary for distributing the weight. While driving position, the device disclosed in JPH08333776A cannot change the center of gravity of excavator with changing position of counterweight.
  • Therefore, developments are required in the counterweight lifting arm mechanism, and new embodiments which overcome the aforementioned disadvantages and provide a solution for the current systems is needed.
  • Description of the Invention
  • The invention relates to a lifting arm mechanism which meets all of aforementioned requirements, overcomes all disadvantages and provides further advantages.
  • The main object of the invention is to ensure the operation without being blocked by the fly jib by allowing the counterweight set to move along horizontal and vertical axes by means of the lifting arm mechanism.
  • An object of the invention is to allow the counterweight set to be lifted.
  • Another object of the invention is to eliminate the need to remove the fly jib from the chassis.
  • Another object of the invention is to prevent time losses, labor losses and economic losses, by eliminating the need for using machinery such as forklifts and cranes, to take the fly jib off the chassis.
  • An object of the invention is to contribute to load balancing by allowing the counterweight set to be moved along horizontal and vertical axes.
  • In order to realize the advantages which are mentioned above and can be inferred from the detailed description below, the invention is a lifting arm mechanism which is mounted onto a crane main body in order to allow a counterweight to be moved, wherein; it comprises, a main arm which is in connection with said crane main body and the support arm for transmission of motion, the support arm which is connected to the main arm on one end and which allows positioning the counterweight on the other hand, and transmits the motion, and drive members which are connected to said main arm and said support arm in order to transmit the required drive to the main arm and the support arm.
  • The structural and characteristic features and all of the advantages of the invention shall become apparent with the appended drawings and the detailed description with reference to these drawings. Therefore, assessment should be based on these drawings and the detailed description.

The invention relates to a lifting arm mechanism (100) which is mounted onto the crane main body (101) in order to allow the counterweight (106) to be moved. A main arm (102) which provides transmission of the motion by being connected to said crane main body (101) and the support arm (103). The support arm (103) which is connected to the main arm (102) on one end and which allows positioning the counterweight (106) on the other hand, and transmits the motion, is introduced. The required drive is delivered to the main arm (101) and the support arm (103) through cylinders for counterweight (104), which are connected to said main arm (101) and said support arm (103). A counterweight recess (103.1) extends into the support arm (103) in order to prevent said counterweight (106) from hitting the support arm (103) when elevated to the maximum height. Said counterweight recess (103.1) can open 90 degree to be suitable for the corner of the counterweight (106). Intermediate support members (107) ensure said main arms (102) and the support arms (103) to operate in synchrony and enhance the strength of the lifting arm mechanism (100). Said intermediate support members (107) are preferably tube shaped. A connector (105) is connected to the support arm (103) in order to provide a positioning surface for said counterweight (106).
  • Figure-3 depicts a two dimensional side view of the counterweight (106) of the lifting arm mechanism (100) of the invention at maximum height.
  • The operational principle of the lifting arm mechanism (100) of the invention is as follows;
The main arms (102) which are connected to the crane main body (101) which rotates about crane rotation axis (D), are moved along the X axis (X) and the Y axis (Y) by means of the cylinders for counterweight (104). The support arms (103) which are connected to said main arms (102) are moved along the X axis (X) and the Y axis (Y) by means of the cylinders for counterweight (104). The intermediate support members (107) are introduced to ensure said main arms (102) and the support arms (103) to operate in synchrony and enhance the strength of the lifting arm mechanism (100). The cylinders for counterweight (104) which delivers drive to these said main arms (102) and support arms (103) allow the counterweight (106) to move along the X axis (X) and the Y axis (Y).
