Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention concerns a lock for sliding fixtures.
  • Various locking systems are known for sliding fixtures consisting essentially of a locking mechanism associated with the edge of a mobile shutter which is adapted to engage a striker integral with a fixed part or with a second mobile shutter. From EP 1 900 893 A2 and WO 2011/083430 A1 locking systems in accordance with the preamble of claim 1 are known.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The aim of the present invention is to provide a new locking system with modular characteristics that allows the manufacture of aesthetically and functionally different products using a reduced number of components.
  • In the context of this aim, further objects of the invention are to obtain a lock for sliding fixtures which is: simple, easy to install, dependable over time, competitive in economic terms and able to offer the widest guarantees of reliability and safety in use.
  • These and further objects, which will be better highlighted below, are achieved by a lock for sliding fixtures, comprising an operative assembly provided with a hook on which two mobile appendixes are arranged; said hook defining at least two operating positions: A) an extended position, in which said hook can possibly engage a locking seat formed in a lock striker, and a retracted position B), in which said hook is substantially inside the operative assembly and does not engage the locking seat.
  • Said operative assembly is fitted in two half-shells which allow perfect operation and permit insertion in an outer casing consisting of a pair of plates.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Further characteristics of the subject of the present invention will become evident from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the present invention, illustrated for indicative non-limiting purposes in the attached drawings, in which:
    • figure 1 is a perspective view of the lock for sliding fixtures, applied to a sliding right-hand shutter;
    • figure 2 is a perspective view of the opposite side of the lock of the preceding figure, illustrated with the hook in the retracted position;
    • figure 3 is a perspective view of the operative assembly of the lock;
    • figure 4 is a perspective view of the lock in the version with cylinder;
    • figure 5 is a perspective view of the lock striker of the second shutter;
    • figure 6 is a perspective view of a lateral lock striker;
    • figure 7 is an exploded perspective view of the lock with knob;
    • figure 8 is an exploded perspective view of the lock with knob and cylinder;
    • figure 9 is an exploded perspective view of the lock striker of the second shutter.
    DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • With particular reference to the numerical symbols of the above-mentioned figures, the lock for sliding fixtures, according to the present invention, indicated overall by the reference number 1 or 101, comprises an operative assembly 2 provided with a hook 3 on which two mobile appendixes 4 are arranged.
  • The hook 3 defines at least two operating positions: an extended position A), shown in figures 1, 3, 4, in which it can possibly engage a locking seat 5 formed in a lock striker 6, 7, and a retracted position B), shown in figure 2, in which the hook 3 is substantially inside the operative assembly 2 and does not engage the locking seat 5.
  • In the retracted position of the hook 3, the appendixes 4 are substantially inserted in the body of the hook while in the extended position the appendixes 4 are arranged at a right angle relative to the driving axis of the hook 3 so as to engage two undercuts 8 formed in the seat 5 of the lock striker 6, 7.
  • The movement of the hook 3 and of its appendixes 4 is controlled by a mechanism arranged inside the body of the operative assembly consisting of two half-shells 9.
  • The internal mechanism comprises two rotating plates 10 each of which is provided with a semi-circular shaped groove 11 which engages a respective peg 12 formed on a respective translating plate; the two translating plates form the hook 3.
  • The appendixes 4 are hinged onto respective pins, formed in the translating plates; the rotary movement of the appendixes 4 is countered by a spring 13.
  • The internal mechanism further comprises a counteracting spring 14 to control the movement of the hook 3.
  • The operative assembly 2 is fitted in a suitable seat formed in a shutter 20 and is fixed by means of an outer casing consisting of a pair of plates 15 mounted on the operative assembly 2 with the interposition of two gaskets 16.
  • The rotary plates 10 are controlled by means of a control knob 17 and/or a cylinder 18.
  • Naturally the knob 17 is usually arranged on the inner side of the shutter while the cylinder 18 is provided on the outer side.
  • The lock for sliding fixtures subject of the present invention has great versatility, allowing various simple and safe uses.
  • The plates 15 form an outer casing which can be made of anodized aluminium, or other material, the aesthetics of which can be customized according to user requirements.
  • The different assembly of the internal elements, i.e. of the operative assembly 2, allows different opposite movements to be obtained.
  • The operative assembly allows a clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation of the key 19 of the cylinder 18 or of the knob 17 to bring the hook 3 into the extended position with relative release of the locking appendixes 4 outwards.
  • The locking appendixes 4 engage the respective lock striker 6, 7; in said position the lock blocks the shutter while the reverse procedure releases the shutter.
  • In the case of faulty operation, even if the hook 3 and the appendixes 4 are left in the extended position, in a possible impact against the striker they retract without causing any damage to the striker 6, 7 and to the lock elements.
  • The lock subject of the present invention can be produced with inner knob (figure 7), with inner knob and outer cylinder (figure 8), with a lock striker 6 of the second shutter or with a lateral lock striker 7.
  • It has been found that the present invention achieves the intended aim and objects, since the lock for sliding fixtures has superior characteristics in terms of aesthetics, low cost, safety and simplicity and can be used in particular on locks made of plate glass and/or other material.
  • The lock subject of the present invention is produced for fixtures with shutters made of plate glass and/or similar and offers the important advantage of being applicable by means of ordinary milling work.
  • Another important advantage consists in the fact that any impact, due to faulty operation with the hook in the external position, does not cause damage since the same can easily retract.
  • Further advantages and particular characteristics of the present invention are simplicity of use, safe operation, the variety of applications and modern aesthetics.
  • Naturally any materials and dimensions can be used, according to requirements.
