Description

    OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a handle for doors and windows and can be included in the technical sector of the manufacture of windows or doors and hardware thereof. More specifically, the object of the invention is a handle which comprises a series of relative improvements which allow the front coupling of a movable piece together with a lever assembly, which allows the use of said handle in a wide array of profiles and opening typologies, without penalising the operation or minimalist aesthetics of the handle.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The door and window market is currently characterised by having, in their closure systems, handles and espagnolettes which generally include a manual actuation handle for transmitting rotational movement to the internal mechanisms of the system, whether they are transmission boxes in the case of handles, transmission cases in the case of espagnolettes, etc.
  • The rotational movement transmitted by the handle is transformed into translational movement by mechanisms which can be both inside the profile in the form of a transmission box, and in the base of the handle in the form of an espagnolette, both with rack and pinion systems. Patents CH485099 , DE1815345 , DE3445170A1 , EP0446566 disclose said systems.
  • However, handles which do not have a base known today are limited to a given number of window profiles, since in the various European channel profiles in which said handles are housed, the distance between the centre of the channel in which the mechanism of the handle is housed and the wing of the profile defining the outer portion of the door or window leaf varies, such that said known handles sometimes cannot be assembled in an already existing profile.
  • Likewise, handles which have the base outside the profile present the drawback that the user comes in contact with the base of said handle when opening or closing said handle, making said operation uncomfortable, also making said base unsuitable if minimalist aesthetics are sought. Furthermore, said mechanisms are very complex, with high production times and material costs.
  • Utility Models with publication numbers ES1146109U and ES1148208U belonging to this same applicant are also known, which disclose a handle for doors and windows comprising a lever, a transmission mechanism arranged inside the profile of the door or window leaf, and a movable piece arranged between a wing of the profile of the leaf defining the outer portion of the door or window leaf and the transmission mechanism for adapting the handle to different widths of the profile of the door or window leaf, wherein said movable piece is laterally attachable to the profile together with the transmission mechanism.
  • This means that the use of the earlier handles is limited to interior opening European channel windows or door.
  • Furthermore, the type of square bar used in the earlier handles of 8 mm means that they require a transmission device that is especially adapted for converting the rotational movement of the handle into translational movement.
  • The object of this invention is to solve all the drawbacks considered above, allowing the new mechanism to be assembled in a wider range of profile and opening typologies, and allowing the use of elements for converting rotational movement into translational movement by means of standard mechanisms of other typologies such as multipoints or exterior opening transmission boxes, channel 16, etc.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a handle for doors and windows the base of which is arranged inside the profile of the door or window leaf, wherein said handle can be adapted to a wide range of profile and opening typologies, not being limited to European-type profiles.
  • The handle for doors and windows comprises a lever, a transmission mechanism arranged inside a profile of the door or window leaf and a movable piece arranged between a wing of the profile of the leaf defining the outer portion of the leaf of the door or window and the transmission mechanism which allows the adaptation of the handle to different thicknesses of the wing of the profile of the door or window leaf.
  • The movable piece is attachable to the profile of the leaf at the front portion thereof, preferably coupled to the lever, the assembly being quicker and simpler.
  • Furthermore, the handle of the present invention may thus be assembled in a wider range of profile and opening typologies, not being limited to European-type profiles.
  • Finally, with the movable piece thus configured, the transmission mechanism is independent of the handle, whereby the handle can be assembled in any standard transmission mechanism on the market.
  • The movable piece arranged between the door or window leaf and the transmission mechanism is movable in a direction defined by the actuating shaft of the lever, which allows changing the contour height existing between the centre of a channel of the profile of the door or window leaf in which the transmission mechanism of the handle is housed and the wing of said profile of the door or window leaf.
  • The handle comprises fixing means for fixing the lever to the movable piece which cooperate with elastic means to correct the existing gaps or wear produced in the direction defined by the actuating shaft of the lever.
  • The handle comprises regulating means carrying out the movement of the movable piece in the direction defined by the actuating shaft of the lever.
  • The handle comprises a square bar attachable to the lever at a coupling end, square bar which transmits the rotational movement of the lever to the transmission mechanism, which in turn comprises an undercut end at the end opposite the coupling end for coupling same to the lever, and which transforms the rotational movement of the lever into a translational movement of a slide for releasing or fixing the door or window leaf with respect to the door or window frame.
  • Therefore, the square undercut bar allows the use of any standard 7 mm square bar transmission mechanism, provided that it is allowed by the profile, such as the use of elements for converting rotational movement into translational movement by means of standard mechanism typologies such multipoints or exterior opening transmission boxes, channel 16, etc.
  • Preferably, the handle comprises a plastic cap defining the rotation positions of the lever.
  • Preferably, the movable piece comprises a retaining piece of the fixing means for fixing the lever to the movable piece.
  • Preferably, the handle comprises a base which allows fixing the lever in the profile of the door or window leaf.
  • Optionally, the movable piece is also attachable to the profile of the leaf at the side portion thereof.

  • The handle comprises a square bar (107) attachable to the lever at a coupling end, square bar (107) which transmits the rotational movement of the lever (101) to the transmission mechanism (108), which in turn comprises an undercut end (200) at the end opposite the coupling end for coupling same to the lever (1), square bar (107) which transforms the rotational movement of the lever (101) into a translational movement of a slide for releasing or fixing the door or window leaf with respect to the door or window frame.
  • The handle comprises a square bar attachable to the lever at a coupling end, square bar which transmits the rotational movement of the lever to the transmission mechanism, which in turn comprises an undercut end at the end opposite the coupling end for coupling same to the lever, and square bar which transforms the rotational movement of the lever into a translational movement of a slide for releasing or fixing the door or window leaf with respect to the door or window frame.
  • The handle comprises fixing means for fixing the lever (101) to the square bar (107), wherein said fixing means are preferably the outer surface of the square bar and an inner surface of the lever which come into contact and allow the press attachment of the lever (101) and the square bar (107).
  • The square bar (107) comprises a hole (187) in which the fixing means (153, 154) for fixing the lever (101) to the movable piece (106, 125) are housed, which in this preferred embodiment are a spring (153) attached to a pin (154), such that when the lever (101) together with the square bar (107) is inserted through the movable piece (106, 125) overcoming the resistance of the pressure spring of the elastic means (155), the pin (154) retains the lever (101) attached to the movable piece (106), fixing the set formed by the square bar (107), the plastic cap (104), the base (105) and the pressure spring of the elastic means (155) to the movable piece (106).
  • This is possible because the movable piece (106, 125) comprises a retaining piece (161) and a fixing strip (181) for fixing the retaining piece (161) to a hole (183) of the movable piece (106, 125), preferably by riveting. The retaining piece (161) comprises a semi-cylindrical radial undercut (179) in which the pin (154) of the fixing means (153, 154) of the lever (101) is housed. The retaining piece (161) comprises an axial undercut (180) opposing an axial projection (182) of the movable piece (106, 125) which determines the assembly position of the retaining piece (161) in the movable piece (106, 125). The axial projection (182) of the movable piece (106, 125) is breakable due to the actuation of the handle, such that the retaining piece (161) rotates freely with respect to the movable piece (106, 125).
  • The plastic cap (104) and the retaining piece (161) comprise respective essentially square holes (165, 177) for the coupling of the square bar (107), which is also coupled to the hole (191) of the pinion (190) of the transmission mechanism (108).
  • Therefore, once the lever (101) is assembled together with the square bar (107) and the plastic cap (104), the outward force exerted by the pressure spring (155) keeps the lever (101) in its position, corrects possible gaps, compensates for the wear of the plastic cap (104) and the thickness of the wing (140) of the profile (130) of the leaf, in addition to allowing changing the contour height (A) existing between the centre of a channel (120) of the profile (130) of the door or window leaf in which the transmission mechanism (108) is housed and a wing (140) of said profile (130) of the leaf defining the outer portion of the door or window leaf. Another essential function of the pressure spring (155) is to keep, as firmly as possible, the plastic cap (104) adhered to the base (105), making the hollows (164) of the plastic cap (104) line up with the opposing protrusions (167) arranged in the base (105).
  • The handle comprises a washer (157) arranged in the circumferential space existing between the base (105) and a first segment (176) of the cylindrical cavity (186) of the lever (101) which prevents gaps between the base (105) and the cylindrical cavity (186) and ensures correct rotation of the lever assembly (101), pressure spring (155), plastic cap (104) with respect to the base (105). Preferably, the washer (157) is made of a low-friction plastic material.
  • The plastic cap (104) comprises circumferential recesses (192) attachable with circumferential protrusions (193) of a second segment (194) of the cylindrical cavity (186) of the lever (101) for guiding said plastic cap (104), preventing gaps between the lever (101) and the plastic cap (104).
  • The preceding description applies for the two embodiments of the movable piece, movable piece which is referenced as 106 and 125 in the drawings.
  • Furthermore, according to the second embodiment, the channel (120) of the profile (130) of the door or window leaf in which the transmission mechanism (108) is housed comprises a slot (189) for inserting the transmission mechanism (108) and the movable piece (106) such that the movable piece (106) is also laterally attachable.
