Abstract

The present invention relates to a glass run channel (1), which prevents the noise produced by the air entering into the vehicle body through gaps, and comprises at least one seal (2), which is located at the region where two panels are joined in the vehicle body, and which, by surrounding one of the vehicle window glasses at the said region, prevents entrance of external factors between the glass and the panels, and at least one latch in the form of a fin which extends towards one of the panels over the seal (2) and exerts pressure thereon so as to stop the air entering through the region where the two panels are joined.

Description

GLASS RUN CHANNEL
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a glass run channel which fills in the gap remaining between the door tread plate and the side panel and prevents entrance of external factors such as wind and rain into the vehicle. Background of the Invention
The outer surfaces of the vehicles are typically made of sheet metal panels. These sheet metal panels constitute various areas of the vehicles such as the door, mudguard and hood. Gaps remain at the points where these panels are joined. These gaps are exposed to external factors and cause entrance of foreign matter into the vehicle due to factors such as wind, rain, etc.
Flexible seals are used in order to prevent entrance of external factors into the vehicle through the said gaps. The seals are not sufficient against the air flow resulting in these regions and thus noise occurs due to the turbulence that occurs. These noises disturb the driver and the passenger in the vehicle.
European patent document no. EP2578425, an application known in the art, discloses an invention for preventing the wind that enters into the vehicle through the gaps remaining in the door and produces noise. The seals that guide the incoming wind reduce the speed of the wind thereby eliminating the noise.
European patent document no. EP2862739, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a seal which prevents formation of a gap during movement of the window glass. There is provided a sealing protrusion at the connection of the door panel. Wind noise is reduced. Japanese patent document no. JP2003291653, an application in the state of the art, discloses a sealing structure with improved noise isolation. Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a glass channel run which prevents the air entering through the gaps at the points of junction of the panels in the vehicle body.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A glass run channel developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, wherein
Figure 1. is a general view of the door, mudguard and side panel from outside of the vehicle.
Figure 2. is a perspective view of the glass run channel from inside the vehicle. The components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:
1. Glass run channel
2. Seal
3. Horizontal latch
4. Vertical latch
P. Side panel
C. Mudguard
A glass run channel (1), which prevents the noise produced by the air entering into the vehicle body through gaps, comprises - at least one seal (2), which is located at the region where two panels are joined in the vehicle body, and which, by surrounding one of the vehicle window glasses at the said region, prevents entrance of external factors between the glass and the panels,
- at least one latch in the form of a fin which extends towards one of the panels over the seal (2) and exerts pressure thereon so as to stop the air entering through the region where the two panels are joined.
The glass run channel (1) is produced from a flexible material such as rubber.
The latches provided on the glass run channel (1) can be in various positions depending on the direction of the air flow. The latches can cut the air flow completely by being positioned perpendicular to the flow direction. The latches can guide and/or change the speed of the air flow by being positioned parallel or at a desired angle to the flow direction. In the case that there are more than one air entrance region, the number and positions of the latches may vary. This way the noise of the air flow entering through the panels is prevented.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is at least one horizontal latch (3) and at least one vertical latch (4) which latches are positioned perpendicular to each other. This way, speed of the air entering from any direction can be reduced thereby preventing noise.

Claims

A glass run channel (1), which prevents the noise produced by the air entering into the vehicle body through gaps, comprising
- at least one seal (2), which is located at the region where two panels are joined in the vehicle body, and which, by surrounding one of the vehicle window glasses at the said region, prevents entrance of external factors between the glass and the panels,
- at least one latch in the form of a fin which extends towards one of the panels over the seal (2) and exerts pressure thereon so as to stop the air entering through the region where the two panels are joined.
2. A glass run channel (1) according to Claim 1 comprising at least one horizontal latch (3) and at least one vertical latch (4) which are positioned perpendicular to each other.
