Abstract
An item of seating furniture comprising a stable main frame (1), moveable seat (2) and at least three moveable and adjustable supports: upper (3), middle (4) and bottom (5) characterised in that the supports are mounted on the flexible bar (6) which is attached to the height adjustment system of the middle backrest (4) or the main frame in the area of the middle backrest (4).
Description
- The invention relates to an armchair intended for rest, office work or rehabilitation.
- The Polish patent specification PAT.
227553 - The purpose of the invention is to create conditions for correction of the posture in the seating position by correcting the forward leaning position to the straight position and ensuring spine movement.
- The armchair structure according to the invention allows achieving both those targets, i.e. to keep the back straight in the seating position and keep the spine moving.
- The armchair according to the invention comprises a stable main frame, moveable seat and at least three moveable and adjustable supports: upper, middle and bottom.
- The armchair is characterised by upper and bottom support mounted on a flexible bar which is mounted to the height adjustment system of the middle backrest (the chest section support) or to the main frame in the area of the middle support.
- The flexible bar may consist of two parts: an upper part and a bottom part.
- Preferably the upper support (the head support) is a movable cylinder which rotates around its horizontal axis placed in a plane perpendicular to the flexible bar. The upper support may be in a shape of a flat support capable of moving up and down in relation to the flexible bar and rotating up to 30 degrees in relation to the bar.
- Preferably the shape of a cylinder is taken also by the bottom support (the lumbar support) and this cylinder can rotate around its axis. Alternatively the lumbar support can, just as the head support, take the shape of a flat moveable support.
- The width of the flexible bar shall not be greater than 15 cm.
- The armchair can be equipped with a footrest consisting of a flexible bar placed in relation to the base at an angle of at least 15 degrees, optimally 45°-75°, or two matching flexible bars.
- The footrest can also consist of four flexible bars placed in pairs, with inner bars placed opposite to the outer bars.
- The footrest may be mounted to the basis with the use of a telescopic or rail system and may be equipped with a movable cylinder or wheels for free movement under the armchair when not in use.
- The present invention is shown in the example of execution in
fig. 1 which presents a schematic drawing of an item of seating furniture as a perspective view with a footrest which consists of two parallel flexible bars, whereasfig. 2 shows a footrest which consists of four flexible bars placed in pairs opposite to each other. - The piece of seating furniture has a stable
main frame 1, the bottom part of which is the armchair support and the upper part is the place for mounting theflexible bar 6 of the backrest. On the upper edge of the bottom part offrame 1 theseat 2 is mounted. Theseat 2 is connected to the basis with the use of a ball joint; therefore, theseat 2 can move in all directions, which ensures the movement of the pelvis of the armchair user. - To the upper part of the
frame 1 the verticalflexible bar 6 is attached. Thebar 6 is attached to the upper part of the frame at the height or in the area where themiddle support 4 is attached to the bar. Whereas both the upper and bottom part of thebar 6 are not connected to the frame. - Both the
upper support 3 and thebottom support 5 have the shape of the cylinder which rotates around its own longitudinal axis. The upper 3 andbottom 5 supports can also take a shape of a flat support capable of moving up and down in relation to theflexible bar 6 and rotating up to 30 degrees in relation to thebar 6. The range of movement of theupper support 3 in the up and down direction should be not greater than 5 cm. In this case it is about the head movement in relation to the spine, the so called count curtsey - bowing the head and at the same time moving it back. This movement causes a significant reduction in the cervical spine bending forward. - The moveable bottom support 5 (lumbar support) stimulates the perception accompanying changes in pelvis position and ensures movement of the lumbar spine.
- Also the middle support 4 (support for the chest section) is capable of multidimensional movement which may be ensured for example by attachment of the
support 4 to the frame with the use of the ball joint. - In addition the
bar 6, on which thesupports flexible bar 6 is up to 15 cm which enables rotation of the spine around the long axis of thebar 6. - Due to different sensitivity to the strength of the force applied by the head and loins the
flexible bar 6 may consist of two parts: upper and bottom, with different flexible characteristics and attached in the chest section by applying pressure (small operating forces); therefore, it is possible to adjust the height of theheadrest 3 andlumbar rest 5. - The option of individual selection of the impact of the
flexible bar 6 for individual persons enables the placing of one bar on the other as in leaf springs. - For better operation the armchair is equipped with the
footrest 7 which consists of two flexible bars placed in relation to the basis at an angle of at least 15 degrees, optimally 45°-75°. - The footrest can consist of one common flexible bar or of four flexible bars placed in pairs, with inner bars placed opposite to the outer bars.
- The
footrest 7 is mounted in such a manner as to make it possible to pull it out freely to the use position or to place it under the frame when not in use Thefootrest 7 can be placed, for example, on the rail or have a telescopic connection and can be equipped with wheels, alternatively a travel roller for free movement of thefootrest 7 under the armchair when not in use.
