Abstract

The present invention relates to a chimney mounting assembly (1) for use with an extractor hood (2) comprising: a fume extracting unit (3) for extracting the fume from the cooking place; a duct (4) for conducting the extracted fume to the outside, wherein the duct (4) comprises: an inlet (5) which is adapted for connection with the fume extracting unit (3); and an outlet (6), the chimney mounting assembly (1) comprising: a duct connector (7) which comprises two or more fluidly connected openings (8) and which is adapted to be connected through one of its openings (8) to the outlet (6) of the duct (4); and one or more mounting brackets (9) for mounting the duct connector (7) to the wall (10).

Description

    IMPROVED CHIMNEY MOUNTING ASSEMBLY FOR USE WITH AN EXTRACTOR HOOD
  • The present invention relates to an extractor hood, in particular to a chimney mounting assembly for use with the extractor hood.
  • Extractor hoods are commonly known in the art. An extractor hood generally comprises a fume extracting unit for extracting the fume from the cooking place; a duct for conducting the extracted fume to the outside, wherein the duct comprises: an inlet which is adapted for the connection with the fume extracting unit; and an outlet which leads to the outside.
  • DE102009028809 (A1) discloses an extractor hood.
  • In general, the outlet of the duct is inserted into a hole in the wall, and leads to the outside. A problem with the prior art extractor hood is that the duct cannot be easily mounted in alignment with the ceiling and the wall.
  • An objective of the present invention is to provide a chimney mounting assembly which solves the aforementioned problems of the prior art in a cost-effective way and which enables an improved assemblage of the duct.
  • This objective has been achieved by the chimney mounting assembly as defined in claim 1, and the extractor hood as defined in claim 14. Further achievements have been attained by the subject-matters respectively defined in the dependent claims.
  • The chimney mounting assembly of the present invention comprises: a duct connector which comprises two or more fluidly connected openings, and which is adapted to be connected through one of its openings to the outlet of the duct; and one or more mounting brackets for mounting the duct connector to the wall.
  • A major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the duct can be easily mounted in alignment with the ceiling and the wall through the service person by virtue of the chimney mounting assembly.
  • Additional features and additional advantageous effects of the chimney mounting assembly and the extractor hood according to the present invention will become more apparent with the detailed description of the embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

  • The chimney mounting assembly (1) is suitable for use with the extractor hood (2) (Fig. 1).
  • The extractor hood (2) comprises: a fume extracting unit (3) for extracting the fume from the cooking place; and a duct (4) for conducting the extracted fume to the outside. The duct (4) comprises: an inlet (5) which is adapted for the connection with the fume extracting unit (3); and an outlet (6) (Fig. 2).
  • The chimney mounting assembly (1) of the present invention comprises: a duct connector (7) which comprises two or more fluidly connected openings (8), and which is adapted to be connected through one of its openings (8) to the outlet (6) of the duct (4); and one or more mounting brackets (9) for mounting the duct connector (7) to the wall (10) (Fig. 1).
  • The extractor hood (2) of the present invention comprises the chimney mounting assembly (1) (Fig. 1).
  • In an embodiment, the duct connector (7) is manufactured from plastic material.
  • In another embodiment, the mounting bracket (9) is made from sheet metal.
  • In another embodiment, the duct connector (7) comprises one or more flanges (11) which are formed around one or more openings (8) respectively. In this embodiment, the mounting bracket (9) comprises a slot (12) for retaining the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7) without screws (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).
  • In another embodiment, the mounting bracket (9) comprises an upper arm (13) and a lower arm (14). In this embodiment, the slot (12) is formed between the upper arm (13) and the lower arm (14) (Fig. 3).
  • In another embodiment, the upper arm (13) and the lower arm (14) extend, in the mounted state, perpendicularly away from the wall (10) (Fig. 1).
  • In another embodiment, the slot (12) is further adapted to force-fittingly retain the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7).
  • In another embodiment, the slot (12) of the mounting bracket (9) has a rectangular shape. In this embodiment, the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7) has a matching rectangular shape (Fig. 4).
  • In another embodiment, the mounting bracket (9) further comprises: one or more bendable tabs (15) for securing, in the bent state, the duct connector (7) in place (Fig. 2 and Fig. 4). In this embodiment, the bendable tabs (15) are made from sheet metal, and can be manually bend by the service person.
  • In another embodiment, the bendable tab (15) comprises a perforated section (16) which defines an area for bending the bendable tab (15) relative to the mounting bracket (9) and onto the respective flange (11) (Fig. 2 and Fig.3).
  • In another embodiment, the bendable tabs (15) are formed onto the front end of the upper arm (13) and the front end of the lower arm (14) respectively (Fig. 3).
  • In another embodiment, the chimney mounting assembly (1) further comprises: a wall bracket (17) for supporting the mounting bracket (9); a mounting means (18) for mounting the wall bracket (9) to the wall (10); and an adjustment means (19) for adjusting the horizontal position of the mounting bracket (9) relative to the wall bracket (17) (Fig. 4).
  • In another embodiment, the wall bracket (17) is made from sheet metal.
  • In another embodiment, the mounting means (18) comprises a screw connection (20) which comprises at least one screw (21) (Fig. 4).
  • In another embodiment, the adjustment means (19) comprises a guide (22) which is adapted to horizontally slidably receive the screw (21) (Fig. 4).
  • In another embodiment, the extractor hood (2) further comprises: a cover (not shown) which is u-shaped and adapted to cover the duct (4) and at least part of the fume extracting unit (3). In this embodiment, the chimney mounting assembly (1) further comprises: a fixing means (23) for fixing the cover to the opposite ends of the wall bracket (17) (Fig. 4).
  • In another embodiment, the duct connector (7) comprises a first half part (7a) and a second half part (7b) which are detachably attachable to each other through one or more first snap-fit connections (7c). In this embodiment, the flanges (11) are detachably attachable onto the openings (8) in the duct connector (7) through one or more second snap-fit connections (11a). In this embodiment, the duct connector (7) includes three openings (8) arranged in a T-like configuration. In this embodiment, the outlet (6) of the duct (4) can be fitted into the round opening (8) of the duct connector (7) (Fig. 2).
  • A major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the duct (4) can be easily mounted in alignment with the ceiling (not shown) and the wall (10) through the service person by virtue of the chimney mounting assembly (1). Other advantageous effects of the present invention can be taken from the above-described embodiments.

Claims (14)

  1. A chimney mounting assembly (1) for use with an extractor hood (2) comprising: a fume extracting unit (3) for extracting the fume from the cooking place; a duct (4) for conducting the extracted fume to the outside, wherein the duct (4) comprises: an inlet (5) which is adapted for connection with the fume extracting unit (3); and an outlet (6), the chimney mounting assembly (1) being characterized by comprising: a duct connector (7) which comprises two or more fluidly connected openings (8) and which is adapted to be connected through one of its openings (8) to the outlet (6) of the duct (4); and one or more mounting brackets (9) for mounting the duct connector (7) to the wall (10).
  2. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the duct connector (7) comprises one or more flanges (11) which are formed around one or more openings (8) respectively; and the mounting bracket (9) comprises a slot (12) for retaining the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7) without screws.
  3. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the mounting bracket (9) comprise an upper arm (13) and a lower arm (14), wherein the slot (12) is formed between the upper arm (13) and the lower arm (14).
  4. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 3, characterized in that the upper arm (13) and the lower arm (14) extend, in the mounted state, perpendicularly away from the wall (10).
  5. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to any one of claims 2 to 4, characterized in that the slot (12) is further adapted to force-fittingly retain the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7).
  6. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to any one of claims 2 to 5, characterized in that the slot (12) of the mounting bracket (9) has a rectangular shape, and the respective flange (11) of the duct connector (7) has a matching rectangular shape.
  7. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the mounting bracket (9) further comprises: one or more bendable tabs (15) for securing, in the bent state, the duct connector (7) in place.
  8. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 7, characterized in that the bendable tab (15) comprises a perforated section (16) which defines an area for bending the bendable tab (15) relative to the mounting bracket (9) and onto the respective flange (11).
  9. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 7 or 8, where dependent on claim 3, characterized in that the bendable tabs (15) are formed onto the front end of the upper arm (13) and the front end of the lower arm (14) respectively.
  10. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterized by further comprising: a wall bracket (17) for supporting the mounting bracket (9); a mounting means (18) for mounting the wall bracket (9) to the wall (10); and an adjustment means (19) for adjusting the horizontal position of the mounting bracket (9) relative to the wall bracket (17).
  11. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 10, characterized in that the mounting means (18) comprises a screw connection (20) which comprises at least one screw (21).
  12. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to claim 11, characterized in that the adjustment means (19) comprises a guide (22) which is adapted to horizontally slidably receive the screw (21).
  13. The chimney mounting assembly (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 12, where dependent on claim 10, wherein the extractor hood (2) further comprises: a cover which is u-shaped and adapted to cover the duct (4) and at least part of the fume extracting unit (3), the chimney mounting assembly (1) being characterized by further comprising: a fixing means (23) for fixing the cover to the opposite ends of the wall bracket (17).
  14. An extractor hood (2) comprising: a fume extracting unit (3) for extracting the fume from the cooking place; a duct (4) for conducting the extracted fume to the outside, wherein the duct (4) comprises: an inlet (5) which is adapted for connection with the fume extracting unit (3); and an outlet (6), characterized by further comprising: the chimney mounting assembly (1) as defined in any one of claims 1 to 13.
