Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an articulated arm for arm awnings and an awning comprising said arm.
  • the present invention preferably but not exclusively finds application within the field of sun awnings, usually for outdoor spaces, which comprise two or more jointed or articulated arms, wherein said arms serve the function of allowing the opening of the awning, allowing its inclination and also of supporting the awning.
  • the patent EP1650373 illustrates an articulated arm for sun awnings that comprises an arm and a forearm jointed together by means of an articulated joint.
  • the arm has an end fastened by means of an articulated joint to a fixed support and an opposite end fastened by means of an articulated joint to an end of the forearm.
  • the other end of the forearm is connected to a bar.
  • the awning extends between the fixed support and the bar.
  • Articulated arms comprising lighting systems are also known.
  • Such lighting systems usually consist of lights, for example arrays of LEDs, which are mounted outside the arm and the forearm with the related power supply cables that run, visible, along the forearm and the arm to the fixed support to be able to connect them to an electrical power supply.
  • articulated arms in which the power supply cables are made to run partially inside the arm and the forearm but that at the articulated joint between arm and forearm remain visible forming a bend that hangs down when the arm is extended because it has to be able to allow the arm to bend freely.
  • Document EP2902565 is also known disclosing an articulated arm comprising an articulated joint with a housing to allow passage of a cable.
  • the Applicant has found that the objectives indicated above and others besides can be achieved housing, when possible, the cables and the electric users inside the arm or otherwise protected by appropriate cover elements.
