Description

  • The present patent of invention pertains to a packaging for storing automotive parts, in particular brake pads or any other parts having similar formats for automotive vehicles, said packaging being made of thermoplastic material, the main objective of which is to provide a sealing system suitable for preventing the entry of humidity and liquids into the packaging. Additionally, said packaging comprises its own specific characteristics, which besides providing effective sealing, presents a structure with better mechanical resistance for housing the parts, and also for promoting safe and practical stacking. Further, advantageously, the constructive shape of the packaging now innovated, allows the lid to be opened and closed several times without compromising its integrity.
  • Background of the Invention
  • A person skilled in the art has knowledge of packaging used to store automotive parts, chiefly to protect it against external agents or contact with other objects, and to facilitate the transport and handling thereof, since these automotive components are made of high density materials, resulting in heavy parts which exert a major force against the walls of their packaging, which should offer sufficient mechanical resistance for the safe transport and stacking thereof.
  • A known form of packing these automotive parts is the use of cardboard packaging, where the parts are packed in loose form. Viewing greater protection, in some cases the parts are previously enveloped with shrinkable material, plastic films, foam, among others, before being packed in the cardboard packaging.
  • Disadvantageously, the need to envelop the parts with materials for additional protection during the wrapping process, requires an additional stage in the manufacturing process, which can be eliminated, as it increases the manufacturing cost.
  • Notwithstanding the alternative of enveloping the parts for greater protection, before packing them in the cardboard packaging, today, it is most common simply to store the parts in the said cardboard packaging in loose form without any additional protection.
  • In addition to the parts being loose inside this cardboard packaging, where they are subject to damage by impact, said packaging is made of a hydrophilic material, exposing the parts to humidity, since when cardboard absorbs humidity, this humidity is consequently transferred to the part, causing damage.
  • Additionally, said packaging offers no structural resistance to stacking, generating logistical and storage difficulties in the inventory of wrapped parts, and said parts may be damaged when stacked or during transport.
  • Another disadvantage of cardboard packaging is that once opened for possible checks of the information on the parts contained inside, the packaging remains open, resulting from breaking the adhesive seal normally used to guarantee the integrity of the parts. This procedure is common before assembly, but in many cases when the parts are exposed in stock, they are subject to humidity and/or falls, which may comprise the useful life thereof and render them useless.
  • Additionally, due to the different environmental conditions this packaging undergoes during transport, open spending months inside containers on ships crossing oceans, this packaging needs more effective sealing capable of preventing the entry of humidity, or even liquids. Therefore, disadvantageously, this humidity can end up damaging the parts stored in this packaging.
  • Among the problems, it is possible to cite the oxidation factor, which in many cases may reach a level of premature rooting, that is, before assembly and use, the parts may be oxidized due to the entry of humidity inside the packaging, which reduces their useful life, any may require repair soon after using the vehicles due to functional problems. The factor may worsen, depending on the environmental conditions and transport time, when exported by sea routes, which due to the high rate of salt-water mist causes corrosion of various metal objects.
  • With a view to solving these drawbacks, the present invention proposes a packaging for storing automotive parts made of thermoplastic material, which comprises a receptacle closed by a lid, and said packaging comprises a closing and sealing system capable of promoting effective sealing, preventing humidity from penetrating the packaging and damaging the stored part(s). Further the invention proposes a packaging with its own specific characteristics, which besides providing effective sealing, presents a structural body having better mechanical resistance for housing the parts, and also for promoting safe and practical stacking.
  • Therefore, it is an objective of the present invention to provide the closing, sealing and locking between the body and the lid, capable of guaranteeing the integrity of the automotive parts stored, by sealing the entire perimeter.
  • It is a further objective of the present invention to provide a packaging with intuitive opening and closing means, in an easy, practical and safe manner, however many times necessary, without comprising its integrity.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide a packaging with a suitable arrangement such that when stacking the packgings, an upper packaging may be encased into a lower packaging so as to guarantee greater stability for the pile, besides sustaining the mechanical efforts involved.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide packaging having different sizes so as to enable the packing of parts having varied sizes and shapes.
  • It is yet a further objective of the present invention to provide a packaging endowed with at least an encasement and/or part separation means inside the packaging so as to enable organized, safe and stable packing.
  • Summarized description of the invention
  • In short, the present invention pertains to a packaging that comprises a closing and sealing means arranged by the cooperating encasement of a perimeter edge, disposed on a wall of a receptacle and encasable in a perimeter channel disposed in the internal region of the lid and endowed with closing and sealing segments which project downwardly so as to receive the perimeter edge when the lid is closed.
  • The lid comprises at least an articulated flap by means of a folding line, and said articulated flap projects downwardly and comprises an internal region endowed with at least a locking protrusion of the lid on the receptacle, which also comprises at least a protrusion disposed on the wall which when encased cooperatingly with the protrusion promotes locking by mechanical interference.
  • The packaging comprises a stacking means arranged by the cooperating encasement of a lower ridge of the receptacle supported on a perimeter edge of the lid and positioned between the perimeter ridge and at least a ridge segment disposed on the support edge. Accordingly, this cooperating encasement system enables safe stacking and fitting, guaranteeing greater stability of two or more packagings.
  • Optionally, the receptacle may comprise at least a means of separating the parts, such as a support, which may be placed inside the receptacle and preferably encased by means of grooves.
  • Further optionally, the receptacle may comprise at least an encasement means for packing and/or separating the parts, and the encasement means may be arranged by projections and/or grooves.
  • Presented below are schematical drawings of a particular realization of the invention, the dimensions and proportions of which are not necessarily real, as the purpose of the drawings is merely a didactical presentation of their diverse aspects, whose scope of protection is determined only by the scope of the accompanying claims.
