A membrane element (60) for an air humidification device having a frame and frame webs (61-64) having front and rear sides, the frame having inside a web (67) connecting inner sidewalls of the frame, which web extends over a first section (Fig. 68) has substantially the same thickness (D) as the frame webs and has a smaller thickness (D1) than the frame webs over a second portion (69) of its length.
