Description

The present invention relates to a system comprising a footrest chassis and a seating furniture chassis.

Systems according to the preamble of claim 1 are known from the prior art from public prior use. Footrest chassis are attached to seating furniture chassis to increase comfort for a user. In this description, a chassis is understood to mean, in particular, a device to which upholstery can be attached in order to produce seating furniture such as an armchair, and which enables the seating furniture to function mechanically, such as folding it in and out.

The actual footrest, on which the user can place his feet, is attached to the footrest chassis. Usually, the footrest chassis can be folded out and in, so that the user can choose whether or not he would like to place his feet on the footrest. In the folded-in state, the footrest is arranged below the seat of the chair so that it does not disturb the user. In the unfolded state, the user can place his feet and, depending on the model, at least some of his legs on the footrest chassis.

During the folding and unfolding process, the known footrest chassis require a relatively large amount of space below the seat of the chair. If the footrest is extended during the unfolding process in order to increase a distance between the seat surface and the end of the footrest facing away from the seat surface, the lower end of the footrest also presses against the calves of the user, which is usually uncomfortable for the user.

Gegenüber den bekannten Fußstützenchassis liegt der vorliegenden Erfindung die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein System zu schaffen, das während des Ein- und Ausklappvorgangs des Fußstützenchassis wenig Platz unter der Sitzfläche des Sitzmöbels benötigt und das den Komfort für den Benutzer erhöht.the EP 2 084 992 A2 discloses a seating furniture with a substantially horizontally extending main segment, on the upper side of which a seat surface is provided, and a leg segment, on the upper side of which a support surface is provided. The leg segment is relatively movable with respect to the main segment between a stowed position and a functional position. Compared to the known footrest chassis, the present invention is based on the object of creating a system which requires little space under the seat of the chair during the folding and unfolding process of the footrest chassis and which increases the comfort for the user.

This object is achieved by a system according to claim 1. Embodiments of the invention are given in the dependent claims.

The footrest chassis comprises a first area, a second area, at least one fastening means for fastening the first area to the seating furniture chassis and a connecting means. In the state attached to the seating furniture chassis, the first and the second area can be pivoted about a first pivot axis defined by the fastening means. The second area is connected to the first area via the connecting means.

When the first area and the second area pivot about the first pivot axis, there is an additional pivot movement of the second area about a second pivot axis defined by the connecting means. The second pivoting movement can be triggered automatically.

The pivoting movement of the second area about the second pivot axis enables the footrest chassis to be folded in and out in a space-saving manner. The second area is thus pivoted both about the first pivot axis and about the second pivot axis during the folding and unfolding process, so that it performs a movement combined from these two pivoting movements. In other words, the first and the second pivoting movement of the second area overlap. In contrast, the first area is only pivoted about the first pivot axis and not about the second pivot axis.

In addition, the pivoting movement of the second area about the second pivot axis can have the advantage that the second area swings out more quickly and can thus come into contact with the user's calves before the lower end of the footrest hits the calves when the footrest chassis is being unfolded is extended.

The footrest chassis has a support surface which is designed to rest on a bearing means of the seating furniture chassis. The pivoting movement of the first area and the second area about the first pivot axis can be triggered by a deflection of the bearing surface by the bearing means. Such a coupling of the footrest chassis with the seating furniture chassis is advantageous in order to reduce the risk of damage to objects, animals or people who are in the folding path of the footrest chassis when the footrest chassis is being folded in. Since the footrest chassis rests with the supporting surface on the bearing means, a comparatively small force acts on the object, animal or person, so that the risk of damage is reduced.

The footrest chassis can nevertheless be fastened to the seating furniture chassis with the second fastening element without increasing the risk of damage. Since the pivoting movement of the first area about the first pivot axis is triggered by the deflection of the support surface, no such deflection takes place when an object, an animal or a person is in the folding path of the footrest chassis. Thus, there is also no movement of the second fastening element relative to the third connecting means. Consequently, there is neither a pivoting movement about the first, nor a pivoting movement about the second, nor a pivoting movement about the third axis.

It is possible that a first part of a footrest can be attached to the first area. A second part of the footrest can be fastened to the second area. This two-part structure enables the previously described pivoting behavior of the first and second areas. It is also possible that the footrest chassis is designed in two parts. In this case, the footrest chassis can comprise two first areas, two second areas, two fastening means and two connecting means, wherein in each case a first area, a second area, a fastening means and a connecting means can be arranged on one of the two parts of the footrest chassis and wherein the mechanism both parts of the footrest chassis is the same or similar. In this way, a particularly light footrest chassis can be achieved.

According to the invention, the connecting means comprises a first connecting element and a second connecting element. The first connecting element can define the second pivot axis. The second connecting element can be designed to facilitate the pivoting movement about the second Trigger swivel axis. The first connecting element can, for example, be a bolt around which a component of the second area can be rotated.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the second connecting element can be designed like a lever. This lever-like second connecting element can, for example, be rotatably connected to the component of the second region, which is rotatable about the first connecting element. The pivoting movement of the second area about the second pivot axis can thus be triggered by the second connecting element.

According to the invention, the fastening means comprises a first fastening element and a second fastening element. The first fastening element can define the first pivot axis. The second fastening element can be designed to trigger the pivoting movement of the second area about the second pivot axis.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the second fastening element can be designed like a lever.

According to the invention, the connecting means comprises a third connecting element which can connect the second connecting element to the second fastening element.

According to one embodiment of the invention, a pivoting movement of the third connecting element about a third pivot axis can be triggered by the second fastening element during the pivoting movement of the first region about the first pivot axis. The third connecting element can, for example be supported by a bolt which defines the third pivot axis. By moving the second fastening means relative to the third connection means, the third connection means is pivoted about the third pivot axis, whereby the second connection element is moved. This leads to the pivoting movement of the second area about the second pivot axis. The releasing relative movement of the second fastening means can be caused by the pivoting movement of the first area about the first pivot axis.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the second fastening element can be rotatably connected to the third connecting element.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the third connecting element can be rotatably connected to the second connecting element.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the footrest chassis can comprise a spring means which is designed to exert a spring force on the support surface, so that the support surface is pressed against the bearing means. In this way it is achieved that the support surface presses against the bearing means with a certain force which is sufficient so that the folding and unfolding process of the footrest chassis can take place. If there is a person, an animal or an object in the folding path of the footrest chassis, only the spring force acts on the person, the animal or the object. The spring force can be selected to be so low that the risk of damage is low.

A process of unfolding the footrest chassis 100 can be followed by looking at the figures in the order 1 to 6. A folding process takes place in exactly the opposite way, so that it can be understood by looking at the figures in the order 6 to 1.

The footrest chassis 100 is fastened to a seating furniture chassis 103 and comprises two parts connected to one another only by the seating furniture chassis 103. The two parts are arranged parallel to each other and have the same structure, so that both parts are folded in and out in the same way. A footrest can be attached to both parts and thus connect the two parts together.

The footrest chassis 100 comprises a first area 101 and a second area 102. A first part of a two-part footrest can be attached to the first area 101. A second part of the footrest can be attached to the second area 102. The footrest chassis 100 is thus designed for a two-part footrest.

The first area 101 is fastened to the seating furniture chassis 103 with a first fastening element 104. The first fastening element 104 is designed like a bolt and defines a first pivot axis about which both the first area 101 and the second area 102 are pivoted during the unfolding process. In addition, the first area 101 has a support surface 200 which is in contact with a bearing means 201 of the seating furniture chassis 103.

The pivoting movement of the first area 101 about the first pivot axis is triggered by the movement of the bearing means 201.

The support surface 200 is pressed by a spring means against the bearing means 201, so that only the spring force acts on an object, an animal or a person when the object, the animal or the person is in the folding path of the footrest chassis 100.

In addition, the footrest chassis 100 has a second fastening element 105 which is fastened to the seating furniture chassis 103. The second fastening element 105 is designed like a lever.

The second area is connected to the first area 101 via a first connection means 106 and a second connection means 107. The first connecting means 106 is designed in the manner of a bolt and defines a second pivot axis about which the second region 102 is pivoted. The second connecting means 107 is designed like a lever. In addition, the footrest chassis 100 comprises a third connecting means 108, which is each rotatably connected to the second fastening means 105 and to the second connecting means 107. The second connecting means 106 is also rotatably connected to the second region 102.

When the footrest chassis 100 is unfolded, the bearing means 201 is pushed forward so that the support surface 200 and the first area 101 are pivoted upward about the first pivot axis. This pivoting movement takes place counterclockwise and causes a relative movement between the second fastening element 105 and the third connection element 108, from which a pivoting movement of the third connection element 108 results. The pivoting direction of the third connecting element 108 is opposite to the pivoting direction of the first area.

The pivoting movement of the third connecting means 108 causes a relative movement between the second connecting means 107 and the first connecting means 106, so that the second region 102 is pivoted about the second area defined by the first connecting means 106. This pivoting movement takes place in the same pivoting direction as the pivoting movement of the first region 101 about the first pivot axis.

The second area 102 is therefore moved by two superimposed pivot movements about the first pivot axis and about the second pivot axis.

The mechanics described above achieve two advantages in particular. On the one hand, the footrest chassis 100 requires comparatively little space below the seat surface of the chair for the pivoting process. On the other hand, the footrest chassis 100 can be used particularly well in seating furniture chassis 103 in which the footrest chassis is extended or retracted during the folding and unfolding process. This advantage becomes particularly evident when looking at the Figures 2 to 4 . The second area 102 is unfolded in such a way that the feet of a user come into contact with the footrest before the footrest touches the legs of the user from behind. This is particularly convenient for users, since uncomfortable point contact between the calves and the footrest is avoided.
