Description

A DISHWASHER COMPRISING A CUTLERY BASKET
  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a cutlery basket.
  • In dishwashers, cutlery baskets are used for washing cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, etc. by holding them together. The cutlery baskets are usually disposed in the upper or lower racks wherein large volume tableware such as pots and plates is placed. Since the racks that are placed on a narrow base in portable dishwashers with a smaller width are narrow in terms of width, the cutlery baskets are needed to be disposed in the body of the dishwasher so that the space in the body can be used more efficiently. Moreover, because of the small usable space in the portable dishwashers, the cutlery such as fork, spoon, knife, etc. cannot be placed in the cutlery basket in a practical way.
  • In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2011154386, a cutlery basket is described which provides variable storage space by means of the storing units that move with respect to each other.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a small sized portable dishwasher that provides ease of use wherein efficient use of its space in the body is provided.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention explicated in the claims, comprises a body; more than one side wall forming the body; a washing tub that is disposed in the body and that is suitable for placing dishes to be washed therein; and an opening that provides access to the washing tub. The dishwasher furthermore comprises at least one pin disposed on at least one side wall, and a cutlery basket wherein the cutlery such as fork, spoon, etc. is placed and that is mounted so as to rotate around the axis that the pin is connected on the side wall.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises at least one housing disposed on the cutlery basket and the pin is in a circular form in this embodiment. By means of the telescopic circular structure of the housing and the pin that are preferably produced from plastic material, the cutlery basket is gradually rotated with the help of friction between the housing and the pin. Thus the user practically places the cutlery basket in the desired position.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the pin is in a square form with rounded edges. In this embodiment, by means of the rotation of the cutlery basket, the tetragonal housing is gradually rotated around the pin that is in a square form with rounded edges and thus the cutlery basket can be placed in four different positions that approximately have a 90° angle between each other.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cutlery basket comprises a loading position wherein the cutlery basket is almost parallel to the base of the washing tub and a washing position whereto the cutlery basket is brought by being rotated and wherein the cutlery basket is almost vertical to the base of the washing tub.
  • The model embodiments relating to the basket and the dishwasher, realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, are illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 – is the detailed view of the dishwasher related to the cutlery basket when hung on the side wall.
  • Figure 2 – is the view of the A-A section in Figure 1 while the cutlery basket is in the washing position.
  • Figure 3 – is the view of the A-A section in Figure 1 while the cutlery basket is in the loading position.
  • Figure 4 – is the schematic view of a cutlery basket that is mounted to the dishwasher by means of the spring related to an embodiment of the present invention.

  • The dishwasher (1) comprises a body; more than one side wall (3) enclosing the body (2); a washing tub (4) that is disposed in the body (2) and that is suitable for placing dishes to be washed therein, and an opening (13) that provides access to the washing tub (4).
  • The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises at least one pin (5) disposed on at least one side wall (3); and a cutlery basket (6) wherein the cutlery such as fork, spoon, etc. is placed by means of a loading port (11) and that is mounted on the side wall (3) so as to rotate around the axis (E) of the pin (5). In the small-sized dishwasher (1) that is portable and suitable for countertop use, ease of use is provided by mounting the cutlery basket (6) on the side wall (3) so as to move by being rotated.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises at least one housing (7) disposed on the cutlery basket (6) and the pin (5) is in a circular form in this embodiment. By means of the frictional movement of two circular forms created by the telescopic placement of the housing (7) and the pin (5) that are preferably produced from plastic material, the cutlery basket (6) is gradually rotated. In this embodiment, the inner diameter of the housing (7) is either equal to the outer diameter of the pin (5) or smaller than the outer diameter of the pin (5), and the housing (7) tightly grasps the pin (5). The housing (7), and hence the cutlery basket (6), can only be rotated around the pin (5) when the user applies force.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the housing (7) is in the form of a square, whereas the pin (5) is in the form of a square with rounded edges. By means of the rotation of the cutlery basket (6), the housing (7) enables the cutlery basket (6) to be shifted to four different positions that approximately have a 90° angle between each other by gradually rotating around the pin (5) that is in the form of a square with rounded edges. Thus, the user can realize the loading operation with the selection of the most appropriate position.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the housing (7) is in the form of a hexagon, whereas the pin (5) is in the form of a hexagon with rounded edges. When the cutlery basket (6) is rotated, the housing (7) gets caught with and goes over the corners of the pin (5) so as to enable the cutlery basket (6) to be gradually rotated.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises more than one rib (8) that grasps the corners of the pin (5) disposed on the housing (7). The structure of the housing (7) is strengthened by means of the ribs (8). Moreover, the loss of the position of the cutlery basket (6) by rotating without the will of the user is prevented. Moreover, the lifespan of the cutlery basket (6) is extended by means of the prevention of the wear of the housing (7).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a first magnet (9) that is almost disposed on the surface of the cutlery basket (6) mounted on the side wall (3) and a second magnet (10) that is disposed on the side wall (3), both magnets (9, 10) being placed so as their opposite poles face each other. The first magnet (9) and the second magnet (10) facilitate the cutlery basket (6) to be kept in the selected position in a stationary manner.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cutlery basket (6) has a loading position whereto the cutlery basket (6) is brought by being rotated 90° top downwards around the pin (5) and wherein the loading port (11) faces the opening (13) and the cutlery such as fork, spoon, knife, etc. is easily loaded into the cutlery basket (6), and a washing position whereto the cutlery basket (6) is brought by being rotated 90° bottom upwards around the pin (5) and wherein the loading port (11) faces upwards at the ceiling of the body (2) and the cutlery such as fork, spoon, knife, etc. is prevented from falling into the washing tub (4) during the washing.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a spring (12), of which one end is mounted to the pin (5) and the other end to the housing (7), that enables the cutlery basket (6) brought to the loading position by the user to be brought to the washing position on its own when set free.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a plummet (14) that is disposed on the base of the cutlery basket (6) through the loading port (11) and that enables the loading port (11) to face upwards and the base of the cutlery basket (6) to face downwards when set free.
  • By means of the present invention, in portable small volume dishwashers (1), the cutlery baskets (6) can be used without compromising the ease of use by being mounted on the side wall (3), preferably close to the ceiling of the dishwasher (1). The user can realize the loading operation in the desired position by means of the cutlery basket (6) being moved by being rotated.
