Description

Domaine technique de l'inventionTechnical field of the invention

The present invention relates to a thermal motor fuel supply ramp protection cover.

The present invention relates more particularly to a gauge guide integrated into an engine cover.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

The combustion or combustion engines are generally protected by covers which cover an upper part of said engine. Said covers can thus provide sealing protection for certain elements of said engine against impurities in the external environment or to prevent the external environment from the pollution generated by said engine.

For thermal engines comprising a fuel supply duct or a common rail for a direct fuel injection better known under the name of "Common Rail" in English, it is known to have a protective cover of said duct which partially covers said conduit. Said cover comprises, for reasons of ease of assembly, for example a lower protection element and a substantially complementary upper protective element to be fixed to one another and to cover the fuel supply duct.

In known manner, a gauge guide is disposed at a lateral end of the cover and is connected to an oil supply conduit which opens into an oil sump disposed in the low engine. Said gauge guide may comprise a substantially conical inlet extended by a duct connected with the oil sump. In known manner said conical inlet is fixed to the lower protection element by transverse fixing means. Said fixing means may be screws driven into the lower protection element.

To reduce the weight, the upper and lower protection elements of the cover as well as the tapered inlet of the gauge guide are preferably made of plastic, which implies having a metal reinforcing piece arranged behind a wall of the element. lower protection, able to receive the fixing screws.

So according to the figure 1 representing a gauge-guide fixed to a protective cover, said guide-gauge is fixed against the lower protection element by two screws 31; said two screws are received behind the wall 18b of the lower element 16 of protection in a metal reinforcing piece. Fixing the gauge guide is delicate and causes the use of several parts.

The publication US-A1-4155167 discloses an oil fill gauge guide comprising a conical inlet and an attachment of said gauge guide downstream of the conical inlet in the direction of flow of the oil.

A disadvantage of said gauge guide is that the conical inlet is inserted into a housing fixed by the attachment downstream, which can cause significant congestion of the inlet guide gauge.

The publication US A1-20070261661 discloses an engine cover including an oil fill port. Said orifice is connected with an oil filling duct. The publication US 6,167,855 B discloses a protective shell and an oil filler pipe.

A disadvantage is that the protective cover does not surround either a fuel supply ramp or the filling duct. Pollutions can thus spread on the engine elements disposed below said protective cover.

Bref résumé de l'inventionBrief summary of the invention

The object of the invention is to remedy these problems and one of the objects of the invention is a protective cover of a fuel supply ramp comprising an oil filling gauge guide.

The present invention more particularly relates to a thermal motor feed ramp protection cover comprising:
  • an upper protective shell covering said feed ramp,
  • a complementary lower protective shell for surrounding said ramp,
  • a gauge guide with an oil filler pipe connected to the lower shell,
characterized in that said oil filling duct is integral with the lower shell, surrounded by side walls of the lower shell and comprises a fastening means at an upstream end to a housing of an engine element.

Advantageously, the oil filling duct comprises a fixing means to the casing of the motor element, which ensures the fixing of said duct without the need for metal reinforcement. Said feed duct is arranged inside the lower shell, which allows to collect pollution during the supply of oil in the lower shell.

In addition, the filling duct makes it possible to hook said lower shell to the engine element casing in order to make the fastening of said shell more reliable.
  • the filling duct has a conical inlet having flared edges at the upstream end.

Advantageously, the filling duct comprises a conical inlet having flared edges at an upstream end of said duct in the direction of flow and filling of the oil in order to optimally collect the oil poured during filling.
  • the upstream end of the conical inlet is extended by a bracket with the motor element housing.

Advantageously, the upstream end of the conical inlet is extended by a fixing lug which comes into contact with the casing of the element. engine. Fixing means then allows the fixing of said fixing lug and the conical inlet of the filling duct to said motor element. Since the casing of said motor element is preferably made of steel, it is therefore not necessary to use fixing reinforcements.
  • the upper shell has an opening opening surrounded by the flared upstream edges of the conical inlet of the filling duct.

Description détaillée des figuresDetailed description of the figures

In the following description, like reference numerals designate like parts or having similar functions.

As shown in the figure 1 , according to the state of the art, a heat engine 11 may comprise a fuel supply ramp 12 or "common rail" in English for supplying fuel to the various cylinders (not shown) of the engine. Said ramp is protected by a protective cover which comprises an upper shell 14 adapted to cover said ramp as well as other motor elements such as an injection pump 28, and a substantially complementary lower shell 16 to surround the lower parts of said ramp as well as said engine elements.

The upper shell 14 comprises a substantially flat plate extended at the sides and orthogonally by side walls 18a which have at their ends contact surfaces 20a.

The lower shell 16 substantially comprises side walls 18b and a bottom wall 19 which substantially envelop the entire fuel supply ramp and engine elements. The bottom wall 19 of said lower shell is generally disposed above a motor housing (not shown). The lower shell thus has a hollow shape to surround a lower portion of the fuel supply ramp as well as some engine elements disposed near said ramp. Said lower shell therefore comprises an interior facing said ramp. The ends of the side walls 18b of the lower shell also have contact surfaces 20b substantially complementary to the contact surfaces 20a of the upper shell 14 to allow support on each other during assembly of the protective cover. To do this, the upper 14 and lower 16 shells have bellows 21a, 21b vis-à-vis that are interlocked with each other by quick fastening systems 22.

The side walls 18b have lateral fixing holes 18c opposite fixing holes in a member (not shown) of the motor housing. According to figure 2 three fixing holes 18c make it possible to hold the lower shell 16 firmly against the motor housing.

A filling duct 17 is fixed against a wall 18 of the lower shell 16 by two fixing screws 31 which pass through said wall to be received on the opposite side in a reinforcing element which may be a simple metal plate (not shown). The mounting of said conduit is not easy and involves a complex assembly operation.

According to the invention and represented in the figure 2 , the filling duct 17 is arranged inside the lower shell 16, that is to say that the side walls 18b of said lower shell 16 surround said supply duct.

According to figures 4 and 5 , the filling duct 17 comprises a substantially conical inlet 23 having at an upstream end 24 in the direction of filling of the oil flared edges 24 'and a narrowed section 25' at the opposite end downstream 25.

The upstream end 24 is extended by a fixing lug 26 which extends substantially radially from the flared edges and which has a fixing orifice 27 at the opposite free end. The fixing orifice is then placed opposite a fixing hole in a metal wall of a housing of an engine element. For example, said motor element may be a high-pressure injection pump 28. Fixing the filling duct to a metal casing therefore does not require a reinforcing piece.

De manière préférentielle, l'extrémité aval 25 de l'entrée conique est solidaire du conduit de transfert 27.According to one embodiment, the downstream end 25 of the conical inlet 23 is driven into a substantially cylindrical transfer conduit 27 which passes through the lower wall 19 of the lower shell 16. Preferably, the downstream end 25 of the conical inlet is integral with the transfer conduit 27.

Preferably, the transfer conduit 27 and the lower shell 16 are a single piece of plastic from the molding. The plastic is, for example, polypropylene reinforced with glass fibers such as PP-GF30. Preferably, the upper and lower shells are of the same material. Said transfer duct may be hollowed out in a side wall 18b of the lower shell 16. Said transfer duct thus opens from the bottom wall 19 by a connecting piece 29 adapted to receive an oil supply tube 32 which leads to the oil to the oil sump (not shown) at the bottom of the engine.

Thus the lower shell 16 is arranged to cover the lower part of the feed ramp and is then fixed by fixing screws passing through the lateral attachment holes 18c to the motor housing.

The upper shell 14 has an orifice 30 passing through the upper plate and opening into the conical inlet 23 of the filling duct. Preferably, said orifice 30 is extended by lips (no shown) which are received in the flared edges of the conical inlet 23. Said lips may be of polyurethane.

The engine is then mounted in the engine compartment of the vehicle. The upper shell is finally assembled to the lower shell to form the protective cover of the ramp.

The objective of the invention is realized. The protective cover includes an oil fill line which is simply and reliably attached to a metal housing of an engine element.

As goes without saying, the invention is not limited to the embodiments of this plug, described above as examples, it encompasses all variants. Thus, in particular, the conical inlet 23 and the lower shell 16 with the transfer duct 27 are made of a single plastic part obtained by molding to facilitate the assembly of the lower shell 16.
