Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the fixing of a precious or semi-precious stone on the external front face of a control member of a timepiece such as a winding crown, a push-piece or a lock for example .
  • the invention also relates to a method of producing such a control member.
  • the front face of a winding crown when it is provided with a precious or semi-precious stone comprises a planar circular zone bordered by a thin metal wall which, once the stone in place, is folded against the stone to form a closed setting.
  • This method of operation can only be used to fix a circular base cabochon and provided that this cabochon has dimensions, in particular its diameter, less than the diameter of the winding crown.
  • the support comprises elastic arms, the end of which cooperates with grooves made in the sides of the stone to be crimped. These grooves are made in the invisible lower portion of the precious stone, the size of which is that of a conventional diamond, its point being housed between the two elastic arms. This realization requires a diamond cutting of the stone which results in a significant thickness of setting.
  • a multi-stone paving comprising a support provided with a plate comprising anchoring bars provided with edges cooperating with grooves of the paving stones so that these stones are held in a plane, their grooves being invisible.
  • the support also includes retaining members coming into contact with the exterior stones of the paving to hold them in place.
  • a belt connects the retaining members and surrounds all the stones of the paving. This embodiment is not usable for fixing a single stone on its support.
  • the object of the present invention is to produce a control member for a timepiece, the front face of which is provided with a single precious or semi-precious stone in the form of a cabochon, or a rounded head (cut faceted or not) of non-circular shape, preferably polygonal, and of which in particular the precious or semi-precious stone has a base, at least two sides of which closely follow two corresponding sides of the front face of the control member.
  • Another object of the present invention is the fixing on the front face of a control member of a timepiece of small size of a precious or semi-precious stone in the shape of a cabochon without harming the aesthetics of the control unit.
  • the subject of the present invention is a control member for a timepiece comprising the characteristics listed in claim 1.
  • the present invention also relates to a method for producing such a control member which includes the operations listed in claim 6.
  • the control unit of a timepiece illustrated in figure 1 is a winding crown, a pusher or a lock formed by a body comprising a head 1 and a control rod 2.
  • the control rod 2 is capable of passing through the middle of a case of a timepiece and to cooperate with a mechanism of a watch movement placed in said box.
  • the head 1 of the body of the control member is intended to be located outside the box of the timepiece and capable of being handled by a user.
  • the head 1 of the body of the control member has a cross section, perpendicular to the rod 2 of the body of the control member, non-circular, having two parallel rectilinear sides 3, 4 connected by two convex sides 5, 6.
  • This head 1 therefore has the shape of a straight cylinder of elongated substantially rectangular shape having two straight sides and two convex sides.
  • the sides of the head of the control member may have other curved shapes or not.
  • the front face 7 of this head 1 of the control member is planar and comprises two blades 8 generally extending in a direction parallel to the rod 2 and whose internal walls facing each other are disposed substantially along a line perpendicular to the straight sides 3, 4 of this front face 7.
  • These blades 8 preferably come from a manufacturing part with the head 1 of the control member but can also be attached to or fixed therein by welding, gluing or any other means.
  • the precious or semi-precious stone 9 fixed to the body 1, 2 of the control member has the shape of a cabochon, that is to say of a rounded head which has a base 10 whose shape and dimensions generally correspond to the surface of the front face 7 of the head 1.
  • the rounded head is not facetted, but in other variants it may have facets.
  • the base 10 has two rectilinear sides corresponding to the two rectilinear sides 3, 4 of the head 1 and two straight parts formed by two end faces 11, 12 of the stone on which the internal sides of the blades 8. These end faces 11, 12 are generally parallel to each other.
  • the lower part of the base 10 also has a flat surface.
  • this stone 9 When this stone 9 is placed on the front face 7 of the head, it is located between the straight sides 3, 4 and the blades 8, the lateral edges of the cabochon-shaped stone being aligned and superimposed on the straight sides 3, 4 of the front face 7 of the head 1.
  • the upper face of the stone 9 is curved, but it can take any desired shape.
  • the base of the stone is rectangular and the distance separating the two long sides of this base is substantially identical to the distance separating the two straight sides 3, 4 of the head 1 of the control member.
  • the end faces 11, 12 of the stone 9 are machined for example by grinding to each present a notch 11 ', 12' extending over part of the length of the end faces 11, 12 of the stone.
  • the stone 9 is placed on the front face 7 of the head 1 between the blades 8 so that the straight edges of the base 10 of the stone 9 are aligned with the rectilinear sides 3, 4 of the head, and that the end faces 11, 12 of the stone 9 are located between the blades 8, then these blades 8 are deformed so that their upper parts are placed in the notches 11 'and 12' stone 9 and crimp the stone 9 in this way on the head 1 of the control member.
  • the control member is therefore distinguished in that its non-circular head has at least two rectilinear sides on the front face of which a cabochon-shaped stone with a polygonal base, at least two sides of which correspond to the rectilinear sides of the front face of the head is fixed by crimping by deforming the upper part of two blades, integral with the front face of the head, in two notches practiced in two end faces of the stone. These notches 11 ', 12' are located on the visible sides of the cabochon.
  • control member also comprises a cap 15 fixed by screws on the head 1 of the control member having a cavity in which the cap is located.
  • end faces 11, 12 of the cabochon are preferably parallel to one another and that the notches 11 ', 12' are located in the height of the front part of the cabochon, generally in its crown.
  • the shape of the cabochon-shaped stone can be arbitrary provided that it has two opposite end faces each provided with a notch.
  • this cabochon, seen in plan has a polygonal shape, in particular rectangular.
  • This crimping process allows the production of a control member of a timepiece whose head is not circular but has at least two rectilinear sides. It has the advantage of allowing the realization of a control member of a timepiece which seen from above has at least two opposite and / or parallel sides which seem limited by the precious or semi-precious stone, the head of the control member not being visible along these two sides. This is particularly advantageous for a non-circular, for example polygonal, preferably substantially rectangular control member.
  • the two large rectilinear sides of the rectangular stone are juxtaposed with the rectilinear sides 3, 4 of the head 1 of the control member.
  • a crimped crown is thus obtained where a large part of the cabochon, or even of the cabochon crown, is visible without the stone coming out of the profile of the crown.

Description

    1. 1. On taille une pierre en forme de cabochon de manière à lui conférer une base plane et deux faces terminales comportant chacune une entaille ;
    2. 2. on configure la tête d'un organe de commande d'une pièce d'horlogerie de manière à lui conférer une face frontale plane munie de deux lames parallèles s'étendant hors de cette face frontale ;
    3. 3. on place la base de la pierre taillée sur la face frontale plane de la tête de l'organe de commande de manière à ce que les entailles des faces terminales et la pierre soient situées entre les, et en regard des, lames de la face frontale de la tête ; et
    4. 4. on repousse la partie supérieure des lames dans les entailles de la pierre pour sertir la pierre sur la tête de l'organe de commande.
