  • the areas of the blister 1 which match the positions of the landmarks 6 and the central instrument verification recess 34 (blister area 5) will then be optically relevant areas, too. They will have the above-mentioned high optical properties.
  • the functionality of the central recess 34 of the tracking reference array 30 is preserved by forming the corresponding recess 5 into the blister material at the respective location.
  • the blister recess 5 is accommodated in the array recess 34 which helps to secure the blister 1 on the array.
  • the material thickness of the blister portion 1 causes a small deviation of the verification/calibration position provided by the original recess 34 of the tracking reference array 30, and in order to keep this deviation as small as possible, the angle of the thermoformed blister recess 5 (see Figure 4b ) shall be smaller (-80°) the angle of the reference array's recess of 90° (see Figure 4a ).

  • the navigation system 20 has a camera system 22 which detects light reflected or emitted by navigation markers and the navigation computer 21 translates this information into positional information such that tracked instruments can be displayed in a correct positional relationship to each other or to a registered patient on the screen 23.
  • an additional marker such as the marker 10 in Figures 7a and 7b , to the surface of the blister 1, it is possible to automatically detect whether a blister portion 1 is present or not.
  • the characteristics of the marker 10 can be made known to the navigation system which will, upon registering such a marker, use the "blister present" information to compensate certain positional deviations or differences introduced by the blister drape or to activate additional functionalities.
  • remote control functionality could be activated, microscope marker positions could be updated or positional deviations of the central instrument verification recess could be compensated.
  • Remote control of the navigation system is especially beneficial if a sterile user wants to operate the navigation system without impairing his sterility.
  • Figure 1 two possible surfaces for remote control functionality are shown and designated by reference numeral 11.
  • the navigation system will be able to detect that a pointer tip is being held onto one of the remote control surfaces 11 and a specified action (for example "next page” or "previous page") can be performed by the navigation system.

Claims (13)

  1. Steriles Operationsabdecktuch umfassend einen Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) für ein Tracking-Referenz-Array (30), wobei zumindest ein Teil des Abdeckungsabschnitts (1) an sich stabil geformt ist und eine Form aufweist, die geeignet ist mehrere Trackingmarken (32) eines Tracking-Referenz-Arrays (30) für Computer-assistierte Chirurgie aufzunehmen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) Bereiche mit minimierten retro-reflektiven Eigenschaften aufweist, welche eine Oberfläche oder Oberflächenstruktur aufweisen, die Reflektionen verhindern.
  2. Steriles Operationsabdecktuch gemäß Anspruch 1, wobei der Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) aus einem rigiden künstlichen Material besteht, welches geformt oder thermogeformt wurde, um an die Kontur des Tracking-Referenz-Arrays (30) zu passen.
  3. Steriles Operationsabdecktuch gemäß Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei der Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) angepasst ist, den oberen Bereich des gesamten Tracking-Referenz-Arrays (30) zu bedecken.
  4. Steriles Oberflächenabdecktuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei zumindest ein Teil des Abdeckungsabschnitts (1) transparent ist.
  5. Steriles Oberflächenabdeckungstuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, wobei der Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) transparente durchsichtige Bereiche aufweist, wobei die durchsichtigen Bereiche hochgradig lichtdurchlässig sind oder hohe optische Eigenschaften aufweisen.
  6. Steriles Operationsabdecktuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, wobei auf der Oberfläche des Abdeckungsabschnitts (1) Kalibrierungsvertiefungen (5) oder Referenzpunkte an Positionen, welche der Position der entsprechenden Vertiefungen oder Punkte auf dem Tracking-Referenz-Array (30) entsprechen oder spiegeln, ausgebildet sind, um separate Kalibrierungsorte oder Referenzorte zur Verfügung zu stellen, die dem entsprechenden Tuch zugeordnet sind.
  7. Steriles Oberflächenabdecktuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, wobei auf der Oberfläche des Abdeckungsabschnitts (1) eine oder mehrere zusätzliche funktionelle Bereiche gekennzeichnet oder festgelegt sind.
  8. Steriles Oberflächenabdeckungstuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, wobei das Tuch ferner einen flexiblen äußeren Tuchabschnitt (2) umfasst, welcher den Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) in einem Verbindungsbereich verbindet oder umgibt.
  9. Steriles Oberflächenabdeckungstuch gemäß Anspruch 8, wobei das Tuch ausgebildet ist, in ein Bündel gefaltet zu werden, welches eine Orientierungshilfe aufweist, die auf einer Seite sichtbar ist und dem Benutzer die Orientierung des Abdeckungsabschnitts (1) des Tuchs zeigt.
  10. Steriles Oberflächenabdeckungstuch gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, wobei der Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) auf seiner unteren Oberfläche einen oder mehrere Haltevorrichtungen (16) zum Einrasten mit dem Tracking-Referenz-Array (30) aufweist, um den Abdeckungsabschnitt (1) darauf zu befestigen.
  11. Oberflächenabdeckungstuchanordnung umfassend zumindest zwei Lagen des sterilen Oberflächenabdeckungstuchs gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, wobei ein aufliegender Abdeckungsabschnitt (1B) eines Tuchs dazu ausgebildet ist, einen darunterliegenden Abdeckungsabschnitt (lA) eines anderen Tuchs genau passend aufzunehmen.
  12. Anordnung gemäß Anspruch 11, wobei der aufliegende Abdeckungsabschnitt (1B) ein Identifikationskennzeichen oder Label (12, 13A, 13B) umfasst, welches es eindeutig identifiziert oder von dem tiefer liegenden Abdeckungsabschnitt (lA) unterscheidet, durch Positionsinformationen oder symbolische Informationen, die von einem medizinischen Navigationssystem (20) zu empfangen und zu verarbeiten sind.
  13. Ein medizinisches Navigationsverfahren in welchem, in einem chirurgischen Setup, zwei gestapelte Abdeckungsabschnitte eines Oberflächenabdeckungstuchs gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10 oder eine Oberflächenabdeckungstuchanordnung gemäß einem oder mehrerer der Ansprüche 11 oder 12 ein Tracking-Referenz-Array (30) bedecken, wobei
    - ein Identifikationskennzeichen oder Label auf dem zweiten Abdeckungsabschnitt durch ein medizinisches Navigationssystem erkannt wird, und wobei
    Positionsabweichungen in der Navigation, welche durch bekannte Positionsverschiebungen eines oder mehrerer aufliegender Tuchbestandteile verursacht werden, kompensiert werden durch Wiederberechnung und Rekalibrierung der Navigation auf der Positionsverschiebungsbasis.
