Abstract
The present invention relates to a side rear-view mirror assembly (1), which eliminates the blind spots on the right and left of the vehicle, and which essentially comprises at least one body (2) which remains fixed when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear, at least one fixed mirror (3) which is located on the body (2), at least one support mirror (4) which is integrated in the body (2) and which is automatically opened radially when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear, at least one illumination element (5) which is positioned on the support mirror (4) and which particularly facilitates night vision by projecting light on the ground where the vehicle is located.
Description
SIDE REAR- VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a side rear-view mirror assembly which eliminates the blind spots on the right and left of the vehicle by enhancing night vision by means of support mirrors and illumination elements adjacent to them.
Background of the Invention
In cases where the driver will perform a reverse maneuver with the vehicle and/or park her/his vehicle, blind spots/areas may occur on the right and left of the vehicle which are not in the field of sight of the driver. These blind spots decrease drive safety in cases of parking and back maneuver. Today, electronic rear-view systems (e.g. cameras and sensors) are used in order to eliminate this problem; however these systems require high costs.
International patent document no. WO0232723, an application known in the state of the art, discloses an outer double rear-view side mirror mechanism. The mirror mechanism comprises a housing and a support. The housing has an upper location (3) and a bottom location (4) that are separated by a transversal partition (5).
European patent document no. EP0310261, another application in the state of the art, discloses a side rear-view mirror assembly for a vehicle. The invention comprises a housing, a first mirror and a second mirror.
United States Patent document no. US4182552, another application known in the state of the art, discloses a side mirror. The side mirror provides extra sight area to the driver. The side mirror moves at about 6-10 degrees.
Most of the rear-view mirrors used in the state of the art enable to view the ground, however they cause problems when we also need the field of sight (visibility) at the normal position of the mirror during parking and performing reverse maneuver. The drivers usually forget to bring the mirrors back to the original position and may proceed in the traffic with the bent state of the mirrors. This in turn results with undesirable situations such as accidents.
Although some side rear-view mirrors can be used together with integrated support mirrors, they do not possess the feature of automatically opening in an angled manner when the vehicle is shifted to reverse gear.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a side rear-view mirror assembly which automatically opens in cases of parking and shifting to reverse gear.
Another objective of the of the present invention is to provide a side rear-view mirror assembly which enhances night vision by means of the illumination elements it comprises.
A further objective of the present invention is to provide a side rear-view mirror assembly which illuminates the ground where the vehicle is located in an angled manner.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A side rear-view mirror assembly developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, wherein
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the closed state of the integrated support mirror in the side rear-view mirror assembly of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the open state of the integrated support mirror in the side rear-view mirror assembly of the present invention.
The components in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:
1. Side rear-view mirror assembly
2. Body
3. Fixed mirror
4. Support mirror
5. Illumination element
The side rear-view mirror assembly (1) of the present invention essentially comprises
at least one body (2) which remains fixed when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear,
at least one fixed mirror (3) which is located on the body (2),
at least one support mirror (4) which is integrated in the body (2) and which is automatically opened radially when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear,
at least one illumination element (5) which is positioned on the support mirror (4) and which particularly facilitates night vision by projecting light on the ground where the vehicle is located.
The side rear-view mirror assembly (1) of the present invention enables to eliminate blind spots by means of the support mirror (4) that opens automatically in cases of parking and reverse gear and the illumination element (5) that is positioned thereon, and thus enables the field of sight to remain the same by means of the fact that the body (2) and the mirror (3) provided on the body (2)
remain fixed. The fact that the field of sight does not change enables to reduce the accidents that may occur in traffic flow.
The support mirrors (4) located on the side rear- view mirror assemblies (1) provided on the right and left sides of the vehicle illuminate the ground where the vehicle is located in an angled manner, and allows the driver to see the ground easily without having to bend.
Claims
1. A side rear-view mirror assembly (1), which eliminates the blind spots on the right and left of the motor vehicles, characterized by
at least one body (2) which remains fixed when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear,
at least one fixed mirror (3) which is located on the body (2),
at least one support mirror (4) which is integrated in the body (2) and which is automatically opened radially when the vehicle is being parked or shifted to reverse gear,
at least one illumination element (5) which is positioned on the support mirror (4) and which particularly facilitates night vision by projecting light on the ground where the vehicle is located.
2. A side rear-view mirror assembly (1), according to Claim 1, characterized by the support mirror (4) which illuminates the ground on which the vehicle is located in an angled manner and which allows the ground to be easily seen without requiring the driver to bend.
