Description
- The present invention relates to an exhaust hood for use above a cooking range. The present invention more particularly relates to a light fixture mounting plate of the exhaust hood.
- An exhaust hood is usually provided with a lighting facility for illuminating the cooking range. The lighting facility of an exhaust hood typically includes a light fixture for supporting an incandescent lamp, a fluorescent lamp or a halogen lamp. The light fixture provides electrical connection to the lamp and is usually mounted into a recess of a mounting plate which is attachable the frame of the main body without screw connection.
- EP 2 662 636 discloses an exhaust hood for use above a cooking range. This exhaust hood has a light fixture mounting plate which includes a plurality of apertures each for receiving a lighting facility. In this exhaust hood, the mounting plate is attached to the frame of the main body.
- In the above type of exhaust hoods when the fan assembly is taken into operation, the removable parts, in particular the light fixture mounting plate starts producing noise due to the vibrations. In general, the noise is very unpleasant for the customer. A major reason for the noise is the clearance between the mounting plate and the frame. However, if the clearance is reduced or totally eliminated, the mating of the frame and the mounting plate during the assembly becomes increasingly more complicated and time consuming.
- An objective of the present invention is to provide an exhaust hood which overcomes the aforementioned drawback of the prior art in a cost efficient way and which has a light fixture mounting plate and a mating frame which can be easily manufactured and assembled.
- This objective has been achieved by the exhaust hood as defined in claim 1. Further achievements have been attained by the subject-matters respectively defined in the dependent claims.
- In the exhaust hood of the present invention the frame has one or more than one slot and the mounting plate has one or more than one tab for detachably attaching to the corresponding slot by way of insertion. Each tab projects in a longitudinal direction vertically towards the frame and extends for a predetermined width in the transverse direction parallel to the frame. Each slot is inclined relative to said transverse direction of the corresponding tab by an acute angle. In the exhaust hood of the present invention each slot has a shape such that in the inserted state two diagonally opposing lateral edges of the corresponding tab firmly abut against the opposing inclined sides of the slot respectively.
- In an embodiment, each inclined slot is parallelogram shaped whose width is substantially equal to the predetermined width of the corresponding tab and height is larger than the thickness of the corresponding tab. In the present invention the slope of the inclined slot is not limited to a particular value and defines an acute angle with respect to the transverse direction. A slope of the inclined slot is determined in accordance with a thickness of the mounting plate.
- In another embodiment, the tabs are horizontally formed on the mounting plate by a folding process. In a version of this embodiment, each tab has a flat rectangular shaped structure. Thus, the need for any shaping die has been obviated.
- In another embodiment, the frame and the mounting plate are leveled so as to define a smooth interface.
- In another embodiment, the tabs and the inclined slots are formed such that their centers oppose each other respectively.
- In another embodiment, the tabs and the inclined slots are formed at positions comparatively close to the apertures for the light fixtures so as to improve the mechanical strength.
- In another embodiment, the tabs and the inclined slots have rounded corners.
- With the present invention, particularly by virtue of the tabs and the corresponding inclined slots, the mounting plate can be easily manufactured and assembled with the frame without play. Thereby, the mounting plate can be prevented from producing any unpleasant noise during the operation of the exhaust hood. With the present invention, the mounting plate can be easily assembled with the frame solely by way of insertion. Thus, the need for any screws or the like has been obviated. With the present invention, the manufacturing and assembly cost have been reduced both in labor and material. The present invention can be applied to tabs with different size, namely with different width and thickness by correspondingly adapting the size of the inclined slot. Thereby different strength requirements can be easily met in accordance with a specific design of the exhaust hood. With the present invention, a consumer satisfaction can be increased.
