Description

A LOCKABLE LUG WRENCH
Technical Field The present invention relates to a lug wrench which is used to loosen and tighten lug nuts, and to lift and lower the jack when changing the wheels in all vehicles such as passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, and pickup trucks, provides ease of use in its entirety, and also ensures customer safety during use.
State of the Art The existing foldable lug wrench causes problems intrinsically such as closing during use. This in turn causes difficulties during use and poses a risk to customer safety.
As a result of the patent search, the utility model application numbered 2012/09444 has been encountered. Said application is related to a multi-purpose arm with a dual-use feature which rotates the jack drive shaft. A lug wrench is formed in one end of said multi-purpose arm and an actuator on the other end. Said product is not collapsible. This increases the space occupied by said arm and in some cases, causes difficulty of use.
Another application found during the patent search is the utility model application numbered 201 1/01743. When the product described in the utility model application numbered 201 1/01743 is analyzed, one will see that the main body has a really complicated geometry. This not only results in production difficulties but also causes the product to occupy too much space since it does not have a collapsible structure.
In conclusion, due to the abovementioned drawbacks and inadequacy of the existing solutions with respect to the subject matter, it is deemed necessary to make a development in the relevant technical field.
Objects of the Invention
The present invention has been developed being inspired by the existing conditions and aims to solve the drawbacks discussed above. The primary object of the invention is to both provide ease of use and eliminate the problems that may affect the customer safety thanks to the lockable structure of the lug wrench according to the invention which enables locking.
In order to achieve the abovementioned objectives, a lockable lug wrench has been developed which is used to loosen and tighten the lug nuts, and to lift and lower the jack when changing the wheels in the vehicles; and comprises a body; an arm extending the length of the lug wrench; a hexagon socket connected to said body, transferring the motion it receives from said arm to the lug nut and jack shaft, and connected onto said body such that it can perform a rotational motion. Said lockable lug wrench is characterized by comprising a protrusion and a hole, both of which lock said arm to said body.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an object of the invention is that it comprises said hole formed on said arm, and said protrusion formed on said body.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an object of the invention is that it comprises said protrusion formed on said arm, and said hole formed on said body. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an object of the invention is that it comprises said hole formed on said arm and said protrusion formed on said body, both of which lock the arm to the body after said arm is rotated for 180° on said body when the lug wrench is in the closed position.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an object of the invention is that it comprises said protrusion formed on said arm and said hole formed on said body, both of which lock the arm to the body after said arm is rotated for 180° on said body when the lug wrench is in the closed position.
All structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood thanks to the following figures and detailed description composed with reference to these figures and for this reason, it is necessary that the evaluation should be done by taking into consideration these figures and detailed description. Detailed Description of the Invention
In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the lockable lug wrench according to the invention which is used to loosen and tighten lug nuts, and to lift and lower the jack when changing the wheels in all vehicles such as passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, and pickup trucks are described only for a better understanding of the subject. The lockable lug wrench according to the invention comprises a body (1 ), a hexagon socket (2), a first rivet (3), an arm (4), and a second rivet. The characteristics of these parts are specified below:
Hexagon socket (2): The hexagon socket (2) is connected onto the body (1 ) by means of the first rivet (3). The hexagon socket (2) is a transfer member which transfers the motion it receives from the arm (4) to the lug nut and jack shaft.
First rivet (3): The first rivet (3) connects the body (1 ) to the hexagon socket (2). - Arm (4): The arm (4) is a part which allows extending the length of the lug wrench and is connected onto the body (1) by means of the second rivet (5).
Second rivet (5): The second rivet (5) connects the arm (4) to the body (1 ). - Body (1 ): The hexagon socket (2) and the arm (4) are located inside the body (1 ) when said lockable lug wrench is in the closed position.
The body (1 ), hexagon socket (2), first rivet (3), arm (4), and second rivet (3) whose characteristics are specified above are the parts existing in the prior art (Figure 7). On the other hand, the novel characteristics of the invention are a protrusion (6) and a hole (7), both of which lock the arm (4) to the body (1 ) when the lockable lug wrench is open (Figure 3, Figure 4). Said protrusion (6) and hole (7) are formed on the arm (4) and the body (1 ).
In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the protrusion (6) is formed on the body (1 ) while the hole (7) is formed on the arm (Figure 4, Figure 5a, Figure 5b). On the other hand, in an alternative embodiment of the invention, the protrusion (6) can be formed on the arm (4) while the hole (7) can be formed on the body (1 ) (Figure 6a, Figure 6b). In the prior art and the embodiment of the invention, the arm (4) is used after being rotated for 180° on the body (1 ) in the direction of the arrow shown in Figure 1. In the prior art (Figure 7), the arm (4) makes a rotational motion from the connection point during use since there is no locking in this position. This is an undesirable situation during use. Therefore, in the preferred embodiment of the lockable lug wrench according to the invention, said hole (7) is formed on the arm (4) and a protrusion (6) corresponding to the hole (7) is formed on the body (1 ) in order to restrict the motion of the arm (4) during use. When the arm (4) passes from the first position to the final position thereof, the protrusion (6) formed on the body (1 ) passes through the hole (7) formed on the arm (4), and locking as seen in Figure 4 is achieved. Thus, the arm (4) is prevented from making a rotational motion from the connection point during use.
In said alternative embodiment of the invention, on the other hand, locking is achieved such that the protrusion (6) on the arm (4) passes through the hole (7) on the body (1 ).
