Description

  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising an elevating means.
  • In dishwashers, racks are used wherein the items to be washed are placed. The user can perform the loading/unloading operation by pulling the rack forwards. In dishwashers comprising more than one rack, the lower rack, when changed to the loading/unloading position, is balanced on the door that opens forward by rotating around a horizontal axis. The user has to bend in order to perform the loading and/or unloading operation to/from the lower rack that is relatively at the lower position. This situation causes the users to be strained and to have backaches. In order to solve this problem, the state of the art elevating means are used. The elevating means comprise embodiments like switch mechanisms wherein the rack is lifted from below, suspension mechanisms wherein the rack is lifted by arms in the body, and mechanisms wherein the rack is lifted from the rear by the lifting arms disposed on the side walls. In lifting arm systems, the rack has to be attached to the lifting arm. Generally, the user manually attaches the rack to the lifting arms and when the rack is attached from only one side, the rack is lifted from the one side thereof and topples down when the elevating means is operated.
  • In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP1744656 , a dishwasher is disclosed wherein the retaining supports that support the basket are opened and closed by being actuated with a lifting means.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US2007035220 , a dishwasher is disclosed comprising a basket that is lifted by the arms engaged with the side walls by making a swinging motion.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US2003042825 , a dishwasher is disclosed wherein the height adjustment of the rack is made by moving upwards - downwards the telescopic rail housings whereon the rack is mounted.
  • In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2005104924 , a dishwasher is disclosed comprising with at least one lower basket for the dish being cleaned, said basket being movable between a first position inside the cabinet and a second position mainly outside the cabinet.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the user is informed when the rack is engaged with the elevating means.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises an elevating means having lifting arms that enable the rack to be elevated and a locking lug that is disposed on the rack, that has a channel wherein the lifting arm enters when the rack is pulled outwards and that enables the rack to be engaged to the elevating means by releasably locking onto the lifting arm. In the dishwasher of the present invention, while the locking lug is being releasably locked a sound is generated that can be heard by the user and thus, the user is enabled to be informed when the rack is engaged with the elevating means.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, a ball-spring mechanism is provided on the locking lug. The ball-spring mechanism extends in the channel, causing the channel to be narrowed, and the lifting arm moves the ball and compresses the spring while moving inside the channel and advances in the channel. When the lifting arm is seated into the channel, the spring pushes the ball back into the channel and prevents the lifting arm from dislodging from the channel by itself. By means of the sound generated while the lifting arm pushes the ball, the user is assured that the lifting arm is seated into the locking lug.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises an embossment that is arranged on the locking lug and that extends into the channel, enabling the channel to be narrowed. In this embodiment, in order for the lifting arm to be seated into the channel, the rack is pulled forward and the lifting arm is jumped over the embossment. The embossment prevents the lifting arm from dislodging during vibrations and by means of the sound generated while the lifting arm jumps thereover, the user is assured that the rack is engaged with the elevating means.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the channel is L-shaped. When the lifting arm is seated into the channel and the elevating means lifts the rack upwards, the lifting arm bears against the other end of the L-shaped channel and thus, the rack is prevented from dislodging from the elevating means while being carried by the elevating means.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, two locking lugs are disposed one above the other at each of the rear corners of the rack, and two lifting arms are disposed one above the other at each of the side walls. By means of this embodiment, the rack is supported from two points and prevented from tilting forward while being carried.
  • By means of the locking lug used in the dishwasher of the present invention, the lifting arms are releasably locked and the rack is engaged with the elevating means. By means of the sound generated during the locking of the lifting arms, the user can understand whether the lifting arms hold the rack or not and thus, the elevating means is prevented from being operated without engagement.
  • The model embodiments relating to the dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:
    • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a dishwasher comprising an elevating means.
    • Figure 2 - is the perspective view of a rack comprising locking lugs.
