Abstract
The present invention relates to a carrier (1) that is suitable for carrying bottles and beverage cans (K), for example beer, soft drink etc. cans having a cylindrical body, and that can be placed into cooling devices like the refrigerator.
Description
- The present invention relates to a carrier enabling the bottles or beverage cans to be carried.
- In transportation of bottles, tin cans or the aseptic packing boxes, carriers like plastic crates and cardboard carriers are used by the user for carrying. In the course of time, various solutions have emerged in order for the users to conveniently carry the bought product/products in a balanced manner and without damaging the product, for example preventing the bottles from breaking by bumping to one another. The general feature of the carriers used, for example six-pack beer carriers is that they have symmetrical configuration, thus the placed products are positioned oppositely and balance is maintained during carrying. In the course of time these solutions have begun to be used for promotional aims and carriers of different configurations and asymmetrical configurations have emerged. But in the situation when the products are not positioned symmetrically, that is side by side in only one side of the carrier, problem of balance is encountered and it becomes difficult for the user the hold the carrier by one hand in a balanced manner. Furthermore, when heavy products are carried, the users may experience wrist pain. The said imbalance furthermore makes it difficult for placing the carrier into the refrigerator and taking it out.
- In the Patent Application No. GB2279065, a carrier having more than one inclined surface is disclosed.
- In the Patent Application No. DE102009049933, a foldable bottle holder is disclosed.
- In the Patent Application No. CN202414426, a carrier is disclosed, that is formed by two parallel surfaces and inclined surfaces that are disposed therebetween.
- The aim of the present invention is the realization of a carrier that enables bottles or beverage cans to be carried in a balanced manner.
- The carrier realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a resting extension that is bent upwards from the rear side of the base, that extends towards the side surface of the bottle or beverage can (referred to as "can" hereinafter) and compresses the can from below when the can is seated on the base. The user is enabled to carry the carrier in a more balanced position by means of the resting extension.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the angle between the plane of the base and the resting extension is an angle that is smaller than the right angle. When the can is compressed, a two dimensional force is exerted thereon and compression is strengthened by the resting extension that contacts the carried can diagonally.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the resting extension extends so as to form a right angle with the base, and contact with the can is realized not from a single point but in the form of a surface contact.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the side view of the resting extension is C-shaped. By means of this embodiment, compression of the can and the formed forces are in the horizontal plane and the tensile force is transferred to the base without loss.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the point where the resting extension contacts the can and the point of the placing hole contacting the can closest to the handle are not aligned in the vertical axis and the distance of the point where the resting extension contacts the can in the direction horizontal to the handle direction is greater than the similar distance of the said other point. By means of this embodiment, the resting extension is enabled to be produced shorter, and the formed forces are enabled to be transferred without stretching the resting extension. Furthermore, by the contact points not being on the same axis, the compression provided by the resting extension is increased.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the width of the base is shorter than the width of the support plate in the horizontal axis so that the user can grasp the handle conveniently when the can is placed in the carrier.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the shape of the placing hole is circular.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the placing hole is oval.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the placing hole has a square cross-section and cans with square cross-sections are enabled to be carried.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, one or more than one handle hole is arranged on the handle so that the user can carry the carrier more conveniently.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier is produced as a single piece from a flexible material. By means of the carrier being a single piece, the losses in force transfer are minimized.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, a cooler is used that is placed inside the carrier and which enables the cans to be kept cool. By means of this embodiment, the cans on the carrier taken out of the refrigerator are enabled to be kept cool.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooler is produced by using a phase changing material.
- In the carrier of the present invention, the force exerted by the user to balance the carrier during the carrying operation is decreased by the reverse momentum provided with the resting extension. Moreover, compression is provided also from the base of the can, thus preventing dislodgement of the can during carrying.
- The model embodiments relating to the carrier realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:
- Figure 1 – is the sideways perspective view of a carrier related to an embodiment of the present invention.
- Figure 2 – is the sideways profile perspective view of a carrier and the can related to another embodiment of the present invention

- Figure 4 – is the perspective view of the cooler related to an embodiment of the present invention.
- The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
- 1. Carrier
- 2. Base
- 3. Front wall
- 4. Support plate
- 5. Placing hole
- 6. Handle
- 7. Resting extension
- 8. Handle hole
- 9. Cooler
- K. Can
- DN. Point of rotation
- G1. Base width
- G2. Support plate horizontal projection width
- The carrier (1) suitable to carry bottles and beverage cans (K), for example beer, soft drinks etc. cans having a cylindrical body, and which can be placed into cooling devices like the refrigerator, comprises
- a base (2),
- a front wall (3) extending upwards by being bent from the front side of the base (2),
- a support plate (4) that is bent backwards from the front wall (3) and that extends in an inclined manner so as to rise at the upper side of the base (2),
- at least one placing hole (5) that is arranged on the support plate (4) and that supports the cans (K) seated on the base (2) and
- a handle (6) that extends upwards by being bent from the side of the inclined support plate (4) at the upper elevation.
- In the carrier (1), the can (K) to be carried is seated on the base (2) by being passed through the placing hole (5) and when the user lifts the carrier (1) by holding the handle (6), the support plate (4) is stretched and the sides of the placing hole (5) compresses the can (K) from the middle. When the carrier (1) is loaded and carried, the point where the handle (6) and the support plate (4) joins is a point of rotation (DN) affected by the weight of the can (K) and the rotational movement created by the weight of the can (K) is balanced by the force exerted by the hand of the user.
- The carrier (1) of the present invention comprises a resting extension (7) that extends from the rear side of the base (2) towards the lateral side of the can (K) by being bent upwards and that enables the can (K) to be compressed from the lower side by pressing on the side surface of the can (K) in the position where the can (K) is seated on the base (2).
- In the carrier (1) of the present invention, the can (K) is compressed by the resting extension (7) when seated on the base (2) and a stress is formed on the resting extension (7). The reaction force formed by this stress at the point where the resting extension (7) and the base (2) joins, is transferred to the point of rotation (DN) along the base (2), the front wall (3) and the support plate (4) and a momentum is formed in the reverse direction to the momentum created by the weight of the can (K) on the point of rotation (DN). Thus, the rotational momentum originating from the weight of the can (K) is balanced and the user is enabled to balance the carrier (1) by exerting a lesser amount of force.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the resting extension (7) extends upwards in an inclined manner from the rear side of the base (2). In this embodiment, a two dimensional force is exerted on the can (K) to be carried, in the horizontal and vertical directions and the can (K) is prevented from being dislodged during the carrying operation.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the resting extension (7) extends vertically upwards from the rear side of the base (2). In this embodiment, the area where the can (K) and the resting extension (7) contact to each other is increased and the pressure exerted on the can (K) is decreased. Thus, the can (K) is prevented from being crushed and bent.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the side profile of the resting extension (7) is C-shaped. In this embodiment, the contact of the can (K) and the resting extension (7) is entirely in the horizontal plane and the magnitude of the tensile force is almost entirely equal to the magnitude of the reactive force formed at the base (2) since the tensile force created by compression of the can (K) does not have a component in the vertical direction.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the distance (D1) of the point (A1) where the resting extension (7) contacts the can (K) to the projection of the handle (6) in the vertical direction is greater than the distance (D2) of the closest point (A2) of the placing hole (5) to the projection of the handle (6) in the vertical direction. Thus, when the can (K) is placed into the carrier (1), maximum compression is provided and the magnitude of the reactive force formed at the base (2) is increased.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the width (G1) of the base (2) is smaller than the projection width (G2) of the support plate (4) in the horizontal plane. Thus, when the can (K) is placed into the carrier (1), a sufficient amount of gap/volume is created for the user to grasp the handle (6).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the placing hole (5) is circular.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the placing hole (5) is oval. Thus, the cans (K) with cylindrical bodies are enabled to be carried in the upright position on the inclined support plate (4).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the placing hole (5) is square. By this embodiment, for example carton milk or fruit juice cartons (K) having square cross-sections can be carried.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier (1) comprises one or more than one handle hole (8) that is arranged on the handle (6) and that enables the user to insert her/his fingers to lift the carrier (1) easily.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier (1) is produced as a single piece by bending a flexible material, for example plastic or aluminum sheet. With this embodiment, transfer of the forces formed at the resting extension (7) and the base (2) to the point of rotation (DN) is facilitated.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier (1) comprises a cooler (9) that is disposed inside the volume enclosed by the base (2), the front wall (3) and the support plate (4) and that enables the cans (K) to stay cool outside the cooling devices, for example the refrigerator by contacting the cans (K). With this embodiment, the cans (K) are enabled to be kept cool for a while even after being taken out of the refrigerator.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooler (9) is produced by using phase changing material.
- In the carrier (1) of the present invention, the users are enabled to carry the cans (K) by exerting a lesser amount of force in a balanced manner. The resting extension (7), while enabling the carried cans (K) to be compressed from below, also contributes to the balance by means of the reverse momentum provided by the reaction formed against the tensile force.
