Description
DESCRIPTION
"PORTABLE BATTERY CHARGING DEVICE"
Technical domain
The present application relates to a portable battery charging device.
Background
At a time when users do basically everything on their mobile devices, such as receiving and sending e-mails, reading news, working and accessing the most diverse applications, spending an afternoon with no access to their devices is hardly conceivable. It is a fact that mobile devices have problems related to the use of batteries and it is also a fact that there is no choice but to charge the devices as many times as necessary.
The company Mophie inc. sells an additional 2500 mAh battery which is integrated within a protective cover and charges the battery of the mobile device when coupled thereto. However, this solution only works for a specific type of device, due to not only the connection but also the shape of the protective cover.
US2013307464A1 discloses a portable charging device by means of which a mobile device may be charged, wherein the first may or not be connected to an external power source. However, the disclosed device is mainly focused on private use .
The company Incase sells a portable charging device designated Portable Power 5400 comprising: an internal 5400
mAH battery; a standard USB connecting cable plug for charging the internal battery of the portable charging device; and a standard USB receptacle to connect other devices in order to charge their respective batteries. The use of a single standard USB receptacle gives way to two highly troublesome restrictions towards external battery charging. Firstly, the user must have the connecting cable in order to carry out the charging procedure. Secondly, the connecting end of such cable must be a standard USB plug.
Summary
The present application discloses a portable charging device, comprising:
- a battery;
- two or more connecting cable plugs;
- an electronic circuit; and
one or more mechanisms for connecting cable retraction and extension.
In one embodiment, the battery of the device provides 3.7 V and 5600 mAH to terminals thereof.
In another embodiment, the device comprises:
- one or more standard USB connecting receptacles; and
- an outer casing.
In yet another embodiment, the device comprises a gauge printed circuit.
The present application further discloses the use of the above-described device, wherein said device is used in parallel for one or more devices.
The present application further discloses another use of the above-described device, wherein the device is used in parallel for two to five devices.
General Description
The present application arises from the need to provide a portable charging device for charging mobile device batteries without requiring any other connecting element, such as connecting cables or adapters.
In several business facilities, such as in any hotel, restaurant, coffee shop, airport, clinic, university, school, commercial store, private home or city hall, wireless Internet access is available for free to customers. However, if the client uses the service on his mobile device over a sufficient period of time to run out of battery, there is a need for such business to provide the customer with a way to charge the battery in order to prevent him from exiting the place due to not being able to further use the mobile device.
The simplest way of an entity offering battery charging possibilities is to provide or allow the use of electrical outlets in fixed location. However, this approach has drawbacks, such as not allowing the user to move around while the device's battery is being charged.
The portable charging device disclosed in the present application allows, in the first place, charging the battery of mobile devices in a portable way. Unlike mobile device charging using charging means connected to electrical outlets, the device herein disclosed allows the
user to move around while the device's battery is being charged .
Another approach is to provide a portable charging device comprising an internal battery for charging the battery of a mobile device.
The portable charging device disclosed in the present application, in addition to not implying mobility restrictions, allows a continuous use of mobile devices. Users may continue using their mobile devices without any interruption while they are charging.
The ease of use due to both mobility and uninterrupted use of the mobile devices, is nevertheless not enough to solve the problem of providing a portable charging device for charging batteries of mobile devices without requiring any other elements to do so, such as connecting cables or adapters. With a portable charging device having mainly those features, users are expected to have in their possession the specific connecting cables in order to charge their batteries. If users do not have said connecting cables, it becomes impossible to charge the batteries of the mobile devices, thus making prior art portable charging devices a useless investment in many cases .
A careless approach to the problem is based on purchasing multiple additional connecting cables or adapters, which implies increasing not only the investment amount so as to purchase all components, but also the complexity of use thereof. Implementing this approach creates even more problems, such as the mandatory definition of dispensing
and collecting locations where connecting cables may be appropriately exchanged, and the likelihood of such additional elements being stolen.
The portable charging device disclosed in the present application solves all said prior art problems. The device comprises :
a battery for charging multiple batteries in parallel ;
plug-fitted connecting cables for connecting and charging multiple devices; and
an electronic circuit to manage and handle the connection between the connecting cables and the battery .
Since comprising connecting cables, the portable charging device enables the provision of a portable charging way to charge the batteries of mobile devices, users not needing any other element and the entity providing the solution not having to incur any additional logistics costs.
In one embodiment, the device disclosed in the present application allows any space, where customers, consumers or users remain long enough to run out of their device's battery, to provide them with the possibility to charge their mobile device without any of the prior art limitations .
Finally, the device also enables, for example, the accessibility to a portable device to charge mobile devices in business establishments just as the later kindly provide wireless Internet services to their customers.

Description of the embodiments
Referring to the figures, some embodiments shall now be described in more detail, which are not however intended to limit the scope of the present application.
Figure 1 shows a top side view of one embodiment of the portable battery charging device for mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, showing the several elements in separate. The device comprises:
- a battery (2) with sufficient capacity to charge 5 devices in parallel with, for example, the specifications of 3.7 V and 5,600 mAh;
- connecting cables for conventional mobile devices, such as a 30-pin connecting cable (6) Lightning connecting cable (8) micro USB connecting cable (9) and mini USB connecting cable (10);
- standard USB connecting receptacles (11), so that the device may be used to charge other devices not covered by the connecting cables available, such as old mobile phones or other equipment;
an electronic circuit for the connection of the connecting cables to the battery; and
- an outer casing (3 and 7) .
The connecting cables enable the connection of several types of mobile devices. In one embodiment, and in order to facilitate the use thereof, the portable battery charging device comprises mechanisms for cable retraction and extension (5) comprising the terminals of the connecting cables for the mobile devices.
In one embodiment, the device signals the battery status by means of a gauge printed circuit (4) in three possible cases: no battery, battery charging, and battery charged.
