Description

The invention relates to a method of producing an arrangement for the electrically conductive connection of electrical conductors, in which a number of electrical contact elements are attached to a common support of electrically conductive metal and in which thereafter mating contacts are connected to the contact elements, each at the end an electrical conductor and to a device produced by the method ( EP 2 073 314 A1 ).

For example, an assembly made with such a method may be used to commonly connect at least two conductors of a harness for electrical appliances and automobiles to a common potential, such as "ground." Such a connection is usually via an electrical conductor, which is arranged together with other conductors in a holder. For the connection of all conductors, a metallic stamped grid with projections is mounted in a known technique, for example in a housing consisting of insulating material, on which plug contacts of all conductors can be plugged.

From the US 2007/0202753 A1 goes out a connector for electrical conductors, in which a number of sockets are provided in a first holder and a corresponding number of connector pins in a second holder. Both holders are housed in working position in a housing. The second holder is designed as a circuit board with conductor tracks, in which the connector pins are pressed. The plug pins are electrically conductively connected to each other according to a predetermined pattern in different numbers by each separate interconnects. This connector is complicated and can be handled only with great effort.

The known method according to the above-mentioned EP 2 073 314 A1 and the arrangement made with it are simpler. The arrangement serves for the electrically conductive connection of ladder-equipped conductors with mating contacts, which are arranged in a connector made of insulating material. In the connector there is a circuit board with a conductor track in which plug pins for attaching the plug contacts are mounted as mating contacts. The cross-section of the plug pins designed as press-in contacts is adapted to the electrically conductive cross section of the respective conductor to be connected or to their plug contacts.

The invention has for its object to simplify the above-described method and the corresponding arrangement on.

This object is achieved according to the invention characterized
  • that initially a strip-shaped support of great length is produced, in the production of which webs are formed at a distance from one another such that they protrude from the same at least on one side edge thereof,
  • that the webs of the carrier are formed into the contact elements,
  • that is subsequently separated from the carrier, a portion of predetermined length with a predetermined number of contact elements and
  • that finally the mating contacts are connected to the contact elements of the section.

This method is easily feasible without significant mechanical effort and without additional manual work. It can be carried out fully automatically with advantage. A finished arrangement with electrical conductors connected to the contact elements of the respective section of a strip is a compact component of relatively small dimensions. For this reason, for example, it can be integrated into a cable harness consisting of a large number of conductors or lines without its dimensions being substantially increased.

The carrier is punched out, for example, in a continuous pass in so-called continuous production from a wider sheet metal. In this case, the contact elements are formed on at least one side edge of the carrier at the same time with advantage. The contact elements may be, for example, and advantageously pins or sockets. They have a predeterminable distance from one another in the direction of the carrier and protrude sideways from the same at least on one side edge of the carrier. It is also possible to form such contact elements on both side edges of the carrier.

A carrier produced by this method can be directly fed to further processing. But it can also be wound up with advantage on a spool whose winding space determines the length of the wearer. The carrier can then be easily transported to another location for further processing and withdrawn there from the spool.

For further processing, a section of predetermined length, which has a predetermined number of contact elements, is cut off from an "endless" carrier to produce the device. This can then be done directly to the punching process. Advantageously, however - as mentioned - the carrier deducted from a coil.

To the contact elements of a portion of the carrier mating contacts are connected, which are each attached to the end of an electrical conductor. In the above sense, the mating contacts can be jacks or pins. Both the separation of sections from the carrier and the connection of the mating contacts to the contact elements can be carried out fully automatically.

The carrier consists of a highly electrically conductive material. This may advantageously be copper or a copper alloy or brass. Its width may preferably be between 1.5 mm and 3.0 mm. The carrier may advantageously be about 0.3 mm thick.

The method according to the invention and the same producible arrangement will be explained with reference to the drawings in embodiments.

  • Fig. 3 eine Spule mit aufgewickeltem Träger.
Show it:

  • Fig. 3 a spool with wound up carrier.
  • Fig. 4 also schematically an arrangement according to the invention.

In Fig. 1 a part of a strip-shaped carrier 1 is shown, which consists of a highly electrically conductive metal, preferably of a copper alloy. The carrier 1 is produced in a continuous process by punching from a wider sheet. In the punching process are at a distance from each other, from a side edge 2 of the carrier 1 projecting short webs 3 generated. They are formed into electrical contact elements during the current process, either into pins or sockets. The contact elements are shaped in the finished state that mating contacts can be plugged for the preparation of an electrical connection, which are designed either as sockets or as pins.

According to Fig. 2 The webs 3 can also be formed on both side edges 2 and 4 of the carrier 1, which can also be formed as electrical contact elements.

The corresponding to the Fig. 1 and 2 finished "endless" carrier 1 can be fed directly to another processing. He can but according to Fig. 3 initially wound on a spool 5 and transported to a place where further processing can be performed. The winding space of the spool 5 determines the length of the carrier 1 which can be wound up on it Fig. 3 the carrier 1 is shown without webs 3 for the sake of simplicity.

For a further processing of the carrier 1 for the preparation of the arrangement according to the invention, an in Fig. 4 shown section 6 separated from the carrier 1, the has a given length. This length depends on the number of contact elements that are needed for a finished arrangement.

Section 6 after Fig. 4 has four located at the positions of webs 3 contact elements to which mating contacts are connected, which are respectively mounted at the end of an electrical conductor 7 and 8 respectively. The electrical connection between a pin and a socket is known in principle. In Fig. 4 are therefore located at the respective junctions only borders 9.

The arrangement after Fig. 4 is, for example, a so-called usable in a motor vehicle potential distributor, with which the guided by the conductor 8 potential is divided into the three conductors 7. The conductors 7 are then connected by the electrically conductive connection with the portion 6 of the carrier 1 via the conductor 8 to a common potential, for example to ground.
