Description

    Technical Field of the Invention
  • The present invention is related to a rifle adapter bracket mechanism that has been developed to overcome the problems such as the need to use different brackets which have been developed for the present rifles of MG3, A4, A6 and BİXİ, the need to configure a separate rifle for each rifle bracket, and to avoid the problems (not having extra rifle brackets, for the rifle bracket changes to be difficult and takes long time etc) created in connection with a single rifle bracket being present on a vehicle when a different rifle needs to be used and to ensure the efficient usage of different types of rifles by using a single rifle adapter bracket for all types of rifles.
  • State of the Art (Prior Art)
  • Different types of rifle usage are needed according to their defence types in vehicles having different rifles, used for defence purposes, mounted on top. The usage of different rifle types is directly related with rifle brackets. Due to this reason, for many years studies have been carried out to enable the usage of the said brackets for different types of rifles.
  • Nowadays, rifle rigs located on vehicles are fixed onto the vehicle by means of a bracket. Said rifle bracket enables the usage of the rifle after it is fixed to the vehicle. Each rifle has its distinctive bracket. And each different rifle has different coupling means that allow the rifle to be coupled to the bracket. The rifle bracket varieties that are present commercially do not have the design characteristics that can fulfil the expectations of customers. Moreover, in the case that a different type of rifle is desired to be used for defence during any kind of operation in defence vehicles, the rifle bracket that is being used at that moment also needs to be changed.
  • Furthermore it is both more expensive to keep different types of brackets for different types of rifles within the vehicle and also as they will consume space inside the vehicle, it is desirable to have a bracket designed such that it can be commonly used for different types of rifles. The aim in doing so, is to overcome the negative conditions that may arise such as ergonomic problems, and increase in costs and space consumption. Due to this a single type of rifle bracket has been obtained as desired by the customers by means of an adapter bracket mechanism that is to be mounted on the rifle bracket, thereby allowing the usage of different types of rifles with the same bracket in a vehicle.
  • In the inventions subject to the applications numbered GB 2493363 A2 and US 20120180643 A1 within the known state of the art, mechanisms relating to adjustable rifle brackets that can be mounted on vehicles have been described. In these inventions, the rifle is fixed onto the vehicle. And said inventions are related to enabling the lateral movement of the rifle fixed onto the vehicles and for the user to be able to carry out operations at different angles. The mechanisms that are being described above, are not mechanisms that allow different types of rifles to be used in a single bracket. According to these applications the rifle brackets are produced to hold a single type of rifle, whereas nowadays this type of bracket is unsatisfactory as it cannot be used with multiple rifles during defence operations. The invention described in detail below is related to a single bracket which enables the fixing of different types of rifles on vehicles, by means of an additional adapter bracket mechanism. US2870683 , which forms a basis for the claim, discloses a rifle adaptor bracket mechanism for mounting a rifle on a vehicle comprising a fixing leg, a coupling leg that can rotate 360° in a horizontal plane relative to the fixing leg, a first bracket rotatably mounted on the coupling leg so that the first bracket can rotate in a vertical plane relative to the coupling leg, an adjustable rifle bracket mounted on the first bracket for supporting and holding a rifle, a dismantling latch, a fixing pin, an adjustable mobile pin, said fixed pin and said mobike pin cooperating to mount rifles of different widths. This document does not disclose a fixing leg fixed to a vehicle and a mechanism that includes adjustable cabin impact protector. Present invention allows assembly and disassembly of the adjustable rifle bracket relative to the first bracket and height adjusting mechanism enables fixating of a rifle in the adjustable rifle bracket.
  • The Aim and Brief Description of the Invention
  • The aim of the invention is to enable the usage of different types of rifles by means of using an additional adapter mechanism attached to a fixed rifle bracket without the necessity to use a different rifle bracket each time for different types of rifles that are mounted on vehicles. The rifle adapter bracket mechanism of the invention is defined in claim 1.
  • Definitions of the Figures Describing the Invention

    • Figure 1: The rear perspective view of the adapter bracket that is a novel design
    • Figure 2: The perspective view from the front of the adapter bracket that is a novel design
Definitions of the Aspects/Parts/Sections Forming the Invention
  • In order to be able to further explain the adapter mechanism developed according to the present invention the aspects, parts and section shown in the figures have each been numbered and the references of each number has been provided below.

    Detailed Description of the Invention
  • The invention subject to the application provides the usage of a single fixed bracket for different rifles to be used during operational applications used for defence purposes by means of attaching an additional adapter bracket mechanism.
  • Nowadays as the rifle brackets on the vehicles is different for each different rifle, and as different types of rifles cannot be used when desired with a single bracket and the obligation to keep different rifle brackets in order to use different rifles this situation is costly and also not practical. These problems are avoided by means of the present invention.
  • The front face and the rear face views of the adapter bracket that has been designed as a new design and described with the present invention have been shown in Figure 1 and figure 2. The coupling leg (2) that is attached onto the vehicle fixing leg (1) in this invention has been designed such that it can rotate 360° in order to provide defence against attacks from different directions. The cabin impact protector (5) that has been attached to the coupling leg (2)has been designed with a corresponding part in order to overcome the risk of lowering down of the barrel of the rifle in an uncontrolled manner and in return the danger of an impact to the cabin. Due to the adjusted structure of the cabin impact protector, the rifle brackets can be mounted into vehicles safely. MG3 rifle bracket (3) has been mounted on the coupling leg (2). The characteristic of the MG3 rifle bracket herein, is that it has both been produced in order to couple the MG3 rifle and that it can act as the main bracket for the adjustable rifle bracket (4) In order to make the disassembly easier following the mounting of the adjustable rifle bracket (4) to the MG3 rifle bracket (2) a special bracket and a rifle disassembly latch (6) has been used. The adjustable rifle bracket (4) has been designed in order to allow the mounting of rifles having different sizes. A fixed pin (7) is found on the adjustable rifle bracket (4), that allows the mounting of different rifles having different coupling diameters. The fixed pin (7) and the mobile pin (8) which is concentric with the fixed pin, has been designed to be adjusted when mounting rifles with different widths. The adjustable mobile pin (8) is locked after the adjusting procedure is carried out. The height of the rifle is adjusted by means of an adjustable fixing plate (9) that enables the fixing and the elevation of the rifle after the rifle has been coupled to the bracket.
  • By means of the invention, the usage of a single rifle bracket has been provided for mounting rifles with different coupling diameters, different widths and heights in order to mount said rifles without any problems onto different vehicles.
