Description

    A DISHWASHER
  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising an automatic door opening mechanism.
  • In dishwashers, the drying process is performed after the washing process. In some embodiments, at the end of the washing and drying processes, the door of the dishwasher can be partially opened automatically, the hot vapor inside is discharged to the outer environment and the washed items are enabled to dry faster. In dishwashers wherein the door is partially opened automatically at the end of the washing and drying processes, applying lower temperatures in the drying process is sufficient and thus, energy is saved. Opening of the dishwasher door automatically, furthermore, prevents the vapor getting cold from condensing and leaving stains on the washed items. In the state of the art, in order that the door is opened automatically, door opening mechanisms are used that extend from the body towards the door and enable the door to be partially opened by pushing the door by the activation of the devices such as solenoid motor or electric motor. In some of the said door opening mechanisms, the member that opens the door retreats after the door is opened and the hinge system of the door keeps the door in the ajar position. The hinge systems used for balancing the door in the ajar position cannot balance the door when doors with variable weights are used and the automatic door opening mechanism becomes dysfunctional. Using different hinge systems for doors with variable weights becomes necessary and this situation increases production costs.
  • In the Patent Application No. WO2013098327, a dishwasher comprising a door locking mechanism is disclosed.
  • In the Patent Application No. WO2013098245, a dishwasher comprising an automatic door opening mechanism is disclosed.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the door is enabled to be kept in the half-open position at the end of the washing process.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a hinge system that enables the door to be fastened to the body and to move, an automatic door opening mechanism that enables the door to be opened at the end of the washing process, at least one embossment provided on the hinge system and at least one pin that enables the door to remain in the ajar position by being seated into the embossment when the door is opened by the automatic door opening mechanism. At the end of the washing process, the automatic door opening mechanism pushes and opens the door in an amount that allows steam discharge and the pin is seated into the embossment. The pin seated into the embossment keeps the door in the open position and prevents the door from closing or from entirely opening due to its weight. The user can enable the pin to be dislodged from the embossment by applying force and thus open/close the door as desired.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the embossment is provided on a plate and the pin is provided on an arm. By means of the embossment being placed on the plate having a flat surface, ease of production is provided.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the embossment is provided on the arm and the pin is provided on the plate.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the hinge system comprises one embossment and more than one pin positioned equidistantly on an arc which defines the rotation line of the hinge system. In this embodiment, the pins, which are arranged on a circle such that the center thereof forms the rotation point, are seated into the embossment and thus enable the door to remain in the open position in steps. While the automatic door opening mechanism opens the door or the user opens/closes the door, the pins are seated into the embossment respectively and the door is kept in the desired position at certain intervals. In this embodiment, the number of the pins required to be used depends on the number of positions the door is desired to be kept in, for instance if the door is desired to be kept in four different positions including the partially open position, four pins are used which align with the embossment in those positions.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the hinge system comprises more than one embossment and one pin. The user can change the pin and the embossment that align with each other by changing the setting of the door opening mechanism and thus the door is enabled to remain in a balanced position at different angles at the end of the washing process.
  • In the dishwasher of the present invention, the door is enabled to be balanced in the ajar position by means of the embossment provided on the hinge system and the pin that seats into the embossment. The embossment and the pin of the present invention can be used also for keeping the door fixed in various positions.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 – is the sideways schematic view of a dishwasher.
  • Figure 2 – is the sideways schematic view of a dishwasher the door of which is open.
  • Figure 3 – is the sideways view of a hinge system.
  • Figure 4 – is the cross-sectional view of a pin seated into an embossment.
  • The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
  • 1. Dishwasher
  • 2. Body
  • 3. Door
  • 4. Hinge system
  • 5. Plate
  • 6. Arm
  • 7. Automatic door opening mechanism
  • 8. Embossment
  • 9. Pin
  • The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a body (2), a door (3) that provides access into the body (2), a hinge system (4) comprising at least one plate (5) and at least one arm (6) and that enables the door (3) to be fastened to the body (2) and to move, and an automatic door opening mechanism (7) that enables the door (3) to be automatically opened for enabling the vapor to be discharged to the outer environment at the end of the washing process.
  • In the dishwasher (1), the automatic door opening mechanism (7) opens the door (3) after the washing process. By means of the hinge system (4), the door (3) can be opened/closed being connected to the body (2).
  • The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises at least one embossment (8) provided on the hinge system (4) and at least one pin (9) that enables the door (3) to remain in the open position by being seated into the embossment (8) when the door (3) is opened by the automatic door opening mechanism (7). When the automatic door opening mechanism (7) opens the door (3) with an angle, for example with a 5 or 10 degree angle, predetermined by the manufacturer, the pin (9) is aligned with the embossment (8) and enables the door (3) to remain the open position by being seated into the embossment (8). When seated into the embossment (8), the pin (9) balances the weight of the door (3) and the door (3) remains in the open position unless an additional force is applied by the user. The user can open/close the door (3) by applying force and thus easily taking out the pin (9) from the embossment (8) when desired.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the embossment (8) is provided on the plate (5) and the pin (9) is provided on the arm (6). Since the plate (5) has a wider surface with respect to the arm (6), forming the embossment (8) on the plate (5) provides ease of production.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the embossment (8) is provided on the arm (6) and the pin (9) is provided on the plate (5).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, one embossment (8) and more than one pin (9) each being positioned on an arc consecutively and equidistantly to the rotation point of the hinge system are provided on the hinge system (4). By means of the pins (9) positioned so as to correspond to the open positions of the door (3) at different angles, the door (3) is enabled to be kept in more than one open position. In this embodiment, the user enables different pins (9) to be seated into the embossment (8) by changing the setting of the automatic door opening mechanism (7) and the door (3) is enabled to remain in the desired position at the end of the washing process.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, one pin (9) and more than one embossment (8) each being positioned on an arc consecutively and equidistantly to the rotation point of the hinge system are provided on the hinge system (4). When the door (3) is moved, the pin (9) gets out of one embossment (8) and is seated into another embossment (8) and thus the door (3) is kept in the desired position.
  • In the dishwasher (1) of the present invention, when the door (3) is opened by the automatic door opening mechanism (7) at the end of the washing process in a simple and low cost manner, the hinge system (4) is enabled to balance the door (3) in a slightly open position even if doors (3) having different weights are used.
