Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a cooker comprising a cast iron burner plate.
- Nowadays, the burner plate that is situated at the upper surface of the cooker and whereon the burner and the grill are positioned, are produced from easily moldable sheet metal. When the burner plate is produced by casting method, problems arise about the mounting of the burner. It becomes difficult to connect the burner to the burner plate and need for designing a new burner arises. Because, the diameter of the hole on the cast iron burner plate wherein the burner is mounted becomes larger than the burner diameter due to inaccurate tolerances, causing liquids to leak between the burner plate and the burner.
- In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US6170479, a spring element is disclosed, that is disposed below the cooking surface and that fixes the burner to its place.
- In the state of the art Great Britain Patent Application No. GB481578, a cooker comprising a cast iron burner plate is disclosed.
- The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooker wherein the mounting process of the burner to the cast iron burner plate is facilitated.
- The cooker realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a circular connection plate that is produced from sheet metal, that has a hole at the center thereof, that is mounted to the lower surface of the burner housing below the burner plate so that the opening and the hole coincide, the burner being fixed to the edge of the hole. Thus, eccentricities and diameter differences arising from the production of the opening on the cast iron burner plate wherein the burner is mounted, can be tolerated by means of the connection plate.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection plate comprises a burner connection surface surrounding the hole, a flange surrounding the burner connection surface and a lateral wall joining the burner connection surface and the flange.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection plate is mounted to the underside of the burner housing with screws.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooker comprises at least one protrusion that is situated on the lower surface of the burner housing, in the vicinity of the opening and at least one drawn part that is situated on the flange of the connection plate and that is seated onto the protrusion. While the connection plate is mounted to the burner plate, the drawn parts seated onto the protrusions are fixed with the screws. Thus, the connection plate is prevented from rotating during assembly and the screws are prevented from piercing through the cast iron burner plate and becoming visible.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the protrusions and the drawn parts are elliptical. Thus, the strength of the connection plate mounted to the burner plate is improved.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooker comprises a centering pin that is situated on the burner plate, at the edge of the opening and a centering hole that is arranged on the connection plate and wherein the centering pin is inserted. Thus, the protrusions and the drawn parts are overlapped so as to provide a proper centering.
- By means of the present invention, a cooker is realized, comprising a connection plate that facilitates the mounting of the burner to the cast iron burner plate. The protrusion situated on the lower surface of the burner housing, in the vicinity of the opening prevents the screw from piercing through the burner plate surface while the connection plate is mounted to the lower surface of the burner housing. Moreover, the centering pin situated on the lower surface of the burner housing enables the connection plate to be centered to the burner connection surface.
- A cooker realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1. is the perspective view of a cooker.
Figure 2. is the view of a burner plate, a burner and a connection plate.
Figure 3. is the top perspective view of the burner plate when the connection plate is mounted to the burner plate.
Figure 4. is the bottom perspective view of the burner plate when the connection plate is mounted to the burner plate.
Figure 5. is the cross-sectional view of the burner plate when the connection plate is mounted to the burner plate. - The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
- Cooker
- Burner plate
- Opening
- Burner housing
- Burner
- Connection plate
- Hole
- Burner connection surface
- Flange
- Lateral wall
- Protrusion
- Drawn part
- Centering pin
- The following symbols are used for explicating the cooker (1) of the present invention:
- F: Screw
- The cooker (1) comprises a cast iron burner plate (2), at least one burner housing (4) that is situated on the burner plate (2) and that comprises an opening (3) at the center thereof and at least one burner (5) that is placed into the opening (3) (Figure 1, Figure 2).
- The cooker (1) of the present invention comprises a circular connection plate (6) that is produced from sheet metal, that has a hole (7) at the center thereof, that is mounted to the lower surface of the burner housing (4) below the burner plate (2) so that the opening (3) and the hole (7) coincide, the burner (5) being fixed to the edge of the hole (7). Thus, eccentricities and diameter differences arising from the production of the opening (3) on the cast iron burner plate (2) wherein the burner (5) is mounted, can be tolerated by means of the connection plate (6) that is an additional component produced from sheet metal, and production costs are decreased (Figure 2).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection plate (6) comprises a burner connection surface (8) surrounding the hole (7), a flange (9) surrounding the burner connection surface (8) and a lateral wall (10) joining the burner connection surface (8) and the flange (9) (Figure 2, Figure 3).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection plate (6) is mounted to the underside of the burner housing (4) with screws (F) (Figure 2).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooker (1) comprises at least one protrusion (11) that is situated on the lower surface of the burner housing (4), in the vicinity of the opening (3) and at least one drawn part (12) that is situated on the flange (9) of the connection plate (6) and that is seated onto the protrusion (11). While the connection plate (6) is mounted to the burner plate (2), the drawn parts (12) seated onto the protrusions (11) are fixed with the screws (F). Thus, when the connection plate (6) is mounted under the burner housing (4) with the screws (F), the screw (F) ends remain inside the protrusions (11) and the screws (F) are prevented from piercing through the upper surface of the burner plate (2) and from becoming visible (Figure 2, Figure 4, Figure 5).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the protrusions (11) and the drawn parts (12) are elliptical. Thus, the strength of the connection plate (6) mounted to the burner plate (2) is improved (Figure 5).
- In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooker (1) comprises a centering pin (13) that is situated on the burner plate (2), at the edge of the opening (3) and a centering hole (not shown in the figures) that is arranged on the connection plate (6) and wherein the centering pin (13) is inserted. Thus, the protrusions (11) and the drawn parts (12) are overlapped so as to provide a proper centering and the connection plate (6) is enabled to be properly mounted to the burner plate (2) by seating each drawn part (12) onto the corresponding protrusion (11) (Figure 2, Figure 4, Figure 5).
- By means of the present invention, a cooker (1) is realized, comprising a connection plate (6) that facilitates the mounting of the burner (5) to the burner plate (2). The protrusion (11) situated on the lower surface of the burner housing (4), in the vicinity of the opening (3) prevents the screw (F) from piercing through the burner plate (2) surface while the connection plate (6) is mounted to the lower surface of the burner housing (4). Moreover, the centering pin (13) situated on the lower surface of the burner housing (4) enables the connection plate (6) to be centered to the burner connection surface (8), thus the connection plate (6) is more easily mounted to the lower surface of the burner housing (4). Diameter differences between the burner (5) and the opening (3) can be tolerated by means of the connection plate (6) and leak-proofing is provided by covering the gap that may occur between the burner (5) with a smaller diameter and the opening (3) with a larger diameter (3) by means of the connection plate (6).
