Description

VERRE DE PROTECTION ANTIBACTERIEN POUR ECRAN DE DISPOSITIF ELECTRONIQUE
L' invention se rapporte au domaine des verres de protection pour écrans de dispositifs électroniques.
Les dispositifs électroniques, notamment de poche ou portables, tel que par exemple téléphone intelligent, assistant numérique personnel, appareil photo numérique, lecteur multimédia, liseuse (livre électronique) , ordinateur, tablette, télévision, billetterie automatique, guichet automatique bancaire, caisse automatique, écran intégré dans l'ameublement, l'électroménager ou les tableaux de bord de véhicules, etc. comprennent des écrans, parfois tactiles, protégés par des verres de protection. Les verres de protections utilisés dans de tels dispositifs ou applications sont susceptibles d'être fortement sollicités d'un point de vue mécanique : contacts répétés avec des objets durs et pointus, impacts de projectiles, chutes... Pour augmenter leur résistance aux chocs, il est connu de créer une zone superficielle en compression et une zone centrale en tension, par des procédés de trempe thermique ou d'échange ionique (que l'on appelle parfois « trempe chimique ») . Dans ce dernier cas, la substitution superficielle d'un ion de la feuille de verre (généralement un ion alcalin tel que le sodium) par un ion de rayon ionique plus grand (généralement un ion alcalin, tel que le potassium) permet de créer en surface de la feuille de verre des contraintes résiduelles de compression, jusqu'à une certaine profondeur. Dans l'ensemble du texte, une profondeur correspond, selon une coupe transversale, à une distance entre un point considéré et la surface de la feuille de verre la plus proche, mesurée selon une normale à ladite surface. De même, dans toute la suite du texte, les contraintes sont parallèles à la surface de la feuille de verre, et sont des contraintes d'épaisseur, au sens où, exception faite des zones de bord, la moyenne des contraintes sur toute l'épaisseur de la feuille de verre est nulle. Les contraintes superficielles en compression sont en effet équilibrées par la présence d'une zone centrale en tension. Il existe donc une certaine profondeur à laquelle se produit la transition entre compression et tension. Le profil de contrainte correspond au tracé de la contrainte (qu'elle soit de compression ou de tension) selon une coupe transversale en fonction de la distance à une des faces de la feuille de verre, mesurée selon une normale à ladite face.
Un autre problème se pose, particulièrement lorsque les écrans sont tactiles : celui de la prolifération bactérienne. Les bactéries peuvent en effet s'accrocher à la surface des verres de protection et être transmises aux différents utilisateurs des dispositifs précités. Les dispositifs électroniques tactiles se révèlent alors de puissants vecteurs de transmission bactérienne.
Pour résoudre ce problème, il a été récemment proposé de faire diffuser des ions argent (Ag+) dans les couches superficielles du verre, et notamment dans la zone superficielle en compression précitée. L'argent est en effet un bactéricide puissant. Cette diffusion est pratiquée par un échange ionique tel que celui employé pour renforcer mécaniquement le verre. Le verre de protection subit alors un double échange ionique.
La demande US 2012/0034435 décrit par exemple l'échange ionique de verres du type aluminosilicate de sodium à la fois par des ions alcalins et par des ions argent. Il est toutefois précisé qu'un échange en deux étapes est nécessaire car lorsque le verre est plongé dans un bain mixte contenant à la fois des ions alcalins (pour le renforcement mécanique) et des ions argent (pour l'action antibactérienne), les temps et températures d'échange nécessaires pour atteindre des concentrations efficaces en argent entraînent un jaunissement rédhibitoire du verre. Ainsi, le verre est d'abord échangé dans un bain contenant un sel d'alcalin, puis échangé très rapidement dans un bain contenant un sel d'argent afin d'éviter tout j aunissement .
La demande US 2012/0219792 décrit un échange en deux étapes d'un verre aluminosilicate de sodium, d'abord dans un bain de KNO3, puis à l'aide d'un film d'argent déposé à la surface du verre.
L' invention a pour but de proposer un verre permettant un procédé d'échange plus simple, en une seule étape, en évitant néanmoins tout jaunissement. A cet effet, l'invention a pour objet un verre de protection antibactérien pour écran de dispositif électronique dont la composition est du type aluminosilicate de lithium, possédant une zone superficielle en compression obtenue par échange ionique, ladite zone superficielle comprenant en outre des ions argent .
L'invention a aussi pour objet un dispositif électronique, notamment de poche ou portable, tel que notamment téléphone intelligent, assistant numérique personnel, appareil photo numérique, lecteur multimédia, liseuse, ordinateur, tablette, télévision, billetterie automatique, guichet automatique bancaire, caisse automatique, écran intégré dans l'ameublement, l'électroménager ou les tableaux de bord de véhicules, comprenant au moins écran, notamment tactile, protégé par un verre de protection selon l'invention. Les inventeurs ont pu mettre en évidence qu'un verre du type aluminosilicate de lithium pouvait être échangé en une seule étape à la fois par des ions alcalins (autres que le lithium) et par des ions argent, échange conduisant à des concentrations efficaces en argent dans la zone superficielle en compression et donc à d'excellentes propriétés antibactériennes, et ne présenter aucun jaunissement appréciable, à l'inverse des verres connus cités dans les demandes susmentionnées.
Le verre de protection selon l'invention possède de préférence l'une au moins des caractéristiques ci-après définies, ou plusieurs de ces caractéristiques, selon toutes combinaisons possibles :
L'épaisseur du verre de protection est de préférence d'au plus 2 mm, notamment d'au plus 1,5 mm et d'au moins 0,1, notamment 0,25 mm. Les dimensions latérales du verre de protection dépendent évidemment de l'utilisation visée. Dans le cas des dispositifs de poche ou portables, au moins une dimension est généralement inférieure ou égale à 40 cm, notamment 30 cm, voire 20 cm. - L'épaisseur de la zone superficielle en compression est de préférence d'au moins 20 micromètres, notamment 25 micromètres, et d'au plus 200 micromètres, notamment 100 micromètres. La méthode de mesure de cette épaisseur est détaillée dans la partie de la description consacrée aux exemples.
La contrainte de surface en compression est de préférence d'au moins 300 MPa, notamment 400 MPa pour obtenir un excellent renforcement mécanique. Elle est de préférence d'au plus 800 MPa, afin d'éviter le risque de fragmentation du verre.
La zone superficielle en compression est de préférence obtenue par échange ionique à l'aide d'ions sodium ou d'ions potassium.
La concentration superficielle en ions argent dans la zone superficielle en compression est de préférence d'au moins 0,005 yg/cm2, notamment 0,01 yg/cm2 et même 0,015 yg/cm2 ou 0,02 yg/cm2. De telles concentrations permettent d'obtenir d'excellentes propriétés antibactériennes. La concentration superficielle en ions argent peut être ajustée en modifiant la concentration en ions argent dans le bain d'échange, la température et le temps d'échange. Comme démontré dans la suite du texte, des activités antimicrobiennes d' au moins 3 sont obtenues pour les souches Staphylococcus aureus et Escherichia Coll. L'activité antimicrobienne correspond au logarithme décimal de la quantité de bactéries restant après test sur un verre témoin, dépourvu de traitement antibactérien, rapportée à la quantité de bactéries restant après test sur le verre. Plus de détails sur le test utilisé seront donnés dans la partie destinée à la description des exemples.
Le rapport T1/T2 entre la transmission optique à une longueur d'onde de 430 nm (Tl) et la transmission optique à une longueur d'onde de 650 nm (T2) est de préférence d'au moins 0,95, notamment 0,97, et même 0,98. Cette grandeur témoigne de l'absence de jaunissement car les colloïdes d'argent responsables du jaunissement absorbent autour de 430 nm.
L'indice de jaune au sens de la norme ASTM E313, autre grandeur permettant de caractériser le jaunissement, est de préférence d'au plus 2,0, notamment 1,5, et même 1,0 ou 0,6.
La composition chimique du verre de protection selon l'invention comprend de préférence les oxydes suivants dans les gammes de teneurs pondérales ci-après définies :
Si02 50-80%
A1203 12-30%
Li20 1-10%.
La teneur pondérale en CaO est avantageusement d' au plus 3%, notamment 1%.
Une composition chimique particulièrement préférée comprend (ou consiste essentiellement en) les oxydes suivants dans les gammes de teneurs pondérales ci-après définies :
Si02 52-75 %, notamment 65-72%
AI2O3 15-27 %, notamment 18-24%
Li20 2-10% , notamment 2,5 3 , 8 ~6
Na20 0-1%, notamment 0-0,8%
K20 0-5%, notamment 0-1%

ZnO 0-5%, notamment 1, 2—2, 8%
MgO 0-5%, notamment 0, 55-1, 5%

L'expression « consiste essentiellement en » doit être comprise en ce sens que les oxydes précités constituent au moins 96%, voire 98% du poids du verre. La composition comprend usuellement des additifs servant à l'affinage du verre voire à la coloration du verre. Les agents d'affinage sont typiquement choisis parmi les oxydes d'arsenic, d'antimoine, d'étain, de cérium, les halogènes, les sulfures métalliques, notamment le sulfure de zinc. La teneur pondérale en agents d' affinage est normalement d' au plus 1%, de préférence entre 0,1 et 0,6%. Les agents de coloration sont l'oxyde de fer, présent comme impureté dans la plupart des matières premières, l'oxyde de cobalt, de chrome, de cuivre, de vanadium, de nickel, le sélénium. Compte tenu des hauts niveaux de transparence normalement visés, le verre de protection ne contient de préférence pas d'agent de coloration autre que l'oxyde de fer, lequel est avantageusement présent en une teneur ne dépassant pas 0,1%, notamment 0,05%. La composition chimique du verre est celle au cœur du verre, en dehors de la zone affectée par l'échange ionique.
L'invention a aussi pour objet un procédé d'obtention d'un verre de protection selon l'invention, comprenant une seule étape d'échange ionique dans laquelle le verre du type aluminosilicate de lithium est simultanément mis en contact avec au moins un sel d' ion alcalin autre que le lithium et au moins un sel d'argent.
Une température élevée, mais en-dessous de la température de transition vitreuse du verre à traiter, permet d'amorcer un phénomène d' interdiffusion, impactant d'abord les couches superficielles du verre.
La mise en contact du verre avec les sels d' ion alcalin et d'argent est de préférence réalisée en plongeant le verre dans un bain comprenant lesdits sels à l'état fondu. Le bain est de préférence constitué d'un sel d'ion alcalin et d'un sel d'argent. Le sel d'alcalin est de préférence un sel de sodium, notamment le nitrate de sodium. D'autres sels utilisables sont notamment le sulfate ou le chlorure de sodium. Alternativement, le bain peut aussi comprendre un sel de potassium, ou encore un mélange de sels de sodium et de potassium. Le sel d'argent est de préférence le nitrate d'argent. La concentration en sel d'argent dans le bain est de préférence d'au moins 1%, notamment 3% ou 5%, voire 6% ou même 8 ou 10% en poids. Elle est de préférence d'au plus 20%.
La température de mise en contact est de préférence d'au moins 250°C, notamment 300°C et même 330°C. Elle est de préférence d'au plus 500°C, notamment 400°C. Le temps de mise en contact est de préférence d'au moins 1 heure, notamment 2 heures, voire 3 heures.
De préférence, la mise en contact du verre avec les sels d'ion alcalin et d'argent est réalisée en plongeant le verre dans un bain comprenant lesdits sels à l'état fondu, à une température d'au moins 250°C pendant une durée d'au moins 1 heure, la concentration en sel d'argent dans ledit bain étant d'au moins 3% en poids.
La mise en contact du sel d' ion alcalin et du sel d'argent avec le verre peut également être réalisée au moyen d'une pâte contenant lesdits ions, déposée à la surface du verre. L'échange ionique peut aussi être facilité en imposant un champ électrique ou des ultrasons.
Avant l'étape d'échange ionique, le verre de protection est obtenu à la suite d'étapes de fusion du verre, de formage, et de découpe.
L'étape de formage peut être réalisée par différents procédés par ailleurs connus, tels que le procédé de flottage, dans lequel le verre fondu est déversé sur un bain d' étain en fusion, le laminage entre deux rouleaux, le procédé dit de « fusion-draw », dans lequel le verre fondu déborde d'un canal et vient former une feuille par gravité, ou encore le procédé dit « down-draw » dans lequel le verre fondu s'écoule vers le bas par une fente, avant d'être étiré à l'épaisseur voulue et simultanément refroidi. L'étape de découpe est avantageusement suivie d'une étape de façonnage ou de polissage des bords et/ou de la surface, avant l'étape d'échange ionique.
Les exemples non limitatifs qui suivent illustrent la présente invention.
Des échantillons de verre de 1 mm d'épaisseur et possédant les compositions pondérales indiquées au tableau 1 ont été produits par des méthodes connues.
Tableau 1 Le verre C est un exemple comparatif. Il s'agit d'un verre du type aluminosilicate de sodium du type de ceux décrits dans les demandes US 2012/0034435 et US 2012/0219792 précitées. Les verres 1 à 3 sont des verres selon l'invention, du type aluminosilicate de lithium.
Les verres selon l'invention ont ensuite été soumis à un échange ionique dans un bain constitué de nitrate de sodium et de nitrate d'argent fondus, à une température de 340°C pendant 3 heures. Pour le verre comparatif, le sel alcalin est le nitrate de potassium. Trois concentrations en nitrate d'argent ont été testées : 5, 10 et 15% en poids .
Le tableau 2 ci-après récapitule les résultats obtenus, en indiquant pour chaque exemple et chaque traitement :
- la contrainte de surface en compression, notée S et exprimée en MPa,
- l'épaisseur de la zone superficielle en compression, notée e et exprimée en ym,
- la concentration superficielle en ions argent dans la zone superficielle en compression, notée CAg et exprimée en yg/cm2,
- la transmission optique pour une longueur d'onde de 430 nm, notée Tl,
- la transmission optique pour une longueur d'onde de 650 nm, notée T2,
- le rapport T1/T2,
- l'indice de jaune au sens de la norme ASTM E313, noté IJ, sans unité. La contrainte de surface en compression et l'épaisseur de la zone superficielle en compression ont été mesurées à l'aide d'un stratoréfractomètre . Les transmissions optiques ont été mesurées par spectrophotométrie (appareil « lambda 1050 » de la société Perkin Elmer) . L'indice de jaune a été calculé à partir du spectre optique.
La concentration superficielle en ions argent dans la zone superficielle en compression est déterminée à partir de mesures réalisées au moyen d'une sonde EDS ( spectrométrie d'énergie - Energy Dispersive Spectrometry). Cette mesure permet de déterminer la concentration massique en argent dans la zone considérée. La concentration volumique (en nombre d'atomes par cm3) est calculée en multipliant cette concentration massique par la masse volumique du verre et le nombre d'Avogadro, ce produit étant divisé par la masse atomique de l'argent. La concentration superficielle (en yg/cm2) est ensuite calculée à l'aide de la méthode décrite aux paragraphes 50 et 51 de la demande US 2012/0034435 susmentionnée.

Tab. .eau 2 Ces résultats montrent que les verres selon l'invention ne présentent pas de jaunissement appréciable, contrairement au verre comparatif. Les rapports T1/T2 comme l'indice de jaune restent en effet particulièrement faibles dans le cas des verres selon l'invention, ce qui n'est pas le cas pour le verre comparatif. Il est donc effectivement impossible de réaliser un échange en une seule étape dans le cas des verres d' aluminosilicate de sodium de l'art antérieur, contrairement aux verres d' aluminosilicate de lithium de l'invention. Des concentrations superficielles élevées en argent sont pourtant obtenues (de l'ordre de 0,03 yg/cm2 ) , comparables à celles décrites dans l'art antérieur. Le traitement en une étape permet donc à la fois, et de manière simple, d'impartir au verre un fort renforcement mécanique (caractérisé par une forte contrainte superficielle en compression et une épaisseur de zone superficielle élevée) et de bonnes propriétés antibactériennes .
L'activité antimicrobienne du verre n°3 a été évaluée selon un protocole inspiré de la norme JIS Z2801 :2000, pour deux souches bactériennes : Staphylococcus aureus ATCC6538P (Gram positif) et Escherichia Coli ATCC8739 (Gram négatif) .
Pour chaque essai, 3 éprouvettes de 20*20 mm2 de surface préalablement stérilisées ont été mises en contact avec des bactéries en suspension. Les éprouvettes ont ensuite été recouvertes d'un film stérile en paraffine puis mises à incuber pendant 24 heures à 35°C en conditions humides. Les bactéries contenues dans la suspension récoltée après le test ont été comptées en UFC (unités formant colonie), et l'activité antimicrobienne a été déterminée. L'activité antimicrobienne est définie comme étant le logarithme décimal du rapport entre le nombre d'unités formant colonie restant après test sur un verre témoin (dépourvu de traitement antibactérien) et le nombre d'unités formant colonie restant après test sur le verre considéré.
Quel que soit le traitement d'échange ionique subi, l'activité antimicrobienne est d'au moins 3 pour la souche Staphylococcus aureus et d'au moins 4 pour la souche Escherichia Coll. Aucune bactérie n'a été détectée sur la portion de solution recueillie à la fin du test sur les verres traités. Les verres selon l'invention présentent donc un effet antibactérien particulièrement important.

Claims

REVENDICATIONS
1. Verre de protection antibactérien pour écran de dispositif électronique dont la composition est du type aluminosilicate de lithium, possédant une zone superficielle en compression obtenue par échange ionique, ladite zone superficielle comprenant en outre des ions argent .
2. Verre de protection selon la revendication précédente, dont l'épaisseur est d'au plus 2 mm, notamment d'au plus 1,5 mm et d'au moins 0,1 mm.
3. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, tel que l'épaisseur de la zone superficielle en compression est d'au moins 20 micromètres, notamment 25 micromètres, et d'au plus 200 micromètres, notamment 100 micromètres.
4. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, tel que la contrainte de surface en compression est d'au moins 300 MPa.
5. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, tel que la zone superficielle en compression est obtenue par échange ionique à l'aide d' ions sodium.
6. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, tel que la concentration superficielle en ions argent dans la zone superficielle en compression est d'au moins 0,005 yg/cm2, notamment 0,01 yg/cm2.
7. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, tel que le rapport entre la transmission optique à une longueur d'onde de 430 nm et la transmission optique à une longueur d'onde de 650 nm est d'au moins 0,95, notamment 0,97.
8. Verre de protection selon l'une des revendications précédentes, dont la composition chimique comprend les oxydes suivants dans les gammes de teneurs pondérales ci-après définies :

Procédé d'obtention d'un verre de protection selon l'une des revendications 1 à 9, comprenant une seule étape d'échange ionique dans laquelle le verre du type aluminosilicate de lithium est simultanément mis en contact avec au moins un sel d' ion alcalin autre que le lithium et au moins un sel d'argent.
12. Procédé selon la revendication précédente, tel que la mise en contact du verre avec les sels d' ion alcalin et d'argent est réalisée en plongeant le verre dans un bain comprenant lesdits sels à l'état fondu, à une température d'au moins 250°C pendant une durée d'au moins 1 heure, la concentration en sel d' argent dans ledit bain étant d' au moins 3% en poids.
