- the invention further relates to a corresponding drying method.
- a generic drying device is for example from the DE 10 2012 200934 B3 known.
- the tobacco material is introduced into the top of the drying tube and, due to gravity, falls through the drying tube down to the material outlet, without the assistance of a pumped medium. Since the drying gas does not have to provide for the transport of the tobacco material, the volume flow can be small, which allows very high drying temperatures.
- the object of the invention is to provide a drying apparatus and a drying method, which allow efficient drying with even further reduced construction costs.
- the heater is arranged to heat the drying tube and to supply all of the drying energy through the drying tube wall to the inside of the drying tube, the drying energy need not be introduced into the drying tube by means of a circulating flow become.
- Means for generating and maintaining a drying gas circulation flow, in particular blower and closed pipe circuit, are therefore expendable according to the invention, whereby the structural complexity compared to the prior art is considerably lower.
- the drying device according to the invention is therefore designed much simpler than a conventional current dryer.
- the drying tube has a flow connection with the environment, so that in the drying tube only by chimney effect, a drying air flow can be generated.
- the chimney effect creates without additional means a falling tobacco material opposing hot air flow, which contributes to the drying of the tobacco material and can carry out the vapors at the top of the fireplace outlet advantageous.
- a flow cross-section adjustment device for example a throttle, is provided, by means of which the volume flow of the drying air flow can be set to a desired flow rate or a desired volume flow rate.
- the chimney draft can be set as desired using the flow cross-section adjustment device.
- the flow cross-section adjusting device is arranged in the direction of the air flow behind the material inlet, so that it is not contaminated by falling tobacco material.
- the flow cross-section adjustment device for adjusting the flow rate of the drying air flow can be controlled and / or regulated, particularly advantageously as a function of a signal measured by a sensor and related to the flow rate of the drying air flow.
- the drying tube is open at the top.
- a suction hood for drawing off vapors can advantageously be arranged above the upper open end of the drying tube.
- the drying tube is connected at the upper end with a dust collector. It can also be set up a different connection of the upper end of the drying tube with the environment through which the chimney or the drying tube, the spent drying air, optionally after cleaning, can deliver into the environment.
- a calming pot and below it a discharge for the dried tobacco material are arranged at the lower end of the drying tube.
- the lower end of the drying tube is open and adapted for free failure of the dried tobacco from the drying tube.
- This is advantageous for generating the chimney effect. But it can also be set up an otherwise connection of the lower end of the drying tube with the environment, through which the chimney or the drying pipe can suck in fresh air from the environment.
- the drying device 10 comprises a vertically or substantially vertically arranged drying tube 11 with a tobacco inlet 12, which opens in the region of the upper end 11 on the shell side in the drying tube 11, and a tobacco outlet 13 at the lower end 19 of the drying tube.
- Substantially vertically comprises a drying tube 11 inclined by up to 45 ° from the vertical.
- the drying tube 11 is stationary and, in particular, non-rotating, in contrast to the drum of a conventional drum dryer.
- the tobacco inlet 12 may have a lock 15 and optionally an expansion unit and / or a Winnowerwalze for tobacco distribution.
- the Winnowerwalze can, for example, according to EP 0 895 721 B1 be executed, the disclosure of which is included in the present application in this respect.
- a heating device 14 which is shown only schematically and which is set up to heat the inner wall of the drying tube 11.
- the heating device 14 is here arranged in the lower region of the drying tube 11, but it may, for example, also extend over the lower half or over the entire length of the drying tube 11.
- the heating by means of the heating device 14 can be effected, for example, electrically, in particular by resistance heating or induction heating, or with burner exhaust gases of a burner, not shown. At relatively low drying temperatures required also a steam heating is conceivable.
- the tobacco is thrown up through the tobacco inlet 12 into the drying tube 11 heated to a high temperature by means of the heater 14, and is released, i.e., at a high temperature.
- free fall through the drying tube 11 of the tobacco by the heat from the heated walls 35 of the drying tube 11 outgoing heat, in particular radiant heat, by short-term contact with the walls and / or by dried in the drying tube 11 heated air.
- All the energy for drying the tobacco is generated by the heater 14 and transmitted through the wall 35 of the drying tube 11 into its interior.
- the drying tube 11 thus serves as a heat exchanger.
- the heat flow generated by the heater 14 is directed inwardly into the interior of the drying tube 11.
- the interior of the drying tube 11 is advantageously free of any internals that could hinder the free fall of the tobacco through the drying tube 11.
- a desired drying performance can be achieved.
- To increase the power and a drying tube battery of several parallel drying tubes 11 is conceivable.
- the air heated in the drying tube 11 rises in the drying tube 11 and can advantageously exit from the drying tube 11 at the upper end 16.
- the upper end 16 of the drying tube 11 is advantageously connected to the environment for this purpose.
- the drying tube 11 is open at the upper end 16.
- a suction head 17 for the withdrawal of vapors, in the suction line 18 expediently a device, not shown, for generating a suction flow is arranged.
- a downwardly tapering, preferably funnel-shaped calming pot 20 in the lower outlet pipe 21 advantageously an outlet lock 22 is arranged.
- the vaporization of water increases the gas volume and thus the pressure in the drying device 10.
- the vapors resulting from water evaporation are preferably drawn off by means of a vapor discharge line 21 which opens into the settling pot 20.
- the vapor outlet can be controlled for example by a controllable flap 23 at the upper open tube outlet 16.
- the upper end 16 and / or the lower end 19 of the drying tube 11 are advantageously connected to the environment, but in any case not via a pipeline. Since the drying device 10 operates without process gas, more precisely without a process gas cycle, a free failure or outflow from the drying tube 11 is also advantageously possible.
- the lower end 19 of the drying tube 11 is advantageously open.
- downwardly and upwardly open drying tube 11 is formed by chimney effect advantageously a towards the top or the falling tobacco contrary directed hot air flow, on the one hand supports the drying of the tobacco and on the other hand, the resulting vapors on the upper chimney outlet 16 out of the drying tube 11 carries out. This natural air movement is caused by the fact that hot gases have a lower density and rise in a chimney. The speed of the ascending gas flow generated by the chimney effect is dependent on the density difference of the cold and hot gas and the length of the drying tube 11 forming the chimney.
- a throttle 23 is advantageously provided, preferably above the tobacco inlet 12, in particular in the region of the chimney outlet forming the upper end 16 of the drying tube 11, so that the throttle 23 is not struck by falling tobacco and contaminated.
- the throttle 23 can advantageously be regulated as a function of a sensor, not shown, which, for example, measures the volume flow rate of the air flow in the drying tube 11. It is also possible to arrange the throttle 23, for example, below the tobacco outlet 19, for example, instead of the vapor discharge line 21 in the embodiment according to Fig.
- the oxygen content can be influenced or controlled and / or regulated (in particular based on a signal from a sensor measuring the oxygen content).
- an optional supply line 27, in particular for supplying steam including superheated steam, and / or inert gas, for example nitrogen or CO 2, in particular for controlling the oxygen content in the drying tube 11 may be provided.
- a collecting funnel 24 and / or a discharge device 25, for example a conveyor trough, and / or a cooling device, for example a pneumatic cooler or a fluidized bed cooler may be provided below the lower open end 19 of the drying tube 11.
- a direct transfer of the hot tobacco in an example pneumatic cooling system can both in the embodiment according to Fig. 1 as well as in the embodiment according to Fig. 2 directly after drying to effect a cooling of the tobacco and a removal of the vapors.
- the calming pot 20 supplied with fresh air, which is used immediately with the tobacco for operating a pneumatic cooling section. In this way, drying and subsequent cooling can be realized in one system.

Description
The invention relates to a device for drying a tobacco material, comprising a drying tube having an upper material inlet and a lower material outlet and a heating device, wherein the drying tube is arranged so that the tobacco material is dried in free fall through the drying tube. The invention further relates to a corresponding drying method.

The object of the invention is to provide a drying apparatus and a drying method, which allow efficient drying with even further reduced construction costs.
The invention solves this problem with the features of the independent claims. Since the heater is arranged to heat the drying tube and to supply all of the drying energy through the drying tube wall to the inside of the drying tube, the drying energy need not be introduced into the drying tube by means of a circulating flow become. Means for generating and maintaining a drying gas circulation flow, in particular blower and closed pipe circuit, are therefore expendable according to the invention, whereby the structural complexity compared to the prior art is considerably lower. The drying device according to the invention is therefore designed much simpler than a conventional current dryer.
Preferably, the drying tube has a flow connection with the environment, so that in the drying tube only by chimney effect, a drying air flow can be generated. The chimney effect creates without additional means a falling tobacco material opposing hot air flow, which contributes to the drying of the tobacco material and can carry out the vapors at the top of the fireplace outlet advantageous.
Advantageously, a flow cross-section adjustment device, for example a throttle, is provided, by means of which the volume flow of the drying air flow can be set to a desired flow rate or a desired volume flow rate. In simple terms, the chimney draft can be set as desired using the flow cross-section adjustment device. Preferably, the flow cross-section adjusting device is arranged in the direction of the air flow behind the material inlet, so that it is not contaminated by falling tobacco material. In an advantageous embodiment, the flow cross-section adjustment device for adjusting the flow rate of the drying air flow can be controlled and / or regulated, particularly advantageously as a function of a signal measured by a sensor and related to the flow rate of the drying air flow.
In one embodiment of the invention, the drying tube is open at the top. In this variant, a suction hood for drawing off vapors can advantageously be arranged above the upper open end of the drying tube. In another embodiment, the drying tube is connected at the upper end with a dust collector. It can also be set up a different connection of the upper end of the drying tube with the environment through which the chimney or the drying tube, the spent drying air, optionally after cleaning, can deliver into the environment.
In a further embodiment of the invention, a calming pot and below it a discharge for the dried tobacco material are arranged at the lower end of the drying tube.
Preferably, the lower end of the drying tube is open and adapted for free failure of the dried tobacco from the drying tube. This is advantageous for generating the chimney effect. But it can also be set up an otherwise connection of the lower end of the drying tube with the environment, through which the chimney or the drying pipe can suck in fresh air from the environment.
