  • Adding guar gum in an amount of 5 percent by weight of the paper binds the filler together and therefore facilitates the incorporation of a relatively large amount of filler, at levels of at least 30 percent by weight of the paper.
  • adding the guar gum also results in a further reduction in the average pore size by increasing the number of smaller pores at the 1 micrometre size.
