Description

The invention relates to an adapter with at least two interconnected ble adapter parts, wherein a first adapter part at a first end has a plug for connection to a USB socket.

From the general state of the art (see US 7-607-920B1 ) adapters are known for connection to a USB port or a USB port, which is also commonly referred to as a USB port. USB jacks are common on computers, for example, to connect external components or peripherals directly or via a connection cable. The external components may, for example, be USB memory sticks, which are generally referred to as USB sticks. USB memory sticks are mass storage devices that can be connected via the USB socket. The external components may also be external hard disks, MP3 players, digital cameras and the like, for example.

Due to the high access speed and the ease of use, especially USB memory sticks have prevailed and displaced other mass storage devices. Also for the merger of two electronic components, the use of USB sockets has prevailed.

The external components may have a USB connector at one end for direct connection to the USB socket. This is a standardized plug. The USB plug can be integrally formed, for example, with a USB memory stick or other peripheral device. It is also known that a cable connects to the USB connector, at the end then the external component or the peripheral device is connected or can be connected. This is the rule, for example, when connecting digital cameras or connecting larger external hard drives. If the connection is made via a connection cable that is plugged into the USB socket via a USB plug, the device to be connected via the USB socket can be connected to the cable in any way, preferably also via a USB interface.

The disadvantage with a USB socket is that, especially when several USB devices are to be regularly connected to the USB socket, plugging and unplugging the USB plug is not very convenient.

Adapters are known from the prior art, which can be plugged into a USB socket and at the end remote from the USB socket then a cable or a peripheral device is connected. Such adapters may either have a USB interface (USB plug or USB socket) for connecting the cable or the peripheral device or may have any desired plug or socket. The handling, especially if several devices or cables are to be regularly connected to the USB port, but this is not facilitated.

The present invention has for its object to provide an adapter with which it is easy, fast and reliable, possible to connect a cable or an external component or a peripheral device to a USB socket.

This object is achieved by an adapter with at least two interconnected ble adapter parts, wherein a first adapter part at a first end a plug for connection to a USB socket and at a second end at least a first electrical contact element and a first part of a magnetic connection means and wherein a second adapter part at a first end, which is provided for connection to the second end of the first adapter part, at least one electrical counter contact element and a second Part of the magnetic connection means and having an interface at a second end, and wherein the first adapter part at its second end forms at least one contact surface, which is inclined relative to an orthogonal to an adapter longitudinal axis cross-sectional area, and wherein the second adapter part at its first end a complementary Contact surface and adjoin the contact surfaces plane-parallel to each other when the adapter parts are magnetically interconnected.

Characterized in that the adapter according to the invention comprises at least two magnetically interconnected adapter parts, a cable but also any electronic device can be very easily and conveniently connected to a USB socket. For this purpose, according to the invention, the first adapter part has at a first end a plug for connection to a USB socket. This can be a standardized USB plug. Furthermore, the first adapter part has at a second end at least one first electrical contact element, preferably a plurality of contact elements, and a first part of a magnetic connection device.

According to the invention, a second adapter part has at a first end, which is provided for connection to the second end of the first adapter part, at least one electrical mating contact element, preferably a plurality of mating contact elements, and a second part of the magnetic connection device. The second adapter part may have an interface, preferably a USB socket, at a second end.

The first adapter part forms at its second end at least one contact surface, which is inclined relative to a cross-sectional area oriented at right angles to an adapter longitudinal axis. The second adapter part has a complementary contact surface at its first end. The contact surfaces adjoin one another plane-parallel when the adapter parts are magnetically interconnected by the force of the magnetic connection device.

The advantage of the solution according to the invention consists firstly in that the first adapter part can be inserted into a USB socket and left there. To connect a cable or a device or any external component to the USB socket, the second adapter part is first connected to the cable or to the external component to be connected. In order to establish a connection between the cable or the external component and the USB socket, it is sufficient to connect the two adapter parts with each other, which can be done very simply and independently from a certain approximation of the two adapter parts to each other due to the magnetic connection device. Connecting a cable or an external component to a USB socket is thus easy, fast and reliable. It is advantageous if a plurality of cables or external components are provided with a second adapter part, so that it is not necessary to remove the second adapter part from an external component or a cable and attach it to another component.

It is fundamentally possible for the second adapter part to already be part of a cable or for the second adapter part to be integrated into an external component.

It may be advantageous if the second adapter part and / or the first adapter part is connected directly to a cable or firmly connected to a cable. The corresponding adapter part can be used with the connected cable as a line.

If the second adapter part is part of a cable or a cable is connected directly to the second adapter part, then in the sense of claim 1 the cable can form part of the second adapter part. The inventively provided interface of the second adapter part is then preferably formed at the free end of the cable. The interface can be configured as desired, for example as a plug or socket, in particular as a USB plug or USB socket.

The first adapter part can analogously also be part of a cable or connected directly to a permanently connected cable. In this case, the cable may preferably form a plug for connection to a USB socket at the end remote from the magnetic connection device.

A particular advantage of the invention is that due to the inclined relative to the cross-sectional area of the adapter arrangement of the contact surfaces, the magnetic connection device can be particularly advantageously integrated into the contact surfaces. Furthermore, the contact elements and the mating contact elements can be integrated particularly advantageously, wherein it is also possible, in particular, to design the contact elements and / or the mating contact elements as flat contacts, contact strips or contact springs. In particular, it is possible to design or arrange the contact elements and / or the mating contact elements sprung.

Another advantage of the inclined relative to the cross-sectional area of the adapter arrangement of the contact surfaces is that the magnetic connection device is supported or it is at least possible that the contact surfaces in particular a part of the weight of the second adapter part or the cable connected thereto or with record this connected external component. In a connection of the two adapter parts via contact surfaces which extend plane-parallel to the cross-sectional area, the contact surface can absorb no forces, so that in this case only the magnetic connection device is decisive to keep the second adapter part on the first adapter part. In particular, when the second adapter part, for example, directly connected to a USB stick, weight forces and bending forces can arise, which can lead to an unwanted release of the magnetic connection between the two adapter parts. This makes it necessary to form the magnets particularly strong. However, with an arrangement of the magnets in contact surfaces which extend plane-parallel to the cross-sectional area, the magnets extend substantially in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the adapter, this can lead to space problems, in particular if large magnets are to be used. This problem can be reduced or avoided be that the contact surfaces according to the invention are inclined relative to the cross-sectional area. It is preferable in this case if the contact surfaces of the adapter parts run at least approximately plane-parallel to a base surface of the adapter. The base area corresponds essentially to a surface which is plane-parallel to the two largest outer surfaces (top and bottom) of the USB connector at the first end of the first adapter part. The base area thus runs at right angles to the cross-sectional area.

It is advantageous if the contact surfaces are each integrated into a shoulder and the two adapter parts are constructed correspondingly complementary, so that the first adapter part is connected to the second adapter part by a direction of movement which at an angle, preferably perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of Adapter parts or extends to the plug-in direction with which the first adapter part is inserted with its first end formed on the USB plug into the USB socket.

It is advantageous if the first adapter part has at its second end a recess which forms the contact surface and at least one further contact surface, and wherein the second adapter part has at its first end a complementary recess which forms the contact surface and at least one contact surface, wherein the contact surfaces and the contact surfaces of the adapter parts face each other plane-parallel, when the adapter parts are magnetically interconnected.

The formation of the return in such a way that a contact surface and at least one further contact surface is created, results in a particularly good connection between the two adapter parts. It is envisaged that the contact surface and the contact surface of an adapter part are not plane-parallel, but at an angle to each other.

It is advantageous if the first adapter part has a contact surface and two contact surfaces by the recess at its second end and wherein the second adapter part has at its first end a complementary contact surface and two complementary contact surfaces, wherein the contact surfaces and the contact surfaces of the adapter parts are each opposite plane-parallel, when the adapter parts are magnetically interconnected.

Further, it is advantageous if the recess at the second end of the first adapter part forms a step or a step and the first end of the second adapter part is designed to be complementary.

By forming a step or a step, it is particularly advantageous to form a contact surface in the respective adapter part, in particular in conjunction with at least two further contact surfaces. The contact surfaces can preferably run plane-parallel to each other. Preferably, the contact surfaces and the contact surface are not plane-parallel.

It is advantageous if the contact surfaces of the adapter parts run at least approximately plane-parallel to the base of the adapter. Furthermore, it is advantageous if the contact surfaces extend at least approximately plane-parallel to the cross-sectional area of the adapter.

The fact that the contact surfaces are plane-parallel to a base surface of the adapter, results in a particularly good support to connect the first adapter part with the second adapter part.

It is advantageous if the contact surface in the first adapter part is arranged such that when the first adapter part is inserted with its USB plug into a USB socket, the contact surface at the second end of the first adapter part points upwards and preferably in one horizontal plane passes.

It is advantageous if the contact surface in the first adapter part is arranged such that the contact surface faces upwards and extends in a horizontal plane, when the first adapter part is aligned with its USB plug so that the base of the adapter is aligned plane-parallel to a horizontal plane and a space in the USB plug, which serves to receive a tongue of the USB socket, located in the USB connector on top ,

Generally, the terms "top," "top," "top," "bottom," "bottom," and "bottom" refer to a positioning of the adapter part where the base of the adapter is aligned plane-parallel to a horizontal plane is and the free space of the USB connector of the first adapter part, which is intended to receive a tongue of a USB socket, located in the USB connector on top.

The steps in the two adapter parts are preferably designed such that the steps each have a height which corresponds at least approximately to half the height of the adapter in the connection region of the two adapter parts. It may be advantageous if the length of the step extending in the adapter longitudinal direction corresponds to 1 to 4 times, preferably 1.5 to 2.5 times, the height of the step.

The step in the first adapter part is preferably designed such that its underside forms part of the underside of the adapter. The top of the step preferably extends plane-parallel to the base in a plane which preferably divides the adapter approximately centrally with respect to its height, the contact surface being formed by the top of the step and the contact surface being upwardly oriented.

For this purpose, the step in the second adapter part is preferably designed to be complementary.

It is advantageous if, in the first adapter part, the stage is connected as directly as possible to the USB plug which is provided for insertion into a USB socket.

It is advantageous if the magnetic connection device is formed in the contact surfaces.

The magnetic connection device may have at least one magnet which is arranged in the first part or in the second part of the magnetic connection device. The magnet can cooperate with a soft iron or a soft magnetic material as a counter element in the other part or with a magnet.

According to the invention, it can be provided that the first part and / or the second part of the magnetic connection device has at least one magnet. In an embodiment of a plurality of magnets in one part of the magnetic connection device, in the respective other part of the magnetic connection device, a corresponding number of magnets can be used
or a corresponding number of counter-elements may be provided from a soft magnetic material. There are also mixtures possible here. It can be provided in each part in each case a magnet and a counter element. Also possible are several magnets or soft magnetic counter elements.

It is advantageous if a part of the magnetic connection device has at least one magnet, preferably two magnets, and the other part of the magnetic connection device has at least one soft magnetic material as a counter element, preferably two counter elements.

Furthermore, it can be advantageous if the first part of the magnetic connection device has at least two magnets and the second part of the magnetic connection device has at least two magnets, the magnets being aligned in such a way that
that, when the first adapter part is connected to the second adapter part, opposite each other oppositely oriented magnets.

The inventor has recognized that the formation of two or at least two magnets is particularly advantageous in order to reliably connect the two adapter parts with each other. It can be provided that each adapter part has two mutually oppositely oriented magnets, so that let the two adapter parts particularly advantageous self-locating merge.

It is advantageous if the at least one electrical contact element and the at least one electrical counter-contact element are each arranged in the contact surfaces.

It may be advantageous if the magnets are arranged in the contact surfaces so that the contact elements or the mating contact elements are located between the magnets of a contact surface.

It is also advantageous if the at least one electrical contact element and the at least one electrical mating contact element is designed as a flat contact or contact strip, wherein the at least one contact element and / or the at least one mating contact element is spring-mounted or arranged.

It is advantageous if four contact elements and four mating contact elements for data and / or power transmission are provided.

It is advantageous if the two outer of the preferably parallel juxtaposed contact elements are longer and / or more resilient than the other two contact elements, wherein the two outer contact elements are preferably provided for power transmission and is to be achieved in that when separating the two Adapter parts from each other contact the power contacts longer than the data contacts.

It may also be advantageous if the first adapter part at its second end and the second adapter part at its first end in each case at least one shielding contact wherein the at least one shielding contact in the first adapter part makes contact with the at least one shielding contact of the second adapter part when the adapter parts are magnetically connected to one another.

It is advantageous if each adapter part has two shielding contacts, wherein in each case one shielding contact of one adapter part is assigned to a shielding contact of the other adapter part and forms a shielding contact pair. It may be advantageous in this case if each pair of shield contact contacts has a shielding contact which is spring-mounted or arranged. It is advantageous if the shielding contacts are designed as flat contacts, contact strips or contact springs. The shield contacts are preferably connected to the housing of the respective adapter part to produce an advantageous shield.

It is advantageous if an electrical contact element and an electrical counter-contact element form a contact pair. It is advantageous if either the contact element or the mating contact element is sprung formed or arranged, preferably by a configuration as a contact spring, wherein the respective other element as a flat contact or contact strip, d. H. is preferably designed unsprung. It is advantageous if either all contact elements or all mating contact elements sprung, preferably as contact springs, are formed.

The second adapter part may have an arbitrary interface at its second end. If appropriate, the interface can also be replaced by an integrated mass memory or a transmitting and / or receiving unit. The interface may preferably be designed as a USB socket. However, the interface can also be designed as a USB plug or any socket or any connector.

It is possible to design the plug of the first adapter part as desired. Although it is advisable that the plug is designed for connection to a USB socket, the fundamental inventive idea is not based on the use of the invention Solution for connection to a USB socket mandatory limited. This is just a particularly suitable and practical design. If, in particular in the future, the USB socket is replaced by another socket, the adapter according to the invention can be adapted thereto by a redesign of the plug of the first adapter part.

An independent of the adapter with at least two adapter parts connectable with each other solution is shown in claim 15. Claimed is an adapter part with a firmly connected cable. Claimed is also a cable, at one end of an adapter part, preferably in an embodiment according to the second adapter part, is firmly connected. Alternatively, the adapter part can also be designed in accordance with the first adapter part.

An independent inventive solution provides an adapter part with a first end which is provided for connection to one end of another adapter part. At the first end of the adapter part electrical mating contact elements and a part of a magnetic connecting device are formed. Further, a contact surface is formed at the first end, which is inclined relative to a cross-sectional area oriented at right angles to an adapter longitudinal axis. The adapter part has at its second end a permanently connected cable which has an interface at its end facing away from the adapter part.

FIG. 1 shows an adapter 1 with two magnetically connectable adapter parts 2, 3. The first adapter part 2, which as an individual part in the FIG. 3 is shown, has at a first end a plug 4 for connection to a USB socket, not shown. The plug 4 is designed as a USB plug. At a second end, the adapter part 2 has a plurality of electrical contact elements 5 and a first part 6a of a magnetic connection device 6. In the exemplary embodiment, the first adapter part 2 four contact elements 5, wherein the two outer contact elements 5 are provided for power transmission and the two inner contact elements 5 for data transmission, this configuration as well as the specific number of contact elements 5 is not in the invention at.

The first part 6a of the magnetic connection device 6 has two magnets 7. It can also be more or less magnets 7 or a soft magnetic Material used in place of the magnets. The magnets 7 are preferably arranged such that the contact elements 5 are located between them.

The second adapter part 3 has at a first end, which is provided for connection to the second end of the first adapter part 2, a plurality of electrical mating contact elements, the number of which corresponds to the number of contact elements 5. Furthermore, the first end of the second adapter part 3 has a second part 6b of the magnetic connection device 6. The second part 6b of the magnetic connection means 6 has two magnets 9 (or a soft magnetic material instead of the magnets) corresponding to the two magnets 7, respectively, when the first adapter part 2 is connected to the second adapter part 3, as shown in FIGS Figures 1 and 2 is shown.

A magnet 7 and a magnet 9 forms a magnetic contact pair, wherein the magnets 7, 9 are each arranged such that the magnets 7, 9 of a pair of magnetic contact opposite polarity, when the adapter parts 2, 3 are magnetically interconnected. In principle, it is possible that one of the magnets of a magnetic contact pair is replaced by a soft magnetic material.

In the exemplary embodiment can be provided that the two magnets 7 of the first adapter part 2 are aligned opposite polarity. Analogously, the magnets 9 in the second adapter part 3 may also be formed in opposite polarity, so that the two adapter parts 2, 3 can be connected to one another only in a specific orientation. In the present case, the adapter parts 2, 3 can be connected to each other only in one orientation due to their structural design anyway. However, a corresponding magnetic alignment of the magnets 7, 9 can support this or support a self-closing of the adapter parts 2, 3.

The second adapter part 3 has at its second end an interface 10, which in the exemplary embodiment is a USB socket. Alternatively, it can However, it can also be any socket. Furthermore, an embodiment of the interface 10 as a USB connector or as any other connector is possible.

The first adapter part 2 (see Figures 1 and 2 ) forms at its second end a contact surface 11, which is inclined relative to a perpendicular to an adapter longitudinal axis X aligned cross-sectional area of the adapter 1. The second adapter part 3 has a complementary contact surface 12 at its first end. The contact surfaces 11, 12 abut plane-parallel to each other when the adapter parts 2, 3 are magnetically connected to each other by the force of the magnetic connection means 6, as in the Figures 1 and 2 is shown.

The first adapter part 2, as is apparent from the FIGS. 1 to 3 results in at its second end a recess 13, through which the contact surface 11 and two contact surfaces 14 are formed. The second adapter part 3 is designed to be complementary and has a recess 15, which forms a complementary to the contact surface 11 contact surface 12 and two complementary to the contact surfaces 14 contact surfaces 16. The contact surfaces 14, 16 and the contact surfaces 11, 12 are each plane-parallel opposite when the adapter parts 2, 3 are magnetically interconnected, as in the FIG. 1 and the FIG. 2 is shown.

As further from the FIGS. 1 to 3 results, the first adapter part 2 forms a step 17 due to the return 13. The second adapter part 3 forms a corresponding complementary step 18. The steps 17, 18 are stacked, as provided for the connection of the adapter parts 2, 3, a height which corresponds substantially to the height of the adapter 1 in the adjacent areas.

The contact surfaces 11, 12 of the adapter parts 2, 3 extend at least approximately plane-parallel to a base of the adapter 1. The base of the adapter 1 extends in the embodiment substantially plane-parallel to a housing top side 19 (or analogous to the underside of housing not shown) of the adapter. 1 , as exemplified in FIG. 1 is shown. The base defined in the embodiment also by the plug 4 of the first adapter part 2. The base extends plane-parallel to the two largest outer surfaces 4a, 4b of the plug 4, which is the top 4a and the bottom 4b of the plug 4.

The contact surface 11 of the first adapter part 2 points upward and the contact surface 12 of the second adapter part 3 points downward, when the first adapter part is aligned with its USB plug 4 so that the base of the adapter is aligned plane-parallel to a horizontal plane and a space 4c in the USB connector 4, which serves to receive a tongue of the USB socket, located in the USB connector 4 above.

Die Anlageflächen 14, 16 verlaufen wenigstens annähernd planparallel zu der Querschnittsfläche des Adapters 1.The contact surfaces 14, 16 extend at least approximately plane-parallel to the cross-sectional area of the adapter 1.

The magnetic connection device 6 is, as is apparent from the FIGS. 3 to 5 is formed in the contact surfaces 11, 12 and has the already described magnets 7, 9 and optionally counter-elements of a soft magnetic material.

As is clear from the FIGS. 3 to 5 Furthermore, the contact elements 5 and the mating contact elements 8 are each arranged in the corresponding contact surfaces 11, 12 and formed there. The contact elements 5 of the first adapter part 2 are formed in the embodiment as flat contacts or contact strips and preferably not spring-loaded. The mating contact elements 8 are formed in the embodiment as a contact springs or sprung and / or sprung arranged. This ensures a reliable contacting of the contact elements 5 with the mating contact elements 8 and a structurally simple construction.

The first adapter part 2 and the second adapter part 3 each have at least one shielding contact 20, 21, which are arranged in the contact surfaces 11, 12 or formed there.
