Description

INSULATING PANEL FOR THE BUILDING SECTOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING IT
The present invention relates to an insulating panel for the building sector and to the method for manufacturing it.
The need to ensure the thermal insulation of a wall that divides two spaces has always been felt. This entails increasing the thermal resistance of the wall by means of constructive solutions and by using materials that have a high thermal resistance.
For this purpose, the use of prefabricated panels is currently widespread in order to improve the thermal insulation of external walls, of ceilings and of below-ground floor slabs, the thickness of which is selected depending on the insulation requirements, said panels having fixing systems that make them convenient also in terms of quickness of application and practicality in use.
These panels are in fact for example placed on the outer surfaces of the perimetric walls of the building, arranged side-by-side so as to form what is called the external insulation or by using adapted spacer couplings for the provision of ventilated walls.
Insulating panels are composed of various layers, and high-density rock wool and polystyrene and polyurethane materials are among the most widespread materials for the insulating layer.
Despite its effectiveness, this insulating layer, even more so if it is constituted by rock wool, has a relatively large thickness, penalizing the volume of the spaces.
The polyurethane or polystyrene insulation layer has, with equal effectiveness, a lower thickness than the rock wool layer but is in any case limiting for internal dwelling volumes and provides a panel that is relatively hard to handle.
Although they are effective, currently the need is felt to improve further the performance of thermally insulating panels and to perfect them by reducing their thickness.
The aim of the present invention is to provide an insulating panel for the building sector that is capable of offering a better performance than currently known panels and at the same time is capable of obviating the cited drawbacks.
Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a thermally insulating panel that, with equal performance, has a low thickness with respect to known panels.
Another object of the invention is to provide an insulating panel that is easy to install and easier to handle than the panels used so far.
This aim, as well as these and other objects that will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an insulating panel for the building sector, characterized in that it comprises a fiberglass shell in the internal compartment of which insulating material, at least partially constituted by aerogel, is enclosed.
Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the description of four preferred but not exclusive embodiments of the thermally insulating panel according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the insulating panel according to the present invention in a first embodiment;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the insulating panel according to the present invention in a second embodiment;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the insulating panel according to the invention in a third embodiment;
Figure 4 is a view of the insulating panel according to the invention in a fourth embodiment;
Figure 5 is a view of the insulating panel according to the invention associated with identical insulating panels; Figure 6 is a view, similar to Figure 5, of the insulating panel according to the invention associated with identical thermally insulating panels and provided with systems for coupling to the supporting structure;
Figure 7 is a view of an example of application of the insulating panel according to the invention;
Figure 8 is a view of another example of application of the insulating panel according to the invention;
Figure 9 is a view of a step of a method for providing the insulating panel according to the invention in the first embodiment thereof.
With reference to the cited figures, the insulating panel according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 10 in its first embodiment, comprises a fiberglass shell 1 1, in the internal compartment 12 of which insulating material 13 at least partly constituted by aerogel is enclosed.
The fiberglass shell 1 1 comprises a central fiberglass body 14 that is provided by pultrusion and is closed at each of its two end faces 15, i.e., the faces that are perpendicular to the pultrusion direction, by a fiberglass sheet 16 that is shaped so as to correspond to said end faces 15.
In Figure 1 (as in the subsequent figures, which illustrate the two embodiments 110 and 210 of the insulating panel), the fiberglass sheet 16 is shown only partially so as to show the insulating material 13 enclosed in the internal compartment of the fiberglass shell 11 , but is applied so as to close completely the two end faces 15, as shown clearly in Figure 5.
The lateral faces 17a and 17b of the insulating panel 10, or of the fiberglass shell 11, are shaped (in a step-like manner) so as to form an abutment for the side-by-side arrangement of another identical insulating panel 10.
In this first embodiment, the insulating material 13 comprises at least one mat 18 made of a material impregnated with aerogel (for example impregnated polyester). In particular, the partial sectional view shown in the example given in Figure 1 shows that it comprises two mats 18, which are superimposed and offset with respect to each other so as to fill the internal compartment 12 of the fiberglass shell 11.
As can be seen in Figure 6, the insulating panel 10 can be provided with systems 19 for coupling to the internal supporting structure 20 and for spacing from it in order to ensure ventilation.
These coupling systems 19 are constituted by fiberglass profiled elements that are provided by pultrusion together with the central body 14 and are designed to mate with complementary shaped profiled elements of the internal supporting structure 20.
Moreover, the invention also relates to the methods for providing the insulating panel in the first three embodiments.
For this first embodiment of the insulating panel 10, the method comprises:
- a step of pultrusion of the central body 14 made of fiberglass with simultaneous insertion of the mats 18 unrolled from rolls 21 ,
- a step of cutting the blank to the length that corresponds to the central body 14,
- a step of applying the fiberglass sheet 16 to the two end faces 15. In particular, the pultrusion step in which simultaneous insertion of the mats 18 occurs is the step for the passage of the compacted glass fibers 22 through a heated mold 23. As shown schematically in Figure 9, the heated mold is crossed simultaneously also by the mats 18, so as to return in output the blank to be cut and to which the fiberglass sheets 16 are to be applied.
In a second embodiment, the insulating panel is generally designated by the reference numeral 110.
It is substantially similar to the insulating panel 10 described above, differing from it in the insulating material 113 enclosed in the internal compartment 112 of the fiberglass shell 1 11. In particular, said insulating material 1 13 is constituted, as shown in Figure 2, by aerogel powder 1 18. The method for providing the insulating panel 110 comprises:
- a step of pultrusion of the central fiberglass body 114,
- a step of cutting the blank to the desired length of the central body 114,
- a step of applying the fiberglass sheet 116 to one of the two end faces 115,
- a step of filling the internal compartment 1 12 with the aerogel powder 118,
- a step of applying the fiberglass sheet 116 to the other of the two end faces 115.
The third embodiment of the insulating panel according to the invention, generally designated by the numeral 210 and shown in Figure 3, differs from the preceding two in that the insulating material 113 is constituted by aerogel in the solid state 218.
The method for providing it comprises:
- a step of pultrusion of the central fiberglass body 214,
- a step of cutting the blank to the desired length for the central body,
- a step of applying the fiberglass sheet 216 to one of the two end faces 215,
- a step of filling the internal compartment 212 with fluid containing aerogel in suspension,
- a step of applying the fiberglass sheet 216 to the other of the two end faces 215,
- a step of heating the blank, filled with aerogel fluid, in an adapted oven.
The fiberglass shell 211 has conveniently, in at least one of its faces 224, which in the provided illustration is the exposed face of the panel, holes 225 (more precisely, microperforations) for the evaporation of the liquid that is present in the fluid containing aerogel in suspension, so that the insulating material 213, at the end of the process, is aerogel in the solid state 218.
In its fourth embodiment, the panel according to the invention is generally designated by the reference numeral 310 and, differently from the other three embodiments described above, the fiberglass shell 311 comprises a box-like body 326, which is filled with the insulating material 313, and a cover 327, both made of fiberglass. The insulating material 313 is constituted at least partly by aerogel and can be constituted conveniently by a mat impregnated with aerogel or by aerogel powder or solid aerogel obtained by evaporation of the liquid part of fluid aerogel, in a manner similar to what has been described in the method of the third embodiment.
The box-like body 326 is closed by the cover 327, and if the insulating material 313 is constituted by aerogel in the solid state, the cover 327 is conveniently provided with holes (not shown) for the evaporation of the liquid during heating in an adapted oven.
The box-like body 326 is provided advantageously, inside the cavity, with pins 328 on which the cover 327 rests and with a perimetric edge 29 that is contoured so as to form an abutment in precise closure with the resting contact of the cover 327.
In this embodiment, the box-like body 326 and the cover 327 are provided preferably by molding.
Figures 7 and 8 show some examples of application of the insulating panel 10 according to the invention, which can be replaced by the insulating panels according to the other embodiments 110, 210, 310.
In particular, the first example of Figure 7 illustrates the application to external perimetric masonry.
Infilling and finishing can be provided conveniently from the outer side of the building on the insulating panel 10, whereas on the inner side of the insulating panel 10 the coupling systems 19 are provided with which a gypsum fiber panel 30 is associated, followed by a single-adhesive sheet 31 on which a galvanized steel structure 32 is fixed which supports an additional insulating layer 33 made of polyester wool. These can be followed by an additional single-adhesive sheath 34, by a vapor barrier layer 35, by a first plasterboard panel 36 and by a second plasterboard panel 37.
The second example of Figure 8 instead illustrates the application of the insulating panel 10 to a below-ground floor slab.
The insulating panel 10 is rested on a reinforced concrete floor 38 that is covered with a vapor barrier 39. A screed 40 rests on the panel, and a sheath for acoustic insulation 41, followed by a self-leveling screed 42 to which the flooring 43 is applied, is applied to said screed 40.
It should be noted that the fiberglass shell 11 gives the insulating panel 10 a relatively high mechanical strength and the aerogel inside it ensures thermal insulation.
In insulating panels the same thermal insulation that can be obtained with a layer of medium-density insulating product, such as for example polystyrene, can in fact be obtained by using a layer with aerogel with a thickness that is equal to one fifth of the preceding one, since aerogel is an excellent heat insulator and a good convection inhibitor.
In practice it has been found that the invention achieves the intended aim and objects, providing an insulating panel that is strong and capable of ensuring excellent thermal insulation with a reduced thickness with respect to currently known panels.
Another advantage of the insulating panel according to the invention is that it is easy to handle by workers assigned to laying the panels thanks to its reduced thickness and light weight due to the use of aerogel.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims; all the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials used, as long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to the requirements and the state of the art.
