Method according to claim 1, wherein the data (22) transmitted via the communication path (20) represent an address, and wherein the display device (12) requests data, in particular image data and/or audio data, by means of the address of a remote memory location, and wherein information specific to the domestic appliance is shown by the display device (12) on the basis of the requested data.

Method according to either claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the data (22) transmitted to the display device (12) via the communication path (20) comprise at least one piece of status information about a status of the domestic appliance (10) and wherein the information specific to the domestic appliance is shown by the display device (12) depending on the status information.
4. Domestic appliance (10) comprising an interface (14) for wireless transmission of data and means for transferring data (22) to a remote display device (12) by means of the interface (14) and on the basis of an operation at the domestic appliance (10),
   the data (22) containing media data or an address for referencing a memory location of such data,
   characterised by
   means for illuminating at least one operating element (48) on the basis of control information (40) which is received by the display device (12) and indicates an operating element (48) in each case.
5. Domestic appliance (10) according to claim 4,
   wherein status information which encodes a status of the domestic appliance (10) can be transmitted to the display device (12) together with the data (22).
6. System comprising a domestic appliance (10) according to either claim 4 or claim 5 and a display device (12) that comprises an interface (16) for wireless transmission of data.
7. Computer program (32) comprising program code means for carrying out all steps of the method according to any of claims 1 to 3, when the computer program (32) is executed by means of a processing unit (28) that is comprised by a domestic appliance (10) according to any of claims 4 to 5.
