Description

The present invention relates to a ball game racket, in particular a tennis racket, with a replaceable electronics insert.

It is already known to equip ball game rackets with electronics and / or sensors, for example, to actively dampen vibrations in the racket or to measure certain characteristics during the game. For example, from the EP 1 177 816 A1 a ball game racket is known, which has at least one transducer which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy during deformation and an electrical circuit connected to the transducer. The entire, the converter supplied electrical energy is derived from energy, which is taken from the mechanical deformation. The transducer, in turn, converts this electrical energy into mechanical energy that affects the vibration characteristics of the racquet. The electrical circuit is received in a cutout in the handle portion and this cutout filled with a foam for fixing the circuit. Alternatively, the circuit may be glued to the handle portion of the racket or fixedly mounted to the handle cap of the racket.

In these conventional rackets, however, it has proved to be disadvantageous that the racket must already be provided with the desired electrical circuit during production. This makes it practically impossible to subsequently retrofit a racket or to replace the electrical circuit of such a racket by another or improved circuit.

The object of the present invention is to provide a more flexible solution in this connection.

WO 2014/004812 A2 (Priority of 14.03.2013, published on 03.01.2014) describes a ball game racket with a head portion for receiving a fabric and a handle portion with a handle cap, wherein the handle portion has a cavity for interchangeable receiving an electronics insert. In this document, moreover, the cavity of a golf club is designed such that the electronics insert or alternatively a ground insert can be received in the cavity. The battery of the golf club can also be charged in the golf club.

Accordingly, the present invention relates to a set according to claim 1, comprising a ball game racket, an electronics insert and a ground insert. The ball game racket has a head section for receiving a covering and a grip section, wherein a cavity for exchangeable reception of the electronic insert is provided in the grip section. The Cavity is designed so that the electronics module can be taken with a defined orientation at a predetermined position in the cavity and held with this orientation at this position. The defined orientation and defined position of the inserted electronic insert are important insofar as the electronics module may have, for example, acceleration sensors or gyro sensors depending on its functionality, whose signals can only be meaningfully evaluated if the orientation and position of such sensors is known.

The electronics module is stored statically determined in the cavity. The cavity is provided with a mechanism which allows to fix the electronics insert detachably in the cavity. In this case, elements on the electronics insert preferably engage with corresponding counterparts within the cavity. For this purpose, the electronics insert, for example, releasably engage in the cavity. Additionally or alternatively, it is possible that the electronics insert, for example by means of corresponding grooves, is guided on the inside of the cavity. At Schlägerkopfseitigen end of the cavity may preferably be provided a spring and / or an elastic element, against the restoring forces of the electronic insert is inserted into the cavity. At the handle cap-side end of the cavity, a mechanism may be provided by means of which it is prevented that the electronics insert is pushed out of the cavity due to the lack of forces again. This mechanism can also be formed by the handle cap itself, which then, once it is fixed to the handle portion of the ball game racket, holds the electronics insert in position.

Particularly preferably, the cavity provided in the handle portion has an opening on the handle cap-side end of the handle portion, which can be closed by means of a handle cap. In a further preferred embodiment, however, the cavity may also have an opening on a lateral wall portion of the handle, which may be closed by the grip band, for example.

According to the invention, it is possible in a simple manner to remove the once inserted into the cavity electronics module again from the cavity, without destroying the electronics insert or its rack-side storage. This allows the Electronics module can be easily replaced by a new electronics module, be equipped with other components such as sensors or reprogrammed. It is particularly preferred for the replacement of the electronics module only necessary to release the handle cap from the handle portion and, optionally, to solve an additional latching and / or fixation of the electronic insert in the cavity.

The ball game racket preferably has at least one sensor and / or a processor. Examples of suitable sensors are acceleration sensors, gyro sensors, magnetometers, temperature sensors, GPS sensors and the like. The sensors may be mounted in the handle portion and / or in the head portion of the ball game racket. Preferably, an electrically conductive connection is provided in the handle portion, which is adapted to electrically connect the electronics module with the sensors and / or the processor. If the sensor and / or processor are arranged in the grip section, the connection can be a direct connection between these components and the electronics module. However, if some or all of these components are arranged in the head section and / or the heart section of the ball game racket, a cable preferably leads from these components to the grip section, where then the electrically conductive connection is provided, which is suitable for establishing a connection to the electronic insert. This may be, for example, a plug connection and / or a spring contact. This connection preferably ensures not only an electrical connection between the processor and / or sensor on the one hand and the electronics insert on the other hand, but also a mechanical connection between the electronics insert and the grip section. Thus, for example, be provided in the handle portion, a plug-in connection mechanically engage in the corresponding counterparts on the electronics insert, wherein at the same time an electrically conductive connection is made. Also, a connection with a spring contact can contribute to the mechanical stabilization of the electronic insert, as already described above.

In addition or as an alternative to the sensor and / or processor in the ball game racket, a sensor and / or processor can also be provided in the electronic insert. If all the electronic components and sensors are arranged in the electronics module, an electrically conductive connection between the electronics module on the one hand and components in the grip section on the other hand can be dispensed with. For certain applications, however, it is preferable if, in addition, external electronic components outside of the Electronic insert are provided which are in the handle portion, heart area and / or head portion of the ball game racket, preferably fixed, mounted. In particular, it may be advantageous to attach acceleration sensors in the head section and / or heart region of the example racket.

Batterie). The electronics module preferably has one or a combination of the following components: processor, memory, acceleration sensor, gyrosensor, magnetometer, temperature sensor, GPS sensor, communication interface for z. WLAN, Bluetooth or USB, power supply (e.g., battery).

Preferably, the electronics insert further comprises a housing which is adapted to be received in the handle portion of the ball game racket, preferably completely. Preferably, all electronic components of the electronics module are arranged within the housing and protected by this from external influences. The housing is preferably made of plastic, for example injection-molded. The housing has a longitudinal axis and is preferably not rotationally symmetrical about this longitudinal axis, so that a precisely fitting insertion of the housing into the cavity in the grip portion a defined orientation of the housing in the grip portion is guaranteed. Preferably, the cross section through the housing is not mirror-symmetrical, so that a mirror image mounting of the electronics module can be prevented. For example, the housing may be formed rectangular and also have on two opposite sides each having a groove, wherein the two grooves are formed differently and can engage in correspondingly differently shaped projections in the cavity of the handle portion. The housing may have connections for external components, such as the already discussed above electrically conductive connection to any sensors and / or processors in the handle portion of the ball game racket and / or communication interfaces for connection to other external components such. B. a USB port.

In a preferred embodiment, the electronics module or housing has a communication interface at a first end and a connection in the handle portion for connecting the electronics module to the sensor and / or processor at a second end opposite the first end. When the electronics insert is inserted into the cavity of the ball game racket, the second end to the head portion end of the cavity, in which direction in the ball game racket z. B. external sensors can be arranged, whereas the first end has the handle cap-side end of the cavity. In this way, the communication interface is particularly easy for the user accessible. If, for example, a USB connection is provided at this first end, then the player can release the handle cap of the ball game racket from the grip section and insert the electronic insert, for example. B. connect to a USB memory, a laptop or a smartphone, while the electronics module is still in the cavity of the handle portion. Additionally or alternatively, a receiving area for a memory card (eg MicroSD or the like) can be provided at the first end, with the aid of which determined data can be transferred to another device without removing the electronics module from the grip section. Particularly preferably, the grip portion of the ball game racket is designed such that an external component can be connected to the communication interface of the electronic insert or the housing without removing the grip cap from the grip portion of the ball game racket. By way of example, the grip cap can have a corresponding opening for the passage of a USB memory or connection, which can preferably be closed. It is also particularly preferred that the handle cap is part of the electronics module or of the housing. Thus, at the first end of the housing, a lid or portion may be provided which is adapted to serve as a handle cap for the ball game racket. Particularly preferably, the housing of the electronic insert and the handle cap of the ball game racket or for the ball game rackets are integrally formed, for. B. injection molded as a piece. In this preferred embodiment, the communication interface is preferably provided in the handle cap. For example, there is a USB port in the handle cap for connecting the electronics module to a USB memory, a laptop or a smartphone. Additionally or alternatively, the housing may include at the first end a device (or parts thereof) for wireless communication, e.g. B. for WLAN, Bluetooth or the like. The first end of the housing or the integral handle cap is then preferably designed such that the wireless communication through the first end of the housing or the handle cap is not or only slightly absorbed or damped. For this purpose, the first end of the housing or the handle cap may have corresponding openings and / or be formed from a corresponding continuous material and / or be formed particularly thin-walled.

The housing for the electronics module is preferably suitable for receiving a power supply, for example a rechargeable battery or a battery. Preferably, this is the case at the first end of the housing, a corresponding opening, so that the battery or the battery can be replaced without removing the electronics module from the cavity of the handle portion. According to the invention, an electrical connection is provided at the first end of the housing, by means of which the battery or the battery can be recharged. According to the invention, the battery or the battery or the corresponding connection is accessible for charging without the handle cap having to be removed from the grip portion of the ball game racket. The housing may additionally or alternatively have one or more receiving areas for memory cards, which are also preferably provided at the first end of the housing or the electronics module.

The set according to the invention consisting of ball game racket, ground insert and electronic insert offers several advantages over the prior art. On the one hand, the electronics insert according to the invention is easily replaceable, so that the electronics module can be replaced by an alternative or better electronics module or z. B. for an update can be removed at short notice. In addition, the electronic insert according to the invention is particularly easy to access and allows easy communication with both existing in the ball game racket components such. As sensors, as well as with external devices such. As storage media, PC, laptop, tablet PC and smartphone. Housing the electronics in a sturdy housing protects the electronics of the electronics module even when the insert is not in the cavity of the handle portion. An integral use of housing and handle cap is particularly easy to insert and replace.

The present invention is further directed to a ball game racket that can be retrofitted with an electronics insert according to the invention. This ball game racket invention has a corresponding cavity for receiving the electronics module. Further, according to the invention, a replacement or ground insert is provided, which can be accommodated in the cavity and ensures that the ball game racket according to the invention behaves during the game as well as a ball game racket with built-in electronic insert.

The cavity is designed such that both the mass insert and the electronics insert described above can be received in a predetermined position at a predetermined position in the cavity and held with this orientation at this position. The mass insert has substantially the same dimensions and weight as the electronics insert to ensure that the weight distribution of the ball insert with inserted mass insert is substantially identical to that of the ball insert with inserted electronic insert. In other words, the mass of the electronic insert or its distribution is optimally matched to the associated ball game rackets, so that this has optimal playing characteristics with introduced electronics insert. The mass insert, which may alternatively be introduced in the handle portion when no electronics module is used, has the same properties in this regard, so that the racket can be played with inserted mass use exactly as with inserted electronics insert. This means that a later upgrade of the racket by an electronic insert according to the invention does not change the playing characteristics.

It is preferred that the cavity has a damping material which is suitable for protecting the oscillator from shocks. This damping material may comprise one or a combination of the following materials: foam, elastomers, thermoplastic elastomers, Polyurethane, plastic with an E-modulus below 1000 MPa. Preferred is a large part the inner surface of the cavity and more preferably the entire inner surface of the cavity lined with the damping material. The layer thickness of the damping material and the dimensions of the electronics insert (or the mass insert) are chosen such that a precise insertion of the electronics or mass use in the cavity of the handle portion is possible.

The storage for the electronics insert preferably forms a mechanical filter for vibrations, in particular a low-pass filter. By selecting suitable damping materials and corresponding layer thicknesses of the damping material, the cutoff frequencies of such a low-pass filter can be set such that the signal to be measured by the sensors reaches the sensors within the electronics module, but noise is suppressed with the aid of the low-pass filter. In this preferred embodiment, the storage of the electronics module would already contribute to the signal conditioning and accordingly form part of the measurement technique.

The electronics or mass use preferably has a volume of at least 3 cm 3 , more preferably of at least 5 cm 3 and particularly preferably of at least 10 cm 3 . The electronics or mass insert preferably has a length between 4 cm and 16 cm, more preferably between 6 cm and 14 cm and particularly preferably between 8 cm and 12 cm. The electronics or mass insert preferably has a width between 15 mm and 35 mm, more preferably between 15 mm and 30 mm and particularly preferably between 18 mm and 22 mm. The electronics or mass insert preferably has a height of 10 mm and 30 mm, more preferably between 12 mm and 26 mm and particularly preferably between 14 mm and 22 mm. The electronics or mass use preferably has a weight between 10 g and 100 g, more preferably between 20 g and 60 g, and particularly preferably between 25 g and 45 g.

Of course, in the sets according to the invention, the electronics or ground insert can be arranged in the cavity.

The mass insert preferably also has a housing, preferably an injection-molded plastic housing. It is further preferred that the mass insert is integrally connected to the handle cap of the ball game racket. Particularly preferably, the housing of the mass insert and the handle cap are injection-molded in one piece. The case of the Mass application may be suitable for receiving different masses with different mass distribution. Preferably, the mass insert or the cavity is formed such that the mass insert with the cavity releasably locked or otherwise engaged.

The set according to the invention offers various advantages over the prior art. Since the cost of an electronics module, depending on its performance can not be completely irrelevant, a player can first opt for a ball game racket, which is in principle capable of receiving a corresponding electronics insert, but this first equipped with a mass deployment. At a later time then the desired electronics module can be purchased and the mass use can be easily replaced by the electronics module. With the help of the sets according to the invention, it is also possible that, for example, a tennis club holds a racket with electronics insert in stock and members of the club have a corresponding racket with mass application. The members can then temporarily, z. B. during training hours, replace the mass use in their racket by an electronics module and, for example, perform a corresponding analysis of their playing techniques. Subsequently, the electronics module can be easily removed again and replaced by a mass insert. Since the electronics insert and the mass insert are substantially identical in terms of dimensions, mass and mass distribution, the play characteristics of the racquet do not change with this replacement.

The invention relates to a set of a ball game racket, an electronic insert as described above and a mass insert as described above, wherein the electronics insert and the mass insert can be exchanged without changing the specifications of the ball game racket. In particular, the total bat mass, its balance and / or its so-called "swingweight" should remain constant during the exchange.

Die Figuren 1 bis 3 zeigen (zumindest teilweise) das erfindungsgemäße Set.The FIGS. 1 to 3 show (at least partially) the set according to the invention.

The ball game racket basically has a head section for receiving a covering, of which here only in FIG. 2 the projections of the two arms 5a and 5b are shown, and a handle portion 1. The handle portion 1 has a cavity 3 for interchangeable receiving an electronics module 2. The cavity 3 is designed such that the electronics module 2 can be accommodated with a predetermined orientation in a predetermined position in the cavity 3 and held with this orientation at this position. In the illustrated preferred embodiment, this is done inter alia by the fact that the cross-sectional profile of the electronics module 2 is not rotationally symmetrical, but in the illustrated example has an octagonal shape. In this case, the cavity 3 forming wall sections of the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket correspond with their shape with the outer shape of the electronic insert 2 preferably such that the electronics module 2 can be inserted accurately into the cavity 3. Due to the lack of rotational symmetry, the electronics insert 2 can not rotate within the cavity 3, which ensures that the signal of a gyro sensor present in the electronics insert, for example, corresponds to the orientation of the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket.

In this case, the internal shape of the electronics module does not have to correspond to the outer shape of the grip portion 1, as in the embodiment shown. Rather, the cross section of the cavity 3 and the electronic insert 2 may have a completely different shape and size than the outer contour of the handle portion 1. An example of this is the preferred embodiment of FIG. 4 in which the grip portion 1 of the ball game racket is foamed with PU foam 6. Within this foam 6 is formed by a wall 7, which may for example consist of carbon fiber composite, a cavity 3, which is approximately rectangular in the case of the embodiment shown. Accordingly, the electronic insert (not shown) adapted for this cavity 3 has a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape.

At the handle cap-side end of the electronics module 2, a communication interface 4 is preferably provided. This may be, for example, a USB connector, via which the electronics module 2 can be connected to an external device. In addition or instead, a plug connection can be provided with the aid of which a battery located in the electronics module 2 can be charged. This is preferably also possible via the USB port.

Preferably, the cavity 3 or the cavity 3 forming wall portions of the handle portion 1 on a damping material which is adapted to protect the electronics insert 2 from vibrations that usually occur during the game of ball game racket. This damping material 8, as in the preferred embodiment of FIG. 5 shown, only be provided in sections and preferably be arranged in particular in those areas of the cavity 3, where the two ends of the electronics module 2 are in the inserted state. In this way, the electronics module 2 can be stably stored and protected against shock particularly effective. Preferably, the damping material 8 is also arranged such that it, as in FIG. 5 shown, the electronic insert 2 against movements in the bat longitudinal axis absorbs or dampens. Preferably, another damping material between the in FIG. 5 Not shown handle cap and the electronics module 2 is provided.

The electronics module 2 of in FIG. 5 In addition to a processor and a memory, the preferred embodiment shown also contains the sensors necessary for the respective application and therefore requires no connection with further electronics in the ball game racket.

According to a further preferred embodiment, in FIG. 6 is shown, are only parts of the electronics in the electronics module 2, whereas at least one sensor in the ball game racket, preferably fixed, is mounted. This sensor can also be permanently mounted in the handle portion or in the head portion of the ball game racket, which in the context of the present invention also includes the heart area with the two arms and any bridge. In this embodiment, mutually engaging parts of an electrically conductive connection 9 are provided at the head end of the electronics insert and within the handle portion, which allow to electrically connect the electronics insert with the sensor and optionally further electronics in the ball game racket. For this example, a connector 9 may be attached to a corresponding location in the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket, of the one or more cables 10 to the / the sensor (s) and / or other electronics, such. As antennas lead.

According to a preferred embodiment, the plug connection 9 serves not only the electrical contact but also a mechanical connection of the electronic insert 2 with the handle portion 1 and / or a stabilization or fixation. Thus, for example, the damping material 8, which may be provided on the inner wall of the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket, secure the oscillator 2 against a relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle portion radial dislocation or displacement or optionally simultaneously the electronics module 2 in this direction against vibration dampen. The damping material 8 can for this purpose, as in FIG. 6 represented, for example, be provided in the form of two rings or substantially cover the entire inner wall of the handle portion 1 forming the cavity 3. Alternatively, a plurality of strips of damping material 8 aligned in the longitudinal direction of the grip section 1 can be distributed around the circumference of the cavity 3, preferably regularly. Preferably, the damping material 8 has no pure damping function, but rather serves as a low-pass filter for vibration, so that the movements of the racquet to be measured as Signal arrive at the sensors located in the electronics insert, while noise or otherwise unwanted signals from the damping material are filtered. Along the longitudinal axis of the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket, a mechanical fixation and optionally an attenuation can preferably take place through the connection 9. The two complementary parts of the connection 9 can then lock, for example, when inserting the electronics insert into the cavity 3 releasably with each other. Alternatively, here also a thread for screwing a connecting portion may be provided on the electronics insert in a connecting portion in the handle portion or a connection by means of a bayonet, click or snap closure or the like.

The end of the handle portion is covered with a so-called handle cap 11, as for example in FIG. 7 is shown. In the present invention, such a handle cap 11 preferably closes the cavity 3, and preferably the attached handle cap 11 contributes to holding the electronics module 2 in a predetermined position with a predetermined orientation. For this example, the handle cap-side end of the electronics module 2, as shown in FIG. 7 is shown, extend beyond the handle portion 1 and be precisely embedded in the handle cap 11. Also, the handle cap 11 may for this purpose have a damping material that is suitable to protect the electronics module 2 from vibrations that occur during the game of the ball game racket. Preferably, such damping material is also provided between the lid 12 of the handle cap 11 and the handle cap-side end of the electronics module 2.

The handle cap 11 and the electronics module 2 can represent separate parts. Preferably, however, the handle cap 11 and the electronics module 2 are connected to each other or integrally formed, as for example in the embodiment in FIG. 9 is shown. This has the advantage that the insertion of the electronics insert into the cavity of the handle portion and the application of the handle cap require no separate steps, but with one and the same movement of the electronics module 2 can be inserted into the cavity 3 of the handle portion 1 and the handle cap 11 the cavity 3 closes, at the same time stabilizes the electronics module 2 with a predetermined orientation in a predetermined position and the handle cap 11 is fixed. The fixation the handle cap 11 on the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket is preferably carried out by a locking of the handle cap 11 with corresponding projections or the like on the handle portion 1. A particularly preferred technique for corresponding fixation of the handle cap 11 on the handle portion 1 of the ball game racket is described in detail in the DE 10 2009 058 896 A1 whose contents are hereby fully incorporated by reference.

Another preferred alternative to the simultaneous mechanical stabilization of the electronic insert 2 in the cavity 3 of the handle portion 1 of a ball game racket and the electrical connection of the electronic insert with provided in the ball game rack electronics is in FIG. 9 shown. Here, the connection is formed by a spring contact 13, on the one hand produces electrical contact between electronics in the ball game racket and a corresponding contact surface at the head end of the electronic insert and on the other hand with the help of the spring 13 immanenten spring force the electronics insert 2 against the lid 12 of the handle cap 11 presses , Preferably, a damping material 8 is provided between the cover 12 of the handle cap 11 and the handle cap-side end of the electronic insert 2. As a result, the electronics module 2 is effectively protected against vibrations along the longitudinal axis of the handle portion 1.

At the handle cap-side end of the electronics module 2, as in FIG. 8 is exemplified, various communication interfaces 4 and 14 may be provided. This may be, for example, a USB port 4, by means of which the electronics module 2 can be connected to an external device. Alternatively or additionally, a device 14 for wireless configuration may be present, for example for connection to external devices via WLAN and / or Bluetooth. By attaching the communication interfaces 4 and 14 on griffkappenseitigem end of the electronics module 2, a corresponding communication with external devices is also possible when the electronics module 2 is received in the cavity 3 of the handle portion 1. In this case, the cover 12 of the handle cap 11 is preferably designed such that the wireless communication with the communication device 14 can take place through the cover 12.

It is further preferred that a user interface is provided on the handle cap side, which is suitable for communicating visually (eg with the aid of LEDs, a display or the like) and / or acoustically (eg with the aid of a loudspeaker) with a user. With Help of such a user interface can give specific instructions to the player (such as now blow perform ") or transmit results of the evaluation of the measured data to the player (eg" good shot ").
