  • the handstrap modular accessory 1310 includes a base plate 1314, a grip 1318 rotatably coupled to the base plate 1314, and an elastic strap 1322 coupled to the grip 1318.
  • the handstrap modular accessory 1310 is connected to the bottom housing portion 121 by threaded fasteners 1326 (e.g., screws).
  • the handstrap modular accessory 1310 is secured to the bottom housing portion 121 by threaded fasteners 1326 extending from inside the housing to engage the base plate 1314.
  • the fasteners 1326 cannot be engaged, and thereby tightened or loosened, when the housing is engaged with a portable device. Accordingly, the fasteners 1326 may not be disengaged without disengaging the security bar 141 from the top and bottom housing portions 121, 122.
  • the handstrap modular accessory 1310 can be coupled and secured to the bottom housing portion 122 using a hook engagement assembly, similar to the hook engagement assembly of the kickstand modular accessory 150 described above.
  • FIG. 14 shows the security apparatus fully engaged with the handstrap modular accessory 1310.
  • Embodiments of the present invention provide a number of advantages, including providing protective case that enables a user to support mobile physical security for an otherwise unsecurable form factor without the use of permanent adhesive additions. Additionally, the customizable modular design supports a wide range of combinations and choices for the best possible fit to a consumer's or user's application or needs. Furthermore, embodiments of the present invention provide a user with means to secure portable electronic devices with a fast and secure cable lock assembly, engaged with a single "click" supporting both key and combination locks. Finally, the minimalist, low profile, and ultra-slim footprint protective case is also a "portable" or readily mobile security case product solution that supports the inherent mobility of the portable electronic device. The security apparatus also provides deterrent security by deterring potential thieves through the secured look and feel of the device. Additionally, the present invention may be used with many different types of locks including KensingtonTM ClickSafeTM Combo and Keyed locks.

Claims (10)

  1. Eine Sicherheitsvorrichtung zum Sichern einer tragbaren Vorrichtung (110), wobei die Sicherheitsvorrichtung umfasst:
    ein Gehäuse, das
    einen ersten Gehäuseabschnitt (121), der konfiguriert ist, um einen ersten Abschnitt der tragbaren Vorrichtung teilweise zu umgeben, und
    einen zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt (122) aufweist, der konfiguriert ist, um einen zweiten Abschnitt der tragbaren Vorrichtung teilweise zu umgeben, wobei der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt selektiv an dem ersten Gehäuseabschnitt gesichert ist, wenn das Gehäuse mit der tragbaren Vorrichtung in Eingriff steht; und
    ein modulares Zubehör (130, 160, 150, 1310), das mit dem Gehäuse gekoppelt ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Sicherheitsvorrichtung ferner eine sich vom Gehäuse erstreckende Befestigungsvorrichtung (123) umfasst, wobei die Befestigungsvorrichtung konfiguriert ist, um mit einem Verriegelungskopf (1020) in Eingriff zu kommen; und
    wobei das modulare Zubehör (130, 160, 150, 1310) mit dem Gehäuse verbindbar ist, bevor oder nachdem der erste und der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt (121, 122) miteinander verbunden sind, um die tragbare Vorrichtung (110) zu umgeben, und das modulare Zubehör (130, 160, 150, 1310) nur dann aus dem Gehäuse entfernbar ist, wenn der erste und zweite Gehäuseabschnitt (121, 122) von der tragbaren elektronischen Vorrichtung (110) getrennt sind.
  2. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das modulare Zubehör (130, 160, 150, 1310) durch eine Schnappverbindungsanordnung am Gehäuse befestigt ist.
  3. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Schnappverbindungsanordnung
    ein erstes Eingriffselement (131A), das sich von dem Gehäuse oder dem modularen Zubehör erstreckt, wobei das erste Eingriffselement betreibbar ist, um mit einem ersten Eingriffspunkt (124A) am anderen Ende des Gehäuses oder des modularen Zubehörs in Eingriff zu kommen, und
    ein zweites Eingriffselement (131B) aufweist, das sich von dem Gehäuse oder dem modularen Zubehörs erstreckt, wobei das zweite Eingriffselement vom ersten Eingriffselement beabstandet ist und betreibbar ist, um mit einem zweiten Eingriffspunkt (124B) am anderen Ende des Gehäuses und des modularen Zubehörs in Eingriff zu kommen,
    wobei die ersten und zweiten Eingriffselemente zusammendrückbar sind, um den ersten und zweiten Eingriffspunkt zu lösen, und wobei die ersten und zweiten Eingriffselemente unzugänglich sind, wenn der erste und der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt miteinander verbunden sind, um die tragbare Vorrichtung zu umgeben.
  4. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 3, die eines oder mehrere der folgenden Merkmale aufweist:
    - das modulare Zubehör beinhaltet ein Leistungskabelmodul (130), und wobei sich die ersten und zweiten Eingriffselemente vom Leistungskabelmodul erstrecken und mit den ersten und zweiten Eingriffspunkten am ersten Gehäuseabschnitt in Eingriff kommen;
    - das modulare Zubehör beinhaltet ein Bezahlvorrichtungslesemodul (160), und wobei sich die ersten und zweiten Eingriffselemente von dem Bezahlvorrichtungslesemodul erstrecken und mit dem ersten und zweiten Eingriffspunkt an dem zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt in Eingriff kommen.
  5. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das modulare Zubehör durch eine Hakeneingriffsanordnung am Gehäuse befestigt ist.
  6. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 5, wobei die Hakeneingriffsanordnung ein Hakenelement (152A, 152B) beinhaltet, das sich von dem Gehäuse oder dem modularen Zubehör erstreckt, wobei das Hakenelement betreibbar ist, um mit einem Eingriffspunkt (125A, 125B) am anderen Ende des Gehäuses und des modularen Zubehörs in Eingriff zu kommen,
    eine mit dem Hakenelement gekoppelte Freigabeanordnung (151A, 151B), wobei die Freigabeanordnung betreibbar ist, um das Hakenelement von dem Eingriffspunkt zu lösen, und
    eine Verriegelungsanordnung (153), die betreibbar ist, um die Bewegung der Freigabeanordnung selektiv zu verhindern, wobei die Freigabeanordnung unzugänglich ist, wenn der erste und der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt zusammen befestigt sind, um die tragbare Vorrichtung zu umgeben.
  7. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 6, wobei das modulare Zubehör ein Ständermodul (150) beinhaltet, wobei sich das Hakenelement vom Ständermodul erstreckt, um mit dem Eingriffspunkt am ersten Gehäuseabschnitt in Eingriff zu kommen, und wobei die Freigabeanordnung und die Verriegelungsanordnung durch das Ständermodul getragen werden.
  8. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, ferner umfassend eine Sicherheitsstange (141), die eine Durchgangsöffnung (142) definiert, wobei die Sicherheitsstange (141) mit dem ersten Gehäuseabschnitt (121) und dem zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt (122) in Eingriff kommt, um den ersten und zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt zusammen zu sichern, und wobei sich die Befestigungsvorrichtung (123) durch die Durchgangsöffnung (142) der Sicherheitsstange (141) erstreckt.
  9. Die Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach Anspruch 8, wobei das modulare Zubehör (130, 160, 150, 1310) nicht aus dem Gehäuse entfernt werden kann, ohne die Sicherungsstange (141) vom ersten und zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt (121, 122) zu lösen.
  10. Ein Sicherheitssystem, umfassend:
    eine tragbare Vorrichtung (110), z.B. einen Tablet-Computer; eine Sicherheitsvorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 8-9, wobei:
    der erste Gehäuseabschnitt einen ersten Abschnitt der tragbaren Vorrichtung teilweise umgibt, und der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt einen zweiten Abschnitt der tragbaren Vorrichtung teilweise umgibt, wobei der zweite Gehäuseabschnitt mit dem ersten Gehäuseabschnitt gekoppelt ist, so dass das Gehäuse mit der tragbaren Vorrichtung in Eingriff ist,
    die Sicherheitsstange, die mit dem ersten Gehäuseabschnitt und dem zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt in Eingriff ist, um den ersten und zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt miteinander zu verbinden,
    das modulare Zubehör kann nicht aus dem Gehäuse entfernt werden, ohne die Sicherungsstange vom ersten und zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt zu lösen; und
    die Sicherheitsvorrichtung beinhaltet einen Verriegelungskopf (1020), der an der Befestigungsvorrichtung sicher befestigt ist, um das Entfernen der Sicherungsstange von dem ersten und zweiten Gehäuseabschnitt zu verhindern, wobei der Verriegelungskopf konfiguriert ist, um an einem unbeweglichen Objekt (1202) befestigt zu werden.
