Theslide slots 70 allow thewings 60 of theslide 50 to move linearly. - The first
resilient member 18 is connected between thefirst lug 42a and thefirst side wall 26a. Preferably, the firstresilient member 18 is a torsion spring pivotably connected to thefirst lug 42a and is covered by thecover 72 of thehousing 52 as shown inFig. 4 . - The second
resilient member 20 is connected between thesecond lug 42b and thesecond side wall 26b. Preferably, the secondresilient member 20 is a torsion spring pivotably connected to thesecond lug 42b and is covered by thecover 72 of thehousing 52 as shown inFig. 4 . - The
first pin 22 is a U-shaped pin. Two ends of thefirst pin 22 extend through the first andsecond holes third hole 36c and the first throughhole 46a respectively so as to be connected to thearm 14 and the firstresilient member 18. The firstresilient member 18 provides a first force to thearm 14. - The
second pin 24 is a U-shaped pin. Two ends of thesecond pin 24 extend through the fourth andfifth holes second pin 24 extends through the second throughhole 46b and is connected with the secondresilient member 20. The secondresilient member 20 provides a second force to thearm 14. - As shown in
Fig. 4 , theinstallation member 12 is installed to thecabinet 76, and thehinge cup 10 is connected to thedoor 78. When thedoor 78/arm 14 is moved toward a closed position relative to thecabinet 76/hinge cup 10 (shown inFigs. 5 and6 ), thearm 14 pushes theslide 50 which moves thepiston rod 56 to slowly retract into the dampingmember 48 to have a damping function. Therefore, thedoor 78 is slowly and quietly closed to thecabinet 76. In the meanwhile, thewings 60 of theslide 50 are separated from the first andsecond lugs Fig. 6 shows that one of thewings 60 is separated from thefirst lug 42a), and thestop 38 of thehinge cup 10 is moved away from therecess 58 of theslide 50. - As shown in
Fig. 7 , when thearm 14 is spread out relative to thehinge cup 10 at an open position, thepiston rod 56 of the dampingmember 48 extends and moves theslide 50 until thewings 60 of theslide 50 contact the first andsecond lugs wings 60 contacts thefirst lug 42a). Simultaneously, thestop 38 of thehinge cup 10 is engaged with therecess 58 of theslide 50, so that theslide 50 is located at a position wherein theslide 50 can be pushed relative to thearm 14 to generate the damping function. - The damping
device 16 is installed to thehinge cup 10 by the configuration that the engagingportion 54 of the dampingmember 48 extends through theopening 64 of thehousing 52 and is engaged with thepositioning hole 40 of therear wall 32. Further, the at least one second engagingpart 68 of thehousing 52 is engaged with the first engagingpart 44 on thebottom wall 28 of thehinge cup 10 so as to position the dampingdevice 16 to thehinge cup 10. During the damping process, thewings 60 of theslide 50 are linearly movable in theslide slots 70 of thehousing 52 so as to provide smooth and stable damping force. Accordingly, when thearm 14 contacts theslide 50 or when thearm 14 is closing toward thehinge cup 10, the dampingdevice 16 provides stable damping travel. - It is noted that the travel distance of the damping
device 16 can be adjustable. As shown inFigs. 8 and9 , in another embodiment, thehinge cup 10 has aguide groove 80. Theguide groove 80 is located in thebottom wall 28 of thehinge cup 10 and substantially perpendicular to therear wall 32 of thehinge cup 10. Thehousing 52 has areception slot 82 which communicates with theroom 62. The dampingmember 48 has a threadedportion 84, aguide portion 86 and anadjustment member 88. The threadedportion 84 is located corresponding to thepositioning hole 40 of therear wall 32 of thehinge cup 10. The threadedportion 84 of the dampingmember 48 partially extends through thepositioning hole 40. Theguide portion 86 extends through theguide groove 80, so that the dampingmember 48 is linearly movable relative to thehinge cup 10. Theadjustment member 88 is located in thereception slot 82 of thehousing 52 and is movably and threadedly connected to the threadedportion 84. Theadjustment member 88 is partially exposed from thereception slot 82 of thehousing 52. By this way, the dampingmember 48 is linearly movable linearly in theroom 62. - As shown in
Figs. 10 and11 , when theadjustment member 88 is rotated in a certain rotating direction, the dampingmember 48 moves to a first position relative to thehinge cup 10 in response to the rotation of theadjustment member 88, so that relative position of theslide 50 to thearm 14 can also be changed. Consequently, the impact angle, thearm 14 hits theslide 50 to generate the damping function when thearm 14 is pivoted to close thehinge cup 10, can be adjusted. The damping function is executed when thedoor 78 is located at the angle α relative to the cabinet 76 (asFig. 10 shown), so that thedoor 78 is slowly and quietly closed within the range of the angle α. When theadjustment member 88 is further rotated in the certain rotating direction, the dampingmember 48 moves to a second position relative to the hinge cup 10 (asFig. 11 shown), thearm 14 is pivoted toward thecabinet 76, the impact angle is changed from the angle α to angle β. Therefore, when thedoor 78 is being closed toward thecabinet 76 and the angle therebetween is within the range of the angle β, the damping function is executed so that thedoor 78 is slowly and quietly closed within the range of the angle β. - As shown in
Fig. 12 , the dampingfunction 16 is shut off when theadjustment member 88 is rotated to move the dampingmember 48 to a third position relative to thehinge cup 10. Wherein, theslide 50 is moved away from thearm 14, so that when thearm 14 is located at the complete closed position relative to thehinge cup 10, thearm 14 does not touch theslide 50. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
