Abstract

Embodiments of the invention provide a thin film solar cell module comprising: a lower substrate (121, 221), a thin film solar cell (120, 220) comprising a rear electrode layer (122, 222), a light absorption layer (124, 224) arranged over the rear electrode layer, and a transparent electrode layer (128, 228) arranged over the light absorption layer. In such embodiments, a protective layer (140, 240) is formed on the thin film solar cell, and a cover substrate (160, 260) is disposed over the protective layer. In such embodiments, the protective layer is formed of a moisture absorbing material. In some embodiments, a refractive index of the protective layer is between a refractive index of the cover substrate and a refractive index of the transparent electrode layer.
