Description

Domaine technique de l'inventionTechnical field of the invention

The invention relates to the field of construction with glass panels assembled together to make facades or glazed walls of buildings. These tempered glass panels may have various shapes, including quadrangular or triangular, and are pierced with orifices cooperating with fasteners mechanically connecting them to a bearing structure forming part of the frame of the construction.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

Fixing devices for these glass panels or glazings must be arranged to meet the different types of fixing points specified according to the rules of the VEA (Attached Exterior Glass) of the CSTB notebook 3574. Tempered glass panels can be either monolithic 6 to 15 mm thick or laminated with PVB spacers and an inner and outer component 6 to 15 mm thick. The fastening elements comprise from one to four retaining branches having at their ends cylindrical or oblong holes for the passage of rods through the orifices of the glass panels, and a central bore for the passage of a stud or a screw for fixing the fastening element on the frame.

The functional clearances provided at the level of the fastening elements and the point fasteners must allow relative movements of the glass panels relative to their attachment points without causing mechanical stresses in the glass. These constraints can indeed occur in case of wind reaction or snow accumulation on the surface of the panels, and also as a result of differential thermal expansion of the frame or glazing; and differential movements of the fastening elements.

Glazing is either supported or suspended. Each glazing is generally maintained by two bearing points for the recovery of weight, allowing a set of expansion. In the case of a quadrangular suspended glass, the upper part is provided with a fixed point and a dilating point. At the bottom, the other two attachment points are free and allow play in all directions in the plane of the glass.

In the case of a supported glass, the fixed and dilatant points are in the lower part of the glass, and the free fixing points in the upper part.

Les documents DE 199 38 571 , DE 197 03 298 et DE 100 18 929 montrent ces différents points de fixation pour les panneaux de verre selon le préambule de la revendication 1.The documents DE 199 38 571 , DE 197 03 298 and DE 100 18 929 show these different fixing points for the glass panels according to the preamble of claim 1.

Any other form of glass can be used. A glass may have more than four attachment points. In this case, a fixed point, a dilating point, and the rest in free points are provided.

The branch or branches of the fastening elements comprise, depending on the type of rod used:
  • a cylindrical hole with a diameter of 17mm to constitute the fixed point,
  • a horizontal oblong hole with a diameter of 17 mm and a length of 24 mm to form the dilating point in translation,
  • either two cylindrical holes 24mm in diameter for the free points.

To guard against the risk of displacement of the fastening elements under the weight of the glazing during the implementation or in case of accidental breakage of a glazing unit, it has already been proposed to immobilize them in rotation by specific mechanical means, by example using high tensile bolts with controlled tightening, pins, or keys. The use of such locking means complicates the system for fixing the glass panels on the framework.

In case of use of the aforementioned fastening elements, an additional adjusting device is necessary to accurately position the fastening element with respect to the support structure.

If single screws are used instead of the above-mentioned fastening elements, it is essential to reproduce the different fixing holes in the support structure in order to allow the expansion movements. The adjustment system must be integrated into the support structure, which complicates the manufacture.

In these different cases of mounting, the glass is provided in a known manner with a plurality of circular orifices for the passage of the fastening means.

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

The object of the invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, to improve the fastening system and the mounting of glazing, and to simplify the manufacture of the carrier structure.

Pour ce faire, l'invention propose un système de fixation selon la revendication 1.To do this, the invention proposes a fastening system according to claim 1.

The glass panel has identical cutout orifices, for example four in the case of a square or rectangular glass panel, for the housing of the positioning inserts reproducing the different attachment points. Any other form of glass panel is possible, just predict the number of orifices.

The cutouts of the openings of the glazing are provided with a boss to ensure an anti-rotation effect of the positioning inserts during tightening.

The adjustment system is thus included in the orifices of the glass, which simplifies the manufacture of the support structure, and the mounting, because a single threaded hole is sufficient in the structure to allow the proper operation of the system.

Two types of glass laying are possible according to the invention as a function of an internal arrangement, or of an external arrangement VEA (outer glass attached):
  • For placement of the glass in an interior arrangement, the various fixing points are essentially used for adjustment during the placement of the glass panels. For a quadrangular panel, one can provide two points dilating in translation, and two other free points. Locking is carried out after adjustment by means of a screw.
  • For placing the glass in an external arrangement VEA, the various fixing points allow a recovery of the positioning dispersions during assembly, and a freedom of movement of the glass panel subjected to differential displacements of the framework and the expansion of the structure. 'together. The glass is thus insensitive to the mechanical stresses generated by these disturbances. For a quadrangular panel, one can provide a fixed attachment point, a dilatant point in translation, and two other free points.

According to one characteristic of the invention, the positioning insert has a thickness less than that of the glass panel. The insert cooperates advantageously with a tubular spacer surrounding a socket of the fastener element to allow the necessary freedom of movement to the glass panel. The spacer is either slightly longer than the thickness of the glass in the case of a VEA, is shorter or absent in the case of an interior arrangement.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the positioning insert for dilating points comprises an oblong internal hole, and angular orientation means of said insert in the orifice.

The invention can be applied to a monolithic or laminated glass panel. The positioning inserts are made of plastic or metal, in particular aluminum.

Description d'un mode particulier de réalisationDescription of a particular embodiment

With reference to Figures 1 to 6 relating to an arrangement for outdoor use VEA, a device 10 for attaching a glass panel 11 to a fixed support structure 12, comprises a fastening element 13 and an anti-rotation system made in the glass. The carrier structure 12 is part of the frame of the construction, and is constituted as an example by a set of uprights and metal sleepers.

The glass panel 11 is a toughened glazing that can be of the monolithic type ( Figures 5 and 6 ) or laminated ( figures 1 , 3 and 4 ). An orifice 14 is drilled and chamfered at each angle of the quadrangular glass panel 11, and has a cutout of specific shape constituting the anti-rotation system.

On the monolithic glass of Figures 5 and 6 , the cutout of the orifice 14 is circular of diameter D1 over most of the periphery, but has an arc returning to the remaining part by constituting a boss 15. It is the presence of this boss 15 which is the anti-rotation system made in the orifice 14 of the glass.

In the case of laminated glass Figures 3 and 4 , a spacer 30 of transparent plastic material is housed and glued between two glass layers of the panel 11. The orifice 14 with boss 15 is present in one of the layers, while the other glass layer has a circular hole 16 over its entire periphery, with a diameter D2 greater than that D1 of the orifice 14. The anti-rotation system is thus produced in the orifice 14 of diameter D1 of one layers of glass.

The specific shape of the orifice 14 in the glass is able to ensure the locking in rotation of a positioning insert 17 ( Figures 1 and 2 ), which is housed in the orifice 14 and designed to respond to the different points of attachment of a glass panel according to the rules of the VEA defined in the 3574 of the CSBT. The positioning insert 17 is made for example of aluminum or plastic, and has a thickness slightly less than that of the glass panel 11. It cooperates with a tubular spacer 18 surrounding a sleeve 13a of the fastening element 13 for leave the necessary freedom to the glass panel 11, and meet the constraints of functional play (movements of the structure 12), and mounting (positioning tolerances). For VEA mounting, the spacer is slightly longer than the thickness of the glass.

In a rectangular glass panel 11, the four orifices 14 pierced in the corners all have identical cutouts. It is the positioning inserts 17 which make it possible to reproduce in the orifices 14, the different points of attachment in accordance with the VEA (fixed, free, and dilatant point.

It is clear that the glass panels 11 may have different shapes, and have a different number of inserts receiving holes.

The Figures 7, 8A to 8D and 9 show a range of positioning inserts 17A, 17B and 17C able to achieve the various attachment points:
  • The figure 7 shows an insert 17A to form a fixed attachment point. The outer profile of this insert 17A corresponds to the circular cutout of the orifice 14, and has a notch 19 of shape conjugate to that of the boss 15 to ensure the locking in rotation. The inner hole 20A is circular with a diameter slightly smaller than the clearance close to that of the spacer 18.

The inserts 17B of the Figures 8A to 8D for dilating points have the same oblong internal holes 20B to ensure a translation adjustment. The outer profile is provided with one or more notches 19 for providing a predetermined angular orientation of the insert in the orifice 14. The insert 17B of the figure 8A is not orientable because it has only one notch 19. The other inserts of the Figures 8B, 8C and 8D are provided with several notches 19 distributed angularly around the periphery to allow respective orientations of 90 °, 30 ° and 60 °. Other forms of positioning inserts 17 are possible to respond to different orientation angles.

The insert 17C for free point of the figure 9 , has the same circular outer profile as that of the insert 17A of the figure 7 , but the inner hole 20C has a larger diameter, so as to allow movement in all directions.

For example, Figures 10a and 10b show the fitting of the insert 17B of the Figure 8B in the orifice 14 of the glass panel 11 to ensure a dilating point with orientation of the oblong hole at 90 °. In the position of the figure 10a , the oblong hole of the insert 17B is oriented to ensure a horizontal dilatant point. In the case of figure 10b , the orientation of the oblong hole is inclined at an angle of 90 ° to that of the figure 10a . A vertical dilatation point is thus obtained.

The figures 11 a and 11b illustrate another insert 17 with three notches 19 housed in the orifice 14 to define a dilatant point with possible orientation of the oblong hole at 120 ° or 30 °.

The figure 12 represents by way of example, a glass panel 11 for external mounting VEA. The glass has a rectangular or square shape, and is provided at each of the four corners of the same orifice 14 as that of the figures 3 or 5 . In the orifice 14 located at the top left, the insert 17A of the figure 7 to constitute the fixed point. In the orifice 14 located at the top right, the insert 17B of the figure 8A , or any other insert 17B orientable oblong hole, to define the dilatant point in translation in a specific direction. The insert 17C is positioned in the two orifices 14 of the bottom to ensure a pair of free points.

The figure 13 shows the assembly of several glass panels 11 of the figure 12 on the supporting structure 12, which consists of metal uprights attached to the building frame. Fixing is effected by means of a screw 22 or stud passing through the positioning and adjustment insert included in the glass of each orifice 14. A simple threaded hole 23 suffices in the structure 12 for screwing the screw 22. Fixing operations, manufacture of the structure 12, and mounting of the glass panels are thus simplified.

The figure 14 relates to a glass panel 11 for an interior fitting assembly. The glass has for example a rectangular or square shape, and is provided at each of the four corners of the same hole 14 as that of figures 3 or 5 . In each of the two orifices 14 at the top, the slot-shaped insert 17B is introduced to define two points which expand in translation. The insert 17C is positioned in the two orifices 14 of the bottom to ensure a pair of free points.

On the figure 15 , the glass panel 11 is fixed to the structure 12 by means of a screw 22. After adjustment in position in the corresponding insert 17B or 17C, the blocking is effected by tightening the screw 22, which is screwed directly into the threaded hole 23 of the structure 12.

In the case of a triangular shaped glass panel, two dilating fixing points and a free fixing point are used for an interior arrangement.

The cutouts of the orifices 14 of the glazing 11 have different shapes from those of the figures 3 and 5 and do not fall within the scope of the claims.

In a monolithic glass according to Figures 16 and 17 , the cutout of the orifice 14 is circular of diameter D1 over most of the periphery, but is provided with an outer recess 31 on the remaining part.

In a laminated glass according to the Figures 18 and 19 , the orifice 14 with the outer recess 31 is present in one of the layers of the laminated glass, while the other layer of glass has a circular hole 16 over its entire periphery, with a diameter D2 greater than that D1 of the orifice 14. The anti-rotation system is thus formed in the orifice 14 by the recess 31.

The Figures 20 and 21 show a monolithic glass with a cutout similar to that of Figures 16 and 17 but with a circular portion of diameter D3 with the recess 31, and a frustoconical milled portion of diameter D1.

The Figures 22 and 23 illustrate a laminated glass with a cutout similar to that of the figure 21 in one of the layers, while the other glass layer has a circular hole 16 over its entire periphery.

The Figures 24 and 25 represent the positioning insert 170 intended to be introduced into the orifice 14 of the glass of the Figures 20 to 23 . This insert 170 is composed of a cylindrical portion 32, capped by a frustoconical portion which fits into the cutout of the orifice 14. A pin 21 is intended to engage in the recess 31 of the glass to form the system anti-rotation preventing the insert 170 to rotate during tightening.

The Figures 26 to 28 show different uses of the insert 170 of Figures 24 and 25 :
  • The figure 26 represents an insert 170 flush in the orifice of the laminated glass of the figure 23 . The insert 170 is shorter than the thickness of the glass 11. The figure 27 shows an insert 170 also flush, but longer than that of the figure 26 with a locking nut 33.
  • The figure 28 illustrates a shorter insert 170 embedded in the thickness of the glass.

In the three mounting examples of Figures 26 to 28 there is no adjustment possibilities, and the pin 21 blocks the insert 170 in rotation.

La goupille 21 assure toujours le blocage en rotation lors du serrage de la vis 22.The Figures 29 and 30 show a possibility of adjustment with an insert 170 with oblong hole 20B as in the figure 8A . The pin 21 always ensures the locking in rotation when tightening the screw 22.
