Auf diese Weise wird verhindert, dass die Kontakte an ihren Leitungen unbeabsichtigt aus den einmal erreichten Endpositionen wieder zurückgezogen werden können. Zur Abfrage und Sicherstellung der korrekten Einstecktiefe der Kontakte wird am Ende der Bestückung die sogenannte Sekundärverriegelung geschlossen, durch die alle eingesteckten Kontakte entgegen der Bestückungsrichtung verriegelt sind. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt ist die Primärverrastung quasi überflüssig, da die von der Sekundärverriegelung bereitgestellte Haltesicherheit bzw.
