Description

The invention is based on a method for secondary locking of at least one primary contact in a contact chamber electrical contact according to the preamble of claim 1 and of an associated Kontaktverrastungssystem according to the preamble of claim 3.

At present, electrical plug systems are used in the automotive sector, in which the electrical contacts are struck (crimped) on electrical lines and then inserted individually into contact chambers of a contact chamber housing (contact carrier). At the end of Bestückungsweges engage the contacts in the contact chambers of the contact carrier. This so-called Primärverrastung done for example by resilient metal tongues of the contacts which engage behind a shoulder of the contact chambers against the loading direction, or by resilient elements of the contact chambers, which engage in corresponding recesses of the contacts. In this way it is prevented that the contacts on their lines can be unintentionally withdrawn from the once reached end positions again. To query and ensure the correct insertion depth of the contacts so-called secondary locking is closed at the end of the assembly, are locked by the all inserted contacts against the loading direction. From this point on, the primary latching is virtually superfluous, since the holding safety or holding force provided by the secondary latching system generally exceeds that of the primary latching system.

From the US 5189788 a connector system is known in which a plurality of contacts in a contact carrier are initially used loosely. Subsequently, the contacts are pushed so far into the contact carrier with a metal Verrastungshilfselement that they safely engage with locking lances inside the contact carrier primary. After completion of this Primärverrastungsvorgangs the Metallic Verrastungshilfselement is removed and through a secondary locking element Plastic replaced. The Primärverrastung by the locking lances inside the contact carrier is retained. US 5 989 059 A shows a Kontaktverrastungssystem according to the preamble of claim 1. Fig. 1 shows the loading process of a contact chamber housing 101 with electrical contacts 102 according to the prior art.
As in Fig. 1a 2, the contact 102, seen in the insertion direction 103, has a front contact section with contact blades 104 for contacting a contact pin (not shown), a rear connection section with a crimped electrical lead 105, and a lateral recess 106 on both sides. The contact chamber housing 101 has a double row of contact chambers 107 , of which in Fig. 1 only the respective front contact chambers of the two rows of contact chambers can be seen. The partition wall 108 of the contact carrier housing 101 located between the two rows of contact chambers has, for each contact chamber 107, in each case a resilient latching arm 113 with a latching hook ("chamber hook") 115 projecting laterally into the contact chamber 107.
The contacts 102 are inserted through an insertion opening 109 in the loading direction 103 in the contact chambers 107 ( Fig. 1b ). In this case, the respective latch arm 113 is laterally deflected against its elastic restoring force ( Fig. 1c ) until it then engages with its latching hook 115 into the recess 106 of the contact 102 when the contact 102 is fully inserted and engages behind the inserted contact 102 against the loading direction 103 ( Fig. 1d ). The contact 102 which is thus primarily latched in the contact chamber 107 is secured against withdrawal from the contact chamber 107. At the end of the assembly, when all the contact chambers 107 are equipped with contacts 102, a locking element 117 designed as a cross slide is used in the longitudinal direction of the contact chamber double row, in FIG Fig. 1 Thus, at right angles to the plane, moved, which engages behind all plugged contacts 102 in Bestückungsrichtung 103 ("secondarily locked") and thereby queries their correct insertion depth and ensures. From this point on, the primary latching is no longer necessary, since the holding safety or holding force provided by the secondary locking device clearly exceeds that of the primary latching system.

As in Fig. 2 are shown, the minimum possible row spacing (pitch) A 'of the two rows of contact chambers and thus the minimum possible width B' of the contact chamber housing 101 through the partition wall C ' predetermined, which in turn is required by the required for the primary detent deflection of the latch arms 113.

In contrast, it is the object of the invention to develop a method and a Kontaktverrastungssystem of the type mentioned in that the minimum possible row spacing (pitch) of adjacent rows of contact chambers can be further reduced.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The object is achieved by a method with the features of claim 1 and a Kontaktverrastungssystem with the features of claim 3.

According to the invention, it is proposed not to carry out the primary latching by a housing-side chamber hook, but from the outside through the contact chamber wall by means of a special external latching tool, which assumes the active contour and the mode of action of a chamber hook during the mounting process. After closing the secondary locking this locking tool is removed again, so that the contacts are then only secondary locked. With the invention, it is possible to dispense with each contact and each connector on special contours for the design of a Primärverrastung and thereby save space and material, and to gain constructive freedom for the design of contacts and contact chambers.

Preferably, the locking tool for each contact chamber on a spring-loaded Einzelrasthaken, which protrudes through the lateral opening of the contact chamber outer wall in the contact chamber. The Locking tool does not affect the mechanical and electrical testing of the contacts in the contact chambers and can be integrated, for example, in the assembly boards at the harness manufacturer.

Further advantages and advantageous embodiments of the subject invention are the description, the drawings and claims removed.

Beschreibung der AusführungsbeispieleDescription of the embodiments

In Fig. 3 the assembly process according to the invention of a contact chamber housing ("contact carrier") 1 with electrical contacts 2 is shown.

As well as in Fig. 4 As shown in FIG. 2, the electrical contact 2, viewed in the mounting direction 3, has a front contact section with contact blades 4 for contacting a contact pin (not shown), a rear connection section with a crimped electrical line 5 and an undercut 6 formed through the back of the contact 2 for one Primary latching on. The contact chamber housing 1 has a double row of contact chambers 7 , of which in Fig. 3 only the respective front contact chambers of the two rows of contact chambers can be seen. The contact chambers 7 of the two rows of contact chambers are separated from each other by a partition wall 8 of the contact chamber housing 1 and each have an insertion opening 9 . In the partition wall 8 opposite outer walls 10 of the contact chambers 7, a lateral wall opening 11 is provided in each case.

Before loading the contact chamber housing 1 with contacts 2, as in FIGS. 3a and 3b shown, the contact chamber housing 1 of the insertion openings 9 opposite side clamped by a locking tool 12 clasped. The locking tool 12 comprises two rows of first and second latching arms 13a, 13b, of which in Fig. 3 only the front one is visible. The first and second latching arms 13a, 13b are mounted about a common axis of rotation 14 and each have a latching hook 15 . The latching hooks 15 of the first and second latching arms 13a, 13b are each facing each other and biased towards each other by springs 16 .

The open against the restoring force of the springs 16 locking tool 12 surrounds the contact chamber housing 1 until the latching arms 13a, 13b with their latching hooks 15 from the outside in each case through the lateral wall opening 11 of the contact chamber outer wall 10 into the contact chambers 7 reach ( Fig. 3c ). Through the lateral wall opening 11 of the undercut 6 of the inserted contact 2 is accessible from the outside.

Subsequently, the contacts 2 are inserted through the insertion openings 9 in the loading direction 3 in the contact chambers 7 ( Fig. 3d ). In this case, the protruding into the contact chamber 7 locking arm 13 is deflected against the restoring force of its spring 16 and thereby biased ( Fig. 3e ) until it then engages with fully inserted contact 2 with its latching hook 15 behind the undercut 6 of the contact 2 and the inserted contact 2 against the loading direction 3 engages behind ( Fig. 3f ). The so primary contact in the contact chamber 7 contact 2 is secured against retraction from the contact chamber 7.

At the end of the assembly, when all contact chambers 7 are equipped with contacts 2 ( Fig. 3g ), designed as a cross slide locking element 17 in the longitudinal direction of the contact chamber double row, in Fig. 3 Thus, at right angles to the drawing plane, moved, which engages behind all inserted contacts 2 in loading direction 3 ("secondarily locked") and thereby queries their correct insertion depth and ensures ( Fig. 3h ). When all contacts 2 are secondarily locked, the latching tool 12 is opened ( Fig. 3i ) and removed ( Fig. 3j ). The contacts 2 are then no longer primary locked in the contact chamber housing 1, but only secondary locked. The locking tool 12 thus serves only for temporary Primärverrastung the inserted into the contact chambers 7 contacts. 2

As in Fig. 4 shown, since it does not assume Primärverrastungsfunktion, the partition 8 can be formed with a minimum wall thickness C. Compared to the known contact chamber housing 101 of Fig. 2 are the minimum possible row spacing (pitch) A of the two rows of contact chambers and thus the minimum possible width B of the contact chamber housing 1 is significantly reduced.

Der Bestückungsvorgang entspricht ansonsten identisch dem der Fig. 3.From the contact latching system of Fig. 4 this is different in Fig. 5 shown modified Kontaktverrastungssystem only in that here the undercut 6 'of the contact 2 by a lateral recess (or a side step) of the contact 2 is formed by the lateral Wall opening 11 of the contact chamber housing 1 is accessible from the outside. The assembly process otherwise corresponds to that of the identical Fig. 3 ,
