Definitions
- the present invention relates to a home appliance with a pop-out control knob.
- buttons projecting partially out of the housing when the user pushes into the housing from a press surface for the first time to be accessible by a user to a first position and inserted into and preserved in the housing in the second position when pushed into the housing for the second time.
- said knobs control the gas taps in cooking devices.
- a hat ( ) is covered onto the surface of the gap (A) corresponding to the external side of the cooking device. The hat ( ) prevents the user from viewing the gap (A) from outside of the cooking device.
- the pop-out knobs are assembled to the control panel by means of said housing (K) wherein the pop-out knobs are positioned ( Figure 1 ).
- the knob When the knob is pushed inwardly through the housing, the knob can move in an eccentric manner within a range inside the housing with respect to the direction of a force applied by the user. As a result of said movement, when the head of the knob is pushed again in order to be removed from the housing, the knob can be stuck in the hat and/or it can be stuck under the hat. When there is a problem in the removal of the knob from the housing thereof, the knob can be scratched and/or the knob may not be removed from the housing thereof such that the user can grab the knob with his/her hand.

Description
- The present invention relates to a home appliance with a pop-out control knob.
- In home appliances, for instance in cooking devices, there are pop-out control knobs projecting partially out of the housing when the user pushes into the housing from a press surface for the first time to be accessible by a user to a first position and inserted into and preserved in the housing in the second position when pushed into the housing for the second time. For instance, said knobs control the gas taps in cooking devices. There is a gap (A) provided between the housing (K) and the knob (D) maintaining the knob (D) to move inside the housing (K). A hat ( ) is covered onto the surface of the gap (A) corresponding to the external side of the cooking device. The hat ( ) prevents the user from viewing the gap (A) from outside of the cooking device. The pop-out knobs are assembled to the control panel by means of said housing (K) wherein the pop-out knobs are positioned (
Figure 1 ). - When the knob is pushed inwardly through the housing, the knob can move in an eccentric manner within a range inside the housing with respect to the direction of a force applied by the user.
- The object of the present invention is to provide a home appliance comprising a control knob whose usage is facilitated and whose depreciation during usage is decreased.
- In order to realize said object, the subject matter home appliance comprises an housing positioned on a control panel; a control knob having a head section projecting partially out of the housing when the user push into the housing from a press surface for the first time to be accessible by a user to a first position and a head section inserted into and preserved in the housing in the second position when pushed into the housing for the second time; a gap provided between the housing and the control knob maintaining the control knob to move inside the housing; a hat positioned in the gap covering the gap from the head section peripherally; and a control member controlled by said control knob. Said hat comprises a sleeve in a length such that the control knob's press surface is not able to exceed the sleeve when the control knob is pushed into the housing and preserved in the second position. Even when the user pushes the knob from the press surface into the housing and even when the knob reaches the final point it can reach in the housing, the press surface of the knob remains at a higher level from the depth the hat extends inside the housing. By means of this, as the user applies force again to the press surface in order to remove the knob from the housing partially, the press surface of the knob does not scuff to the housing or the knob does not stuck under the hat.
- In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the diameter of the head of the knob is smaller than the diameter of the body of the knob. The hat comprises a flange extending radially towards the housing and providing assembly to the housing.
- In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the home appliance is a cooking device whose control member is a tap functioning with gas.
- The additional properties and advantages of the present invention will be provided by the exemplary embodiments giving reference to the accompanied figures.

- The subject matter home appliance comprises a control panel (30) providing control for the user; an opening (32) formed on the surface of the control panel (30); an housing (20) accommodating a knob (10) positioned on the device side of the control panel (30) and at the alignment of said opening (32) on the control panel (30) surface and such that the knob (10) can exit from and enter into the panel (30) surface through the opening (32). In addition, the home appliance comprises a control member (40) controlled by means of the knob (10).
- The knob (10) is accommodated inside the housing (20) so that there is a gap (60) between the knob (10) and the housing (20); and there is a press surface (12) on the external surface facing the opening (32) providing the access of the user to the knob (10). In addition, the knob (10) comprises a head (14) part under the press surface (12) and a body (16) part under the head (14) part.
- In addition, the home appliance comprises a hat (50) which partially covers the gap (60), provided between the knob (10) and the housing (20), from the panel (30) surface side so as to encircle the knob (10), and which prevents the user from viewing the inner side of the home appliance and from viewing the gap (60) from outside of the control panel (30).
- When the knob (10) is pressed once into the housing (20) through a press surface (12) for the first time, the knob (10) takes the first position. While the knob (10) is in this position, the head part (14) projects outwardly so as to provide access of the user through the opening (32) provided on the panel (30) surface and through the housing (20). As the knob (10) is pressed into the housing (20) for the second time, the knob (10) takes a second position. While the knob (10) is in this position, the knob (10) completely enters into the housing (20).
- In
Figure 2 and3 , the home appliance is illustrated in a preferred application of the subject matter invention. In this application, the home appliance is a cooking device functioning with gas; and the control member (40) is a gas tap. In this application of the home appliance, the hat (50), placed to the gap (60) between the knob (10) and the housing (20), comprises a sleeve (52) encircling the knob (10) completely from the head (14) part and encircling the knob (10) partially from the body (16) part. Said sleeve (52) continues to encircle the knob (10) at least from the head (14) part thereof while the knob (10) is in the second position. By means of this, in any case, the knob (10) does not enter under the end of the hat (50) ended inside the gap (60). - In addition, the hat (50) comprises a flange (54) extending towards the housing (20) provided at the outer and radial side. The housing (20) comprises a peripheral housing where the flange (54) is seated at the edge facing the opening (32). The housing and the flange (54) provides fixation of the hat (50) to the housing (20).
