Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ceramic tile made of porcelain stoneware shards whose surface is at least partially provided with a decorative layer and which has a transparent protective layer covering the decorative layer and the surface.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a ceramic tile whose surface is provided with a decorative layer and a transparent protective layer covering the decorative layer and the surface, in which these disadvantages are at least partially eliminated.
  • a transparent protective layer is applied in a wet-paint process using an organic coating material, wherein the surface of the tile to be coated at least partially has a decorative layer, but is unglazed.
  • This simple structure makes it possible, on the one hand, to use highly brilliant decorative and in particular also printing inks, with which virtually any desired motif can be displayed permanently and photorealistically, and, on the other hand, to protect this motif with a transparent organic coating.
  • a very strong adhesive bond between the individual layers, namely ceramic tile, decorative layer and protective layer can be realized and the positive tile material properties (hardness, stability) can be combined with the properties of an organic coating (for example transparency, impact resistance, skid resistance) and modern printing processes.
  • claims 2 to 6 relate to embodiments that relate in particular to the protective cover layer.
  • PU materials for this protective layer are very suitable in that they can be adjusted in terms of their properties such as strength, toughness, impact resistance, transparency and gloss in a very wide range.
  • the protective layer is sprayed on in several individual layers, a high overall layer thickness can be achieved. It is also possible to carry out individual layers with different material properties. Thus, e.g. a particularly strong top layer can be used while, the intermediate layers have a particularly high El asti quality aufwei sen.
  • the protective layer is applied in a casting process, a high layer thickness can be achieved in one operation.
  • the surface can be melted in a flame polishing process prior to final curing and thus smoothed.
  • a total layer thickness of the protective layer of 20 ⁇ up to 2 mm provides an adjustable protective effect for the decor while high transparency and allows one, especially in the high layer thickness range, depth effect that makes the underlying decor look even more plastic.
  • Claims 7 and 8 relate to the color composition and the decorating technique.
  • Organic dyes and in particular modern printing inks allow decors with the complete color range applicable in the printing sector.
  • inkjet printing processes it is also possible to apply very large decors with the highest resolution and display quality on tile formats of up to 2.40 mx 1.20 m.
  • a flame-pyrolytically applied silicon-organic layer can be provided.

Between the decorative layer 4 and the unglazed surface 3, an adhesion-promoting intermediate layer 6 (possibly also multi-layered) may optionally be provided, the structure of which will be explained below.
  • Porcelain stoneware has a very low water absorption (less than 0.5 wt.% Or even less than 0.1 wt.%), which makes a ceramic tile made of it extremely frost resistant. In addition, a very high breaking strength is given because porcelain stoneware is a completely sintered through and very compact material.
  • the surface 3 and the entire tile body is extremely flat and therefore also suitable for very large formats (up to 2.40 x 1.20 m in thicknesses between 4 and 30 mm) for coating processes, the very tight tolerances during application allow a coating (this includes, for example, large format inkjet printers).

  • a porcelain stoneware shard 2 with unglazed surface 3 is provided.
  • the decorative layer 4 and then the transparent protective layer 5 are applied in a wet paint process using an organic coating material.
  • a plurality of individual layers 51, 52 can be applied in a spraying process and, alternatively or additionally, a cover layer 52 in a casting process, which can then be flame-polished.
  • an additional silicon organic layer 7 (silicate layer) can be applied to the unglazed surface 3 by means of flame pyrolysis, and an adhesion promoter 8 can be applied to one or more of the following: the unglazed surface 3, the silicon organic layer 7 and / or the decorative layer 4th
