Description
- The present disclosure relates to a lamp, and more particularly, to a lamp incorporating clips.
- A conventional lamp generally includes a housing, a cover fixed to the housing and a light source received between the housing and the cover. The cover is usually fixed to the housing by screws. Nevertheless, using the screws to fix the cover and the housing is inconvenient and time-waste, requiring corresponding tools (such as screwdriver) for manipulation thereof. Therefore, a new type clip is introduced to substitute the conventional screws used in the lamp. By resiliently sandwiching the housing and the cover between two opposite ends of the clips, the cover can be conveniently secured to the housing without tools, thereby facilitating assembly of the lamp.
- However, as sandwiching the housing and the cover between the two ends thereof, the clip is subject to a concentrated stress on a middle thereof due to resilient deformation. The concentrated stress acting on the middle of the clip is prone to damage the clip that the clip may fracture from the middle thereof, raising the risk that the cover falls from the housing.
- What is needed, therefore, is a lamp incorporating clips which can overcome the limitations described above.
- Many aspects of the present disclosure can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present disclosure. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views. [0006]
FIG. 1 is an exemplary view of a lamp of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an inverted view of the lamp ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an exploded view of the lamp ofFIG. 1 , after the lamp ofFIG. 1 is rotated horizontally for 180 degrees. -
FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the lamp ofFIG. 2 . -
FIG. 5 shows a side of a clip of the lamp ofFIG. 4 . - Referring to
FIGS. 1-2 and4 , a lamp of the present disclosure is disclosed. The lamp includes ahousing 10, acover 20 fixed to thehousing 10, alight source 40 received between thehousing 10 and thecover 20 andmultiple clips 30 securing thehousing 10 with thecover 20. - Also referring to
FIG. 3 , thehousing 10 includes atop plate 12 and asidewall 14 extending downwardly from a circumferential periphery of thetop plate 12. Thetop plate 12 has a matrix offins 16 protruding upwardly and perpendicularly from a top face thereof. Eachfin 16 has a column configuration for optimizing airflow passages between thefins 16, thereby increasing heat dissipation capability of thehousing 10. Twobrackets 18 are formed on the top face of thetop plate 12 adjacent to a left and right sides of the matrix offins 16. Thebrackets 18 can attach the lamp to a supportive structure (such as a ceiling) so that the lamp could illuminate in a predetermined orientation. Aport 17 is formed on the top face of thetop plate 12 neighboring a right bracket 18 (FIG. 1 ). Theport 17 is for allowingwires 50 extending therethrough into thehousing 10, to thereby electrically connect thelight source 40 with an outside power source (not shown). Thetop plate 12 has threeribs 120 formed on the top face thereof and next to each of a front and rear sides thereof. The threeribs 120 are aligned in a line parallel to the front/rear side of thetop plate 120. Thetop plate 12 has aslot 122 defined approximate to eachrib 120 in the top face thereof. Theslots 122 in the same side of thetop plate 12 are also arranged in a line parallel to theribs 120. Theslots 122 each have a small depth so that theslots 122 do not penetrate through thetop plate 12. Thesidewall 14 defines anannular groove 140 in a bottom thereof for fittingly receiving thecover 20 therein (seeFIG. 4 ). - The
light source 40 is fixed on a bottom face of thetop plate 12 and surrounded by thesidewall 14. Thelight source 40 can be selected from an incandescent bulb, a fluorescent tube, multiple LEDs (light emitting diodes) and other suitable light sources. Preferably, thelight source 40 is multiple LEDs in the present disclosure, considering a small volume of the lamp, energy saving and environmental friendliness. A printedcircuit board 42 is placed between theLEDs 40 and the bottom face of thetop plate 12. The printedcircuit board 42 can conduct heat generated by theLEDs 40 to thetop plate 12 and then dissipate the heat to an outside environment via thefins 16. A plurality ofreflectors 44 are disposed on a bottom of the printedcircuit board 42. Eachreflector 44 partially surrounds twocorresponding LEDs 40 to reflect light emitted from theLEDs 40 as a desired pattern. Apower driver 60 is mounted on the bottom face of thetop plate 12. Thepower driver 60 is located below theport 17 and electrically connected to thewires 50 and the printedcircuit board 42 for inputting electrical current to theLEDs 40 from the power source through thewires 50. - The
cover 20 includes abottom plate 22 and aflange 24 extending upwardly and perpendicularly from a periphery of thebottom plate 22. Thebottom plate 22 has a plurality ofair passages 220 defined therein corresponding to thepower driver 60, for facilitating heat dissipation of theLEDs 40 and thepower driver 60. Theflange 24 has threedepressions 240 defined in each of a front and rear sides thereof and adjacent to the periphery of thebottom plate 24. Eachdepression 240 is located below acorresponding slot 122 in thetop plate 12. Eachdepression 240 has a depth large enough to receive an end of acorresponding clip 30 therein. A top portion of theflange 24 is fittingly received in theannular groove 140 in thesidewall 14 to position thecover 20 to thehousing 10. - Also referring to
FIG. 5 , eachclip 30 is made of a metal sheet bent to a desired shape. An upper portion of eachclip 30 is bent downwardly to form a first pressingsection 32; a lower portion of eachclip 30 is bent upwardly and then downwardly to form a secondpressing section 34, a middle portion of eachclip 30 is bent inwardly towards thehousing 10 to form a connectingsection 36 interconnecting the first pressingsection 32 and the secondpressing section 34. In order to fix thehousing 10 to thecover 20, the first pressingsection 32 of eachclip 30 is inserted into theslot 122 to resiliently press against thehousing 10, and the second pressingsection 34 of eachclip 30 is received in thedepression 240 to resiliently press against thecover 20. The first pressingsection 32 of eachclip 30 is also engaged with and confined by therib 120 for avoiding detachment from thehousing 10. As resilient deformation of the first pressingsection 32 and the second pressingsection 34, the connectingsection 36 is urged to deform inwardly to abut against an outside circumference of thesidewall 14 of thehousing 10. Therefore, theclips 30 are firmly connected to thehousing 10 and thecover 20 to reliably secure them together. Furthermore, since the middle of theclip 30 is bent curvedly towards thehousing 10, the stress produced by the firstpressing section 32 and thesecond section 34 due to resilient deformation can be relieved and uniformly distributed, thereby reducing the risk that theclip 30 fractures at the middle thereof for the concentrated stress. - It is believed that the present disclosure and its advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it will be apparent that various changes may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the examples hereinbefore described merely being preferred or exemplary embodiments.
