Abstract

Ein Freikolbenmotor (1) weist mindestens einen Zylinder (2) auf, in dem mindestens ein Kolben (3) verschiebbar geführt ist. Der Zylinder weist mindestens einen Verdichtungsraum (29) zum Verdichten eines Arbeitsgases und mindestens einen Brennraum (30) zum Verbrennen des Arbeitsgases auf. Zur Erzielung eines hohen chemischen und thermischen Wirkungsgrades weisen der Brennraum (30) und der Verdichtungsraum (29) die gleiche Außenkontur auf. Sie sind voneinander durch den Kolben (3) trennbar. Ein Überströmkanal (28) kann den Verdichtungsraum (29) mit dem Brennraum (30) verbinden. Auf diese Weise ergibt sich ein nicht zerklüfteter Brennraum (30), der eine vollständige Verbrennung des Arbeitsgases und geringe thermische Verluste zur Folge hat.
