Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a waste container.
- In particular, the present invention relates to a waste container of the type with top filling and bottom discharge and comprising a casing having an emptying opening; at least one door closing the emptying opening; connecting means arranged between the casing and the door to connect the door to the casing and allow it to rotate, with respect to the casing and about a first axis, between a closed and an open position of the emptying opening; and actuating means carried by the casing designed to cause the door to oscillate between said closed and open positions about the first axis.
- The purpose of the present invention is to provide a waste container of the type specified above, and wherein the opening of the door is as efficient and simple as possible.
- According to the present invention, a waste container, as claimed in claim 1 and, preferably, in any one of the following claims depending directly or indirectly on claim 1 is provided.
- The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate examples of nonlimiting embodiments, wherein:
-
Figure 1 shows schematically and in axial section a first preferred embodiment of the waste container according to the present invention in a closed configuration; -
Figure 2 is a section along the line II-II ofFigure 1 ; -
Figure 3 is a section similar to that ofFigure 1 and is relative to the container ofFigure 1 in an open configuration; -
Figure 4 is a section along the line IV-IV ofFigure 3 ; and -
Figures 5 and 6 correspond toFigure 1 and, respectively, toFigure 3 and are relative to a second preferred embodiment of the waste container according to the present invention. - In
Figures 1 to 4 , number 1 indicates as a whole a waste container comprising a bell-shapedexternal casing 2, having a generally longitudinalvertical axis 3, positioned with its concavity facing downwards and having at the bottom an emptying opening 4 closed by twodoors 5, which are connected to thecasing 2 by way of respective connectingdevices 6 adapted to allow thedoors 5 to rotate in opposite directions, aboutrespective axes 7, between a closed position (Figures 1 and 2 ), wherein thedoors 5 are arranged coplanar with each other to close the opening 4, and an open position (Figures 3 and 4 ), wherein thedoors 5 are moved downwards to leave free the opening 4. - As more clearly shown in
Figures 1 and3 , each connectingdevice 6 comprises ahinge 8 coaxial toaxis 7 and two crank and slotted links 9 (of which only one is visible inFigures 1 and 2 ) arranged on opposite sides of therespective door 5 and, each comprising alever 10 hinged at one end on thecasing 2 to rotate about a respectivefixed axis 11, parallel to therespective axis 7 and common to thelever 10 of the other crank and slottedlink 9. Eachlever 10 of each connectingdevice 6 carries integrally connected, at its free end, a cursor defined by apin 12, which is parallel to therespective axis 11, is coaxial to thepin 12 of the other crank and slottedlink 9 of thesame door 5 and engages in a transversally slidable manner a respective guide defined by aslot 13 formed in therespective door 5 transversely to theaxes - The
casing 2 is bounded from above by awall 14, through which a waste loading opening (not shown) is formed, and asleeve 15 of a mushroom-shaped head 16 is mounted, which is coaxial to theaxis 3 and serves as a gripping device for an external coupling and lifting device (not shown), normally mounted on a movable arm of a vehicle (not shown) and comprising, in known manner, a clamping head (not shown) adapted to engage the mushroom-shaped head 16. - Through the
head 16 is slidably mounted an inlet member of anactuator device 17 made in order to determine, when actuated, a displacement of thedoors 5 from the normal closed position to the open position. The aforementioned inlet member is constituted by arod 18, which is connected to thedoors 5 by means of twotransmissions 19 identical and made so that at a displacement of therod 18 from a normal lowered position (Figures 1 and 2 ) to a raised position (Figures 3 and 4 ) corresponds a displacement of thedoors 5 from the closed position to the open position. - The control of the
rod 18 displacement between the lowered and raised positions is achieved, in use, by an actuator member (not shown) carried by said external coupling and lifting device (not shown) and adapted to impart to the rod 18 a downwards thrust so as to keep thedoors 5 in the closed position when the waste container 1 is lifted to be transported above a waste collecting truck, to leave therod 18 free to move upwards so as to allow opening of thedoors 5 when the waste container 1 is in the emptying position, and, finally, to impart to the rod 18 a downwards thrust so as to close thedoors 5 when the empty waste container 1 is set back on the ground. - In the example shown in
Figures 1 to 4 , eachtransmission 19 connects a lower end of therod 18 to an intermediate point of thelever 10 of each of the two crank and slottedlinks 9 arranged on the same side with respect to thedoors 5 and comprises aflexible portion 20 connected directly to the lower end of therod 18 and arigid portion 21 connecting theflexible portion 20 to thelevers 10 of the crank and slottedlinks 9 that are on the same side with respect to thedoors 5. - As shown in
Figures 2 and4 , theflexible portion 20 extends in a plane passing through theaxis 3 and parallel to theaxes cable 22, common to theother transmission 19, and twopulleys 23, around which thecable 22 is wound to assume an inverted U configuration when therod 18 is arranged in its lowered closing position, and a substantially inverted L configuration when therod 18 is arranged in its raised opening position. In any case, the axial displacements of thecable 22 are substantially equal to the movement of therod 18 that cause them. - The
rigid portion 21 lies in a plane perpendicular to theaxes shaped crosspiece 24 in turn comprising acentral tie rod 25 connected to the end ofcable 22 opposite to that connected to therod 18, and acrossbar 26. Therigid portion 21 also comprises twolevers 27, each of which is hinged to a respective end of thecrossbar 26 to rotate about arespective axis 28 parallel toaxes lever 10 of the respective crank and slottedlink 9 to rotate, with respect to therespective lever 10, about arespective axis 29 parallel toaxis 28 and arranged at a given distance from therespective axis 11. - Even in this case, the transverse displacements of the
axes 29, which are substantially equal to the displacements of therespective cables 22, are also substantially equal to the displacements of therod 18 that caused them. - The operation of the waste container 1 and, in particular, of the
doors 5 under the control of theactuator device 17 is immediately deducible from the above description and from the annexedFigures 1 to 4 and requires no further explanation. - The only details that deserve to be specified are the following:
- the
transmissions 19 does not introduce any amplification of movement, since the transverse displacements of theaxes 29 are substantially equal and opposite to the displacements of therod 18 causing them; - each connecting
device 6 defines a double articulated hinge, which, due to the presence of the respective crank and slottedlinks 9, allows therespective door 5 to disengage, during a portion of its rotation about therespective axis 7, from therespective transmission 19 and to perform a displacement, that is imparted by thetransmission 19, but is not controlled by therod 18, but by the length of therespective slots 13. - According to a variant not shown, the emptying opening 4 is controlled by a
single door 5. - In this case, there is a
single transmission 19, thecrosspiece 24 is missing and thelevers 27 are directly connected at the end of thecable 22 opposite to that connected to the lower end of therod 18. - According to a further variant not shown, and relative to the case in which two
doors 5 are used, thecrosspiece 24 is missing and thelevers 27 are directly connected at the end of thecable 22 opposite to that connected to the lower end of therod 18. - According to yet a further variant not shown, the
levers 10 are missing, the connectingdevices 6 are constituted solely byhinges 8 and thepins 12 of the crank and slottedlinks 9 are carried directly by thelevers 27. - The combination of these last two variants not shown constitutes part of the variant shown in
Figures 5 and 6 , which are related to a modified waste container 1, wherein each of the twotransmissions 19 comprises theflexible portion 20 defined by thecable 22 wound on thepulleys 23 and connected at one end to the lower end of therod 18, and therigid portion 21 defined by twolevers 27 hinged at one end to the end of thecable 22 opposite to that connected to the lower end of therod 18 to rotate in opposite senses, with respect tocable 22, around anaxis 28 movable with therod 18 and parallel toaxis 7. Each lever carries, at its other end opposite to that connected to thecable 22, thepin 12 of the respective crank and slottedlink 9. Preferably, but not necessarily, in this case, theslots 13 are inclined upwards and towards theaxis 3 so as to facilitate the sliding of thepins 12 along therespective slots 13 during the closing movement of thedoors 5. - According to a variant not shown, this movement of the
pins 12 could be further facilitated by the presence of springs (not shown) arranged, each, between arespective pin 12 and the free end of therespective door 5. - In conclusion to the foregoing, it should be stated that, according to a variant not shown, the
slot 13 could be replaced by a linear guide carried by therelative door 5 and thepin 12 could be replaced by a sliding block hinged to the end of therelative lever - Finally, according to a variant not shown, the
flexible portion 20 of eachtransmission 19 could be replaced by a leverage connected, at one end, to therod 18 and, at the opposite end, at the relativerigid portion 21 and structured so that the end connected to therigid portion 21 performs axial displacements of width substantially equal to the width of the displacements of therod 18 causing them.
