  • the body 2 has an internal volume sized to receive a coil of wire 9 which is introduced via an upper opening 23 constituted by the end edge of the upper end of the body 2.

  • a round elastic 10 is attached to the center of the base 1, on the one hand, and to a metal bar 11 positioned on the device or retaining ring 12 placed itself above the coil of wire 9, on the other hand, as visible on the Figures 4 and 5 especially.

  • This is also a sort of seal guaranteeing opening of the barrel.
  • the loops 22 of the lid 23 formed by the precuts 14 break, which allows the lid 13 to be removed and access to the coil 9 so as to allow the operator to remove the metal bar 11 by releasing the elastic band 10, then launching the use of the welding wire.
  • the welding wire 17 is threaded by the operator into a stuffing box 15 or the like which is positioned at the top of the cap 13 and the wire feed can then be started.
  • a cardboard wall 16 which serves as a communication medium or information (bar codes, manufacturer's name, type of wire ...) and guarantees the user the inviolability of the packaging before first use.
  • This outer cardboard wall 16 of flexible cardboard is pre-glued and encloses the body 2 of the barrel. It comprises a pre-cut strip 18 in its upper part having a width equal to or greater than the width of the hexagonal base of the cap 13 and around the body 2 of the drum. This makes it possible to remove only this removable strip 18 when using the drum as described above.
  • the entire container is assembled on and from the base 1, the latter supporting the armature composed by the body 2, the angles 4, the bottom and the cover 13 as illustrated in Figure 1 .
  • the different parts of the packaging which are mounted without glue or staple, are available separately and flat, with the exception of the bases 1 which they can nest on each other in order to save space during the storage and transportation.
  • the supports 24 of the base 1 placed under the base and recessed are composed of at least two legs of triangular shape positioned symmetrically on two opposite angles of the hexagonal shape of the base 1, and a central block placed perpendicular to the axis formed by the two triangular legs and passing through the center of the base diametrically.
  • the central block is open at its center of a sufficient width to allow the nesting of the bases on each other without discomfort due to the central portion 3 in the groove of the base 1.
  • the base 1 comprises a multitude of spokes 42 located under said base 1 and molded in one piece with the rest of the base 1, as illustrated in FIG. Figure 8 .
  • These spokes 42 give it the rigidity and strength necessary to lift a coil of solid wire or cored wire whose weight can reach 800 kg.
  • the central portion 3 of the base 1 contains at least one hook-shaped opening 22 placed around the periphery of the cylindrical shape and responsible for maintaining one of the ends of the elastic 10 holding the metal bar 11.
  • the container of the invention is particularly suitable for an electric arc welding operation carried out by an automatic machine or an articulated arm robot fed with a fusible welding wire, such as a solid wire or a cored wire.
